The Big Three laid the marker down early in the season. The opening weekend extravaganza also saw whimsical performances from former Absa Premiership Player-of-the-Year Lebogang Manyama, Bafana international Sibusiso Vilakazi, who christened the new season with a wonder left-foot strike from outside the box, and of course the eye-pleasing Buccaneers team. This being sport after all, the football season did not begin without some madness on the national team front. Former Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter vacated his position in one of the most "picturesque resignations" in South African football history. We have Tiso Blackstar's authority on football, Marc "Striker" Strydom to make sense of Baxter's rogue solo performance and what it means for the future of the national team. Cricket South Africa also confirmed that Ottis Gibson would not continue as Proteas head coach but there was talk that he would have continued until 2021. So what happened to cut matters short between CSA and the West Indian? We hear from CSA CEO Thabang Moroe, who gave the lowdown on what happened behind the scenes.
