Many undocumented migrants were arrested in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni. Several businesses, mostly spaza shops and supermarkets, have also been issued with notices for non-compliance. This follows a Spaza Shop Compliance blitz; some business owners have been found to be operating with expired licenses. The operation is in response to the ongoing impasse between South Africans and undocumented migrants in the country City of Ekurhuleni mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza was leading the operation. The Gauteng Health department is warning the public against using unregulated injections for body and sexual enhancement after two Ekurhuleni patients suffered severe complications, including organ failure. The departments says substances, accessed through informal channels for procedures like BBLs, are not approved for human use and their contents remain unknown. The Democratic Alliance has urged Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza to immediately suspend City Manager Kagiso Lerutla following his arrest.
