Ronwen Williams saved four penalties for the first time in AFCON history, creating a masterclass that had to be seen to be believed. It was a fascinating tactical battle between the Moroccan Atlas Lions and the South African Bafana boys. Both sides played cautiously, but it would be the South Africans that made less technical errors and came away with a victory. In the early match, Burkina Faso were no match for Mali who found their identity with a diamond 4-4-2.M

In the final day of matchday 2, Morocco were tied up by DR Congo and it finished with a dust-up between Walid Regragui and Chancel Mbemba. Tanzania made their return after coach Adel Amrouche was suspended by CAF and fired by the Tanzanian Football Federation. Finally, South Africa trounced Namibia and won 4-0.
