Orlando Pirates emerged the better side over Soweto derby rivals Kaizer Chiefs after claiming a 2-1 win at the FNB Stadium YESTERDAY. The win means Pirates have closed the gap to league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns while for Amakhosi, this second successive loss extends their winless run in the league to seven matches, and is a further blow to their hopes of a top-eight finish. The Soweto Derby, in recent years, has truly been dominated by Orlando Pirates, with Kaizer Chiefs struggling to gain ownership of the bragging rights the fixture has to offer. The Bucs seem to constantly have the edge over their noisy neighbours and quite frankly, it seems as though the Amakhosi faithful have finally had enough of their performances against their arch-rivals. The latest edition of this fixture, was not short of goals and excitement, having been a 5-goal thriller, with two braces - one from each team. But ultimately, it was the Buccaneers who were victorious having won 3-2 thanks to goals by Monnapule Saleng and Thabiso Lebtiso. On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Khosi nation have expressed their disappointment with their Kaizer Chiefs' performance and have questioned the stature of the coaching staff, firing shots at head coach, Cavin Johnson. Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will lock horns once again, on Saturday 9 March at the FNB Stadium. In recent matchups, it has been the Buccaneers who have accumulated the points, and of course the bragging rights. Amakhosi will be hoping to avoid another goal drought and build on their recent win over Golden Arrows. In recent years, both Chiefs and Pirates have produced underwhelming performances in all competitions, and it appears as though Mzansi no longer consider these teams 'big clubs,' as this transpired into the loss of value and importance which has also been the Soweto Derby? On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi debates whether or not the Soweto Derby is still an important fixture or one of a standard DStv Premiership fixture. Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs faced off once again in the Soweto Derby with the Buccaneers going into the match as favourites considering the turmoil which Chiefs are going through. Multiple changes of coaches and technical teams, lack of will up front, and lacklustre defenders proved too much for Chiefs as Pirates won thanks to a single goal by Evidence Makgopa. Kaizer Chiefs need to go back to the drawing board if they wish to turn things around. Mamelodi Sundowns became the first-ever champions of the African Football League (AFL) after they overcame a 1-goal deficit against Wydad Casablanca. Rulani Mokwena and his team showed their class by beating the Moroccan giants 2-0 on the day, and 3-2 on aggregate. Sundowns have now bagged a cool $4 million which will only mean one thing - Sundowns will get better and better. On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi reacts to the latest Soweto Derby which saw Orlando Pirates Beat Kaizer Chiefs in their DStv Premiership clash. The first round of the MTN8 has come and gone with the semi-finals now confirmed. Kaizer Chiefs scraped past Cape Town City whereas Orlando Pirates, thanks to Zakhele Lepasa, breezed past Sekhukhune United. Mamelodi Sundowns got the better of a 10-man Swallows outfit and Stellenobosch FC managed a 1-0 victory over SuperSport United. Mzansi gives their opinions on these matches, with some fans suggesting that an ideal final would be Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates at Soccer City. Not only to prevent Mamelodi Sundowns from grabbing yet another trophy but also due to the possibility of having a Soweto Derby this early in the season. On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi reacts to the MTN8 Semi-Final Draw which sees Stellenbosch FC face Orlando Pirates, while Kaizer Chiefs meet Mamelodi Sundowns. The 2023/24 Dstv Premiership Season edges ever closer, and the fans are worried about the net costs involved in watching a match live. Transport, merchandise, ad-hoc and ticket prices accumulate to figures that seem far too unreasonable. Mzansi has been pleading with the PSL and with SAFA for changes to be made. With ticket prices starting at R50 for lower division matches, and spiking to over R200, it makes sense as to why stadiums are standing empty. Of course, the derbies such as the Soweto Derby, see a full stadium, but the majority of matches are played in front of a crowd less venue On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, soccer lovers around Mzansi express their frustration towards SAFA and the PSL regarding the net costs involved in watching Dstv Premiership matches live. Mzansi suggests that clubs should be looking out for their supporters, and even recommend season tickets and membership cards. SL Radio on SoccerLaduma.co.za
The 2022/23 Dstv Premiership title race is well and truly over, but we have an exciting race for second place on our hands. Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, and Kaizer Chiefs are battling it out to become the second team to represent South Africa in the CAF Champions League. 6 points operate second place Pirates and fourth-placed Chiefs. Gavin Hunt's SuperSport United make up third place with 48 points. When speaking on the Fan Reaction Show, one fan suggests that SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs are making things easy for Pirates with their disappointing results. Pirates will have it all to play for to join Sundowns. South Africa is home to one of the most magnificent stadiums on the continent, Soccer City. Also known as the FND stadium, many are concerned about the attendance that this stadium sees. With a capacity of over 94 000 (ninety-four thousand), we rarely see a sold-out stadium, unless the Soweto Derby is being played, or if Mamelodi Sundowns are in town to face off against Chiefs or Pirates. One fan thinks it's because of the size, and when you are the number of tickets sold and place those fans in a smaller stadium, the turnout is actually really good. When Royal AM traveled to Soweto to face Orlando Pirates, die-hard soccer Fan Mam Joy was denied entry into the match with many suggesting it was because she changed allegiance. Mama Joy was a Pirates fan through and through, but recently made the switch to Royal AM. Videos surfacing on social media suggest her right of entry, with the ticket she purchased, was denied in a calm matter. But the fact remains. Mama Joy eventually goes into the stadium, 57 minutes after kickoff. One cannot forget that this has happened before. It started with Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, then TS Galaxy Chairman Tim Sukazi, and now Mama Joy. Is it time that the PSL and SAFA step in to intervene to stop this barbaric behaviour? On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi expresses their opinion on whether or not Orlando Pirates can qualify for the CAF Champions League and claim the second spot on the Dstv Premiership table. The fans discuss the troubling issues of the Soweto Stadium sitting empty during matches and also share their thoughts on Mama Joy being denied entry into the stadium for the Orlando Pirates vs Royal AM match. Mamelodi Sundowns shockingly exited the 2023 Nedbank Cup thanks to Stellenbosch FC's Iqraam Rayners. The 27-year-old netted a well-deserved brace in 9 minutes against Masandawana. This match ended in the students' favour, 2-1. Downs have now 'dropped' points in their last 4 games and questions of complacency have been asked. Since the Brazilians claimed their 6 consecutive DStv Premiership titles, they haven't looked the same; not being able to score against 10 men, drawing to mid-table teams, what is going on? Many fans think that Sundowns have bigger fish to fry and have set their focus on the CAF Champions League. Orlando Pirates progressed to the semi-finals when they beat ABC Motsepe League outfit Dondal Stars FC via penalties. Not the most convincing of victories, but it has to be said that Dondal Stars fought to the death. Not only did they force the Bucs to penalties, but they also marched through this cup competition valiantly, beating AmaZulu and Supersport United. The future of this team is looking bright. With the semi-final draw already decided, we have yet another Soweto Derby to look forward to. Orlando Pirates have been drawn against Kaizer Chiefs with more than bragging rights to play for. Chiefs have beaten the Buccaneers in the last 5 meetings with the hopes of making it 6/6. Pirates will be looking to break this trend, whereas Chiefs will be licking their lips with the chance to get their hands on Silverware for the first time in 8 years The 2023 Nedbank Cup is coming to an end with only 4 teams left. This competition has arguably been one of the most exciting thus far with shocking results, surprises, and underdog stories. Who is going to emerge victorious? Kaizer Chiefs emerged victorious over their Soweto Rivals Orlando Pirates this past weekend when they met at the FND stadium for the latest match-up of the Soweto Derby. Pirates were coming into this match on a good run of form, and Chiefs; were the opposite. But in a fixture like this, it is safe to say that form can go out the window; it is all about the day and who wants it more. The match proved to be extremely close, closer than anyone expected and if you look at the stats, the proof is in the pudding. Even when Pirates went down to 10 men, the game proved to be on an even playing field. The difference in the match came in the 89th minute after Olisa Ndah attempted to clear a floated ball which saw his header loft over the goalkeeper and into the back of his own net. "The own goal shows that Chiefs put the pressure on Pirates," said one fan when talking on the Fan Reaction Show. Some have suggested that Chiefs got lucky and other say that Chiefs were the better team. Kaizer Chiefs suffered yet another loss when they faced off against Golden Arrows. This was Chiefs' second straight loss in all competitions. Chiefs are currently sitting in 5th place on the log, trailing Mamelodi Sundowns by a whopping 27 points. The glamours have gone under scrutiny in recent months after more than a handful of results have been labeled as poor. The Soweto Derby is fresh around the corner and with the likes of an inform Monnapule Saleng, Chiefs will have it all to play for. The fans have been voicing their opinions and on the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi has expressed who they think is causing the issues within the team's camp. The Nedbank Cup round of 16 draw has been finalised with many teams still in the competition, coming from the lower division in South African football. This is a testimony to the nature of the competition and it continues to reiterate how the Nedbank Cup can open doors, for not only teams but individual players. Many clubs from the PSL recruit youngsters who have impressed during a run of form from the Nedbank. Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates locked horns once again for the Soweto Derby, with both teams coming off a series of mixed results. Each having a decent run of form! With few wins and losses under their belt, this match would always bring excitement. A sold-out FND stadium was the venue of choice for battle; an occasion like none other. A sensational strike by Chiefs' midfielder Yusuf Maart from within his own half was enough to secure all 3 points for Amakhosi and a contender for the goal of the season. On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Kaizer Chiefs supporters express their excitement after a wonderful Soweto derby win against Orland Pirates and celebrate one of the greatest goals in the history of the PSL, scored by Yusuf Maart!

After almost a season of ups and downs, Kaizer Chiefs find themselves in 3rd place on the PSL log and knocked out of all other competitions. Chiefs came out victorious in the Soweto Derby 3 weeks ago, but slipped up against Golden Arrows, losing that game 1-0.
