Fifa's chief operating officer Kevin Lamour has been sacked by the governing body, less than three weeks after he strongly criticised its president Gianni Infantino's aborted plan to sell stakes in competitions to private investors. In a statement, a Fifa spokesperson would only confirm that "the working relationship between Fifa and Kevin Lamour as Chief Operating Officer has ended on 17 August 2026. Last month, Lamour described the controversial Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) plans as "the project of one person", and said "the time has now come for football political leaders to ask themselves the right questions and make the right decisions". The Proteas Men will seek to continue with their unbeaten form in the tournament while India who has looked less convincing although undefeated as well will look to peak at the right moment of the competition. India were in trouble in their opening group match at 77-6 against the USA before captain Suryakumar Yadav hit an unbeaten 84 to rescue his side. The Proteas' top order batsmen have however displayed consistency with the bat, something that they will to continue with in the Super Eight. The trophy's final stop is in Cape Town TOMORROW, wrapping up the three-day whirlwind visit.
