Youri Keulen is a 25 year old professional triathlete from The Netherlands. The eldest of triplets, he has been paving a path in sport from a young age, first as a footballer, then as a runner, where he claimed victory as a three-time national 800m champion in his teens. Picked up by a triathlon talent ID programme in the Netherlands on the back of his running and biking ability, his dream of becoming an Olympian never materialised and shortly after Tokyo 2020 he parted ways with the Dutch National team. Switching distances to take on his first middle distance race at IM 70.3 Maastricht in 2021 he was the fastest overall age grouper on the day, a few weeks later he made his pro debut at Challenge Peguera Mallorca and came fifth. Since then he has gone from strength to strength with some stand out performances including; Winning IM 70.3 Rapperswil -Jona in 2022. He finished in 6th place at last year's IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship and followed that up with a win at Challenge Peguera Mallorca and Challenge Barcelona. Earlier this year he came fourth at the T100 in Miami before a stellar performance saw him break the tape to win the Singapore T100 which changed the game for the young athlete and catapulted him into the triathlon spotlight globally. Youri shares insight into his life as a professional athlete, the importance of surrounding yourself with people who have the same vision and drive for you as you have for yourself, and also what his plans and aspirations are not only to the end of 2024, but beyond the next few months. A wise mind on young shoulders, Youri is excited about his future in the sport and is committed to being not only the best athlete he can be, but also the best triathlete in the world, whilst also hoping that his sporting endeavours will inspire future generations of young athletes at home and abroad. With a special connection to Ireland, through his girlfriend, former professional cyclist Imogen Cotter, Youri loves coming to Ireland and indeed loves the game of hurling, especially when Clare win.

When he is not having 5 dogs to train or work operational with he starts to study again at university with 30+ years, making babies and becoming a familyman, writing books or again, having to rush to an urgent deployment. Stephan did many different things in the police K9 branche, lately focusing on the digital data device detection dogs, a topic we also strived with Graham Attwood in episode number #010, he was also abroad in 2020 in a USAR / INSARAG mission with the dutch disaster unit when a huge explosion hit the harbor of Beirut, and a lot more - listen in, you will like it! We focused on the great team of 1974, with Cruyff et al, and how exactly they lost that final to West Germany. We also talked about what exactly is total football, what made that team so special as well as if they should have won the World Cup in 1978. A really interesting discussion looking at one of the most influential sides of football history. I had a great time discussing a deep dive into the training of an elite sprint group. Everything on and off the track must be developed and learned to bring an athlete to world-class status. I enjoyed learning Bart's process in developing training and his adaptations over time. He lays out his daily training within a weekly micro-cycle. We talked about numerous concepts from speed to sponsorship obligations and warm weather camps. He admits that vitamin D and sunlight can play a huge role in hedging our athletes against others in different climates. Bart was gracious enough to discuss why he still uses tempo and hill training as part of his sprint training. Click in and listen! CoG Studios, CA - The LA Galaxy look to be dealing Nigel De Jong to Galatasaray in Turkey. The LA Time's Kevin Baxter joins host Josh Guesman to talk about all of the updates regarding this move as well as speculate on what it could mean for the LA Galaxy. This is not a simple move and it's not one-hundred percent done. But it does make sense on multiple fronts. Could the LA Galaxy be dealing De Jong in an attempt to keep him from becoming a Designated Player? Are the LA Galaxy looking for flexibility? Perhaps its just a matter of De Jong looking to get back to the Dutch National team and he sees this as a way to get it done. And in surprising fashion, the LA Galaxy actually have played better in games that Nigel De Jong has missed. But what does that mean? Regardless of the reasons this podcast will examine the deal, examine all the details of what is known and Josh and Kevin Baxter will do their best to put this move in perspective. Does this mean the end to an unlikely MLS Cup? After all, there are only 8 games remaining in 2016. Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory
