We received the following message via Facebook: “Hi, it’s Danielle Goff aka Mrs Claus. I decorated Christmas for the RideJHB and for the festive season I was forced to remove all the decorations yesterday. Please can you help — our bylaws are stupid.” Danielle says she has been doing this on Moray Drive, Bryanston, for 25 years. She also tells us that she had a permit from City Parks to put up the decorations — a permit which was later revoked. The Story Behind the Lights Danielle — known fondly as Mrs Claus — has become synonymous with Moray Drive’s Christmas magic. Over the past two decades, she has transformed the street into a festive spectacle, delighting children and adults alike. Her displays include elaborate light setups, Santa thrones, “letters to Santa” boxes, nativity scenes, Grinch figures, and festive scenes that stretch across multiple homes on the street. Every year, on her own initiative and often entirely at personal expense, she plans, acquires, repairs, stores, and installs these decorations—often months in advance. Her work has become a community tradition and even a holiday attraction, bringing smiles, spreading joy, and drawing visitors to Moray Drive during the festive season.
