After some technical issues during his first appearance, Fred is back, and we're excited to dive deep into the exciting happenings surrounding Nebraska Huskers football. This past Saturday, Nebraska hosted the thrilling Husker Games in Lincoln, showcasing a vibrant array of events that highlighted the team's talent and camaraderie. In addition to Raiola's impressive throw, we saw a variety of competitions, including roping contests, a tractor pull, a weight-lifting contest, and a speed contest, all packed with excitement and showcasing the prowess of our athletes. We'll also discuss the latest news on Ty Robinson, who has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, along with updates on all our Huskers who were drafted or signed as undrafted free agents (UDFAs) this weekend. I was fortunate to be asked to speak at the 2024 Husker Football Senior Business Seminar. This was an absolute honor for me as I grew up watching the Huskers dominate on the gridiron. This was also an honor because I personally know Gus Felder, Executive Director of Player Development, for the Nebraska Huskers Football Team. I respect all he is doing to enhance the experience of the student-athletes in the Huskers Football program. I spoke to them about choices verses mistakes and and was thrilled with the reviews I received from them. Quarterback Dylan Raiola and Nebraska Football coach Matt Rhule are quietly working together to lift the Huskers toward the top of the Big 10 in 2024. Rhule isn't ready to name his 5-star freshman the starter just yet, though. He wants him to get his feet wet and learn how to be a college student first. But Raiola is working behind the scenes doing everything he can to help this Nebraska football team as much as he can. We will get our first look at Raiola in the Huskers Spring Game on April 27.WOODSON STAYINGReports out of Bloomington, Indiana are that Hoosiers basketball coach Mike Woodson will be back next season. After making the NCAA tournament in each of his first two seasons as head coach, the 2023-24 season has been a disappointing one in Bloomington. We will share our opinion on that decision. We have more data that says Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark may have to take a pay cut to play in the WNBA. But in reality, she has so many endorsements she will be fine financially.COLLEGE FOOTBALL CHANGESCollege football is going to move its early signing period to early December so it does not conflict with the December Transfer Portal period. That's a step in the right direction but important college football people now want to create a third signing period that would take place in the summer. We think that would be a dumb idea and we tell you why. Finally, we look at the upcoming weekend broadcast schedule on the Big 10 Network which includes most of the women's basketball tournament. Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers hold their annual Red-White Spring football game soon. And there will be a lot of pressure on incoming true-freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola who flipped from the Georgia Bulldogs at the last minute to join Nebraska football. Nebraska football is dying to get to a bowl game, something they haven't done since 2016. Rhule had a decent Huskers team in his first season in 2023. But they never could get right at the quarterback position. That's what makes the new 5-star quarterback Raiola so intriguing. Does Rhule let him learn under fire as the starter or does he ease the soon-to be 19 year old into the lineup? We will discuss that here and take your comments.Plus, UCLA football got themselves an NFL offensive coordinator in Eric Bieniemy. He used to be the running backs coach at UCLA so it's a bit of a homecoming. But it is still a shame Bieniemy is not a head coach in the NFL.If you live in Ohio (Buckeyes fans) you will not be able to make player prop bets on college players. Something about the Ohio Casino Control Commission. We will explain. And what is going on with Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans? They looked like they were getting things dialed in for March and now they've dropped two in a row at home! Yikes! Finally, we have our Big 10 Top 10 observations from the weekend. New Michigan State Spartans football coach Jonathan Smith has only been on the job since November 25th but he is off to a great start in his efforts to rebuild the Michigan State football program. Smith quickly introduced himself to dozens of high school football coaches within a four hour drive of the university, kept key Spartans recruits and brought in a few he had pegged from his previous destination at Oregon State. Plus he got former Beavers quarterback Aiden Chiles to follow him to East Lansing. He's added a few other transfer portal players too. Schools like the Florida State Seminoles and Clemson Tigers may never jump to the Big 10. Why not? They have formidable athletic departments which would fit in nicely with powerhouses like the Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, USC Trojans, UCLA Bruins, Washington Huskies, and Oregon Ducks, just to name a few. And a report last weekend states FSU would like to leave the ACC for the Big 10. However, the Big 10 has not confirmed that the feeling is mutual, yet. But Florida State and schools like Clemson fall short academically when it comes to the Big 10's standards. That could be a glaring weakness that would prevent the Big 10 from inviting them. We will explore that here! Plus, Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers have their new quarterback for better or worse. And former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord is bailing on the Nebraska Huskers but coach Matt Rhule may be in the process of flipping 5-star quarterback Dylan Raiola from Georgia just days from signing day! We also have the latest with Tom Izzo and his Michigan State Spartans trouble on the hardwood. And the Minnesota Golden Gophers are juggling their basketball roster on the fly. Finally, the weekend is already around the corner so it's time to check the Big 10 Network's Classic and Live Action Schedule! College Football Transfer Portal Quarterbacks cost millions of dollars these days. Nebraska Huskers football coach Matt Rhule managed fans' expectations by putting an actual number on it. He said it would cost 1-2 million dollars in 'Name, Image and Likeness' money to recruit a quarterback from the transfer portal. Last summer, Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa said an SEC school offered him 1.5 million dollars to transfer. A record number of players, including some enticing quarterbacks, are hitting the transfer portal this week. In addition to playing time they are looking for lucrative endorsement money. Some schools are better equipped in the NIL arena than others. We will analyze the college football quarterback market in today's game. Plus, we have our four finalists for the Heisman Trophy presentation in New York this weekend. Does Ohio State Wide Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. have a chance against three high profile quarterbacks? Finally, we have our final Big 10 football Power Rankings with some thoughts on how to improve rosters for next season. It's all on Locked on Big 10 with Craig Shemon. Penn State football coach James Franklin lost to the Michigan Wolverines 24-15 Saturday despite the fact Michigan was without suspended coach Jim Harbaugh. And one could argue Franklin was still outcoached. Sign stealing aside, Michigan practically told Penn State what they were going to do. Michigan ran the ball 32 straight times, did not throw a pass in the second half, and the Nittany Lions' second ranked rush defense couldn't stop them. Elsewhere, the top ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are on cruise control as they beat the Michigan State Spartans. The Iowa Hawkeyes did what they do and shut out Rutgers. The Hawkeyes clinched at least a tie for the West division title. Kirk Ferentz should get strong consideration for coach of the year. The Illinois Fighting Illini won a 48-45 overtime shootout against the Indiana Hoosiers. Quarterback John Paddock threw for 4 touchdowns and 507 yards in his first start for the Illini. The Maryland Terps snapped a 4 game skid and became bowl eligible with a win vs the Nebraska Huskers with a last second field goal. Two Purdue Boilermakers rushed over 100 yards in their 49-30 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. And remove 'Interim' from coach David Braun's title as Northwestern earned its 5th win of the year with 24 unanswered points by beating Wisconsin 24-10. The Badgers dropped three straight.
