A couple Barstool Sports bloggers turned podcast hosts, White Sox Dave and Barstool Carl, bring you insightful, engaging and humorous weekly baseball content with a Chicago bias. Interviews, conversation, laughs. Red Line Radio. Intro & close song: 'Dennehy' by Serengeti.
Chief and WSD are back safe and sound after a weekend of hunting with Sydnie Wells. Tons of great stories this week but first we look at the report about Matt Nagy getting fired. Is this legit or are we wasting time? Some of us want immediate results after losing to the Ravens. Others just want the season to be over. Tough couple days for Chicago sports but we'll bounce back. We're thankful for you guys and all the support you give to Red Line Radio. Happy Thanksgiving. All Gas No Brakes.
You probably thought we were joking but it's actually quite serious. Red Line Radio is now a Bulls podcast and the rest of you are coming with us for the ride. Today's show has the room on opposite ends of emotions reacting to the Bulls hot start. Are there problems looming? Is there enough reason to be oblivious? Do we even deserve happiness? We tackle the big picture topics this week as we settle in to a full season of quality Bulls basketball. It's a new frontier for everyone. In and around that we also get WSD's top female vocalists of all time, a passionate state of the union on Cubs offseason plans and some quality ad reads as expected. All Gas No Brakes.
The guys are reunited in Chicago after a maiden voyage to Pittsburgh that didn't disappoint. Even the Bears heartbreaking loss was met with approval knowing that Nagy is one step closer to Colliton's fate. The Bulls pick up the boys spirits after a healthy debate about road trip etiquette. Is WSD a bad boy? Does Eddie rely too much on GPS? Things get very interesting this week as we get into a very serious baseball offseason. Loaded episode. Subscribe and review. All Gas No Brakes.
Carl, Chief & White Sox Dave recap the Bears vs Steelers game from a very shitty Pittsburgh hotel room. Even though it was a short trip, it was predictably wild. WSD ends up at a casino with a multi millionaire Steelers fan. Carl and Chief and Tom risk personal peril to get home from Heinz field. Eddie flies private. There's 14 hours of round trip driving. Just a preposterous amount of things going on not to mention a gut wrenching loss and the Blackhawks firing their head coach. What a time to be alive. All Gas No Brakes.
The boys are seeing so much red and it's not just the Bulls this time. We're joined by former Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini for a detailed conversation about his life in coaching. Originally meant to be a quick & random chat about football, our interview with Bo quickly escalated into a much deeper stuff like the evolution of college football and why Bill Belichick is on a completely different level when it comes to preparation. It's easily one of our favorite interviews in RLR history. Before and after, we debate the merits of changing the clocks, what makes the 2021 Braves different, the Bulls vs. Sixers match-up and some unbelievable bullshit coming from the NCAA. Loaded show with an A+ interview that we can't recommend enough. See you guys at the Chicago River North Hooters this Saturday afternoon 1-4pm. All Gas No Brakes.
The boys are back after WSD's birthday Halloween weekend and he's fired up Ed didn't care enough on Saturday. Maybe because Ed is seeing too much Red? We all are these days as the Bulls have taken over Chicago and the Bears continue to break our hearts. Ed opens up about why he really cared against the niners. Chief celebrates his first Blackhawks win. Carl reminisces about the 5 year anniversary of the Cubs World Series. Classic Tuesday show All Gas No Brakes
Thursday's episode of Red Line Radio starts with the sinister report published about the Blackhawks and Chief's main takeaways from all 107 pages. The more we learn, the worse things get and rightfully so. It's a disgusting and embarrassing situation. We move on with some harrowing revelations about the Bears game this Sunday along with a High School football matchup made in heaven. It's Carl's Brother Rice Crusaders vs. WSD's Wheaton Warrenville South Tigers Saturday night on the south side of Chicago. The only thing more captivating right now is the Netflix show Squid Game. You better believe we give the show the full body review it deserves. Also, this is a Bulls podcast now. Don't forget. ALL GAS NO BRAKES.
BREAKING NEWS: Stan Bowman is out as the Blackhawks GM as the full investigation comes to light. It's a developing situation but the biggest shoe has dropped. Bowman is out and the Blackhawks are forced to move on. Afterwards, Ryan Whitney joins Barstool Chicago (17:04) to break down exactly how terrible, embarrassing and pathetic Chicago sports have become. “I don't think the Blackhawks will ever be good again” is a direct quote. He also spends some time burying the Bears, calling out our coaches and talking shit to WSD. We appreciate the hospitality Ryan. The guys then commiserate about the Bears but ultimately bounce back from seeing so much Red from the Bulls. All Gas No Brakes.
A Thursday red line radio that feels a lot more like the barstool Chicago radio hour with some loaded topics. Things start nice and easy with a recap of our favorite months before getting into some inter barstool news with the recent DPS show. Things lighten up when we get into the greatest fart helmet debate of the 21st century. There's an asking price to suck WSD's ass and we'll get to the bottom of it one of these days. Elsewhere, the Cubs hired a new GM. The Blackhawks stink. And we sit down for a nice 1-on-1 with Purdue Head Coach Jeff Brohm to talk about the rising Boilermakers coming off their Iowa beat down. It's a loaded show just how we like it. All Gas No Brakes.
The boys are reeling from a brutal Packers game and there's no better way to recover than debating more wedding snake draft drama. We start with a recap of the conflict before settling down into our Bears vs. Packers recap which is mostly just acknowledging that Aaron Rodgers owns us. Even if the refs blew it hard, beating the Packers feels impossible. Nice thing is the club is getting 13 points this week in Tampa. Bad thing is the Blackhawks are downright despicable to start the year. But even so there's reason to be happy - Mike Squires joins the podcast for an exclusive sit down with WSD about his relationship with John Cusack and what it means to wear the uniform. One of our favorite interviews ever. All Gas No Brakes.
White Sox Dave is ready to move on after a disappointing end to his 2021 season that concludes with Edward Snowden joining the banned list. Helping us move forward is Bears vs Packers after a delightful win against the Raiders. Even so we're cautious for the time being. Nobody say the P word. WE SAID DONT SAY IT. Afterwards we're joined by Stanley Cup Champion Kris Versteeg for some amazing stories leading into the Blackhawks season. Perfectly balanced episode to get us going for the weekend. All Gas No Brakes.
Barstool Chicago gets together in the wake of the White Sox defeat in the ALDS and it's like a group therapy session. White Sox Dave deserved better and we pick up the pieces together. Some finger pointing mixed with balanced insight should help the healing process. But not as much as our uniform hate for John Cusack. Fuck that guy.
It's the ultimate White Sox playoff preview at Barstool Chicago and we wouldn't have it any other way. Consider this a two parter. The first with the full crew of Eddie, Carl, Chief and WSD round tabling Astros vs. White Sox with a healthy look at Bears/Raiders this Sunday. It's a great peak into the mind of White Sox Dave as he heads into ALDS battle. The 2nd part is where the heat really turns up as WSD raw dogs a 5-man show with the most respected local Sox voices in Chicago: the three animals from Section 108 and the lone wolf Ken.W.o. You read that right. Beef Loaf, Chorizy-E, My Sox Summer and Ken.W.o. come into Barstool Chicago for an uncut, unplugged long form conversation with the unquestioned mayor of White Sox content, Dave Williams. This has been a 5+ year episode in the making and we couldn't be happier to bring it to you. All Gas No Brakes.
Ozzie Guillen comes in to talk MLB playoffs for a long sit down (58:30). Frank Thomas randomly shows up along the way. The guys talk about the Bears and whether they're willing to go all in for the raiders game. Two shows a week has been a blessing. All gas no brakes.
Today we get into the Bear's purchase of Arlington Heights, what does this means for the future of Soldier Field. Chris Castellani joins us to address the rivalry between the Tigers and The White Sox the misery of Detroit sports. Chief gives us a preview before the Blackhawks first preseason game.
White Sox Dave goes toe to toe with a beer bong and loses. The guys try to pick themselves up after an awful Bears loss and what better way to recap the weekend of chaos. Dave Portnoy is in town with Big Cat for the watch party. Notre Dame & Wisconsin do battle at Soldiers. WSD is getting fired up for a deep playoff run. If only the Chicago Bears weren't a brutal organization, maybe things would be happier. For now we're doing our best to hang on. All Gas No Brakes.
Cubs' newest Rookie breakout star 1st basemen Frank "The Tank" Schwindel joins us in studio (29:00), your regular everyday normal guy who just smashes home runs. Eddie addresses White Sox Dave's fraudulent milk challenge. Also a HUGE announcement on how to get a +1985 odds boost through the Barstool Sportsbook app for this weeks Bears game.
The Bears are 1-1 after a massive win against the Bengals. But the real story is White Sox Dave's insatiable thirst for 1% milk and a profound need to prove himself worthy. The end result is one of the funniest moments in RLR history as we kick off our 2nd week of doing two Red Line Radios. We say All Gas No Brakes a lot but this episode is really worth the designation. Bear Down and thank you Miller Lite.
Dave Wannstedt joins Barstool Chicago in studio this week (21:32) to talk about everything from Matt Nagy's strategy to Bears ownership to his time coaching with Jimmy Johnson. It's an outstanding interview from a legendary football guy that will open your eyes to the Chicago Bears and winning in the NFL. Before and after, we get into the early college football season and why Eddie's out on one of his favorite coaches. Chief is thinking twice about his Notre Dame undefeated bet. WSD sets the top of his playoff rotation while Carl thinks long and hard about why the Bengals game could hurt extra this Sunday. It's our 2nd show of the week and there's a lot to look forward to. All Gas No Brakes.
Kris Bryant sits down with Eddie and Carl at the Sluggers batting cages to talk about what it's like being back in Chicago and how he feels about people who claim he hated it here. The guys also recap the season opener for the Bears, the defense is a problem and what are we doing with Justin Fields?
Big Cat joins the boys for the annual Bears preview show and it's a doozy off the top. Should we be depressed or optimistic? Is this a complete waste of time? Is Andy Dalton too nice? Emotions are all over the place which is very on brand for Barstool Chicago previewing the Chicago Bears season. It's in our blood at this point and the Big Cat interview won't disappoint. Also included: game-by-game schedule breakdown with projected win/loss totals. Football is back and so are we. Loaded show with a bunch of other shit including the infamous WSD crack story and a major announcement to our programming schedule. All Gas No Brakes.
Chicago White Sox GM Rick Hahn pays a personal visit to Barstool Chicago to catch up with his best friend WSD. It's a conversation we've all been waiting for since the White Sox completed the rebuild. Rick is one of a kind and we're lucky to have him in our corner. Before and after the interview, we get into the start of the college football season, the Bears roster moves, a long-term Blackhawks commitment and a brand new Cubs campaign. Thanks to Miller Lite for making it happen as always. The Bears season is almost here. All Gas No Brakes.
Big Ten Head Coaches Brett Bielema and Mel Tucker join the show to preview their teams and road to Illinois & MSU respectively. Great interviews with NCAA football around the corner. Before and after, we get into the most recent WSD controversy, Eddie & Chief's weekend with a special celebrity before getting into Bears camp. Bad injury news on the ground that has the boys split on Justin Fields but not the Field of Dreams game. That was awesome. WSD gives an impassioned recap amongst a bunch of other great stuff this week. ALL GAS NO BRAKES.
Bears camp is underway and we're lucky enough to be joined by standout linebacker Roquan Smith (*insert time he comes on*) for a lengthy conversation about his experiences in Chicago and how much he enjoys Eddie's halftime videos. The White Sox are a wagon and you can now buy a Beef Kit at Home Depot. Life is good for a lot of us in Chicago. Thank You Miller Lite ALL GAS NO BRAKES.
The Cubs have completely blown up their core. The White Sox are surging. The Bulls are on a war path and the Bears are underway at camp. Barstool Chicago is joined by IU head football coach Tom Allen as well as Roger Bennett from Men In Blazers to talk soccer. All Gas No Brakes.
Legit Hollywood guy Jake Johnson (New Girl, Spider-Man) joins the boys to talk about being an A-list Bears fan. Patrick Wisdom then takes us through his whirlwind season with the Cubs and his plans to be a regular big leaguer. Before and after we get into crazy hockey news with the Blackhawks. The Bears have reported to camp. The White Sox are cruising to a division and the Cubs are ripping the whole thing apart. Good thing we have 4 guys because there's so much shit going on these days ALL GAS NO BRAKES
Kris Bryant (22:30) and Adam Engel (1:00:30) join Barstool Chicago this week on Red Line Radio. It's a loaded episode and we're very lucky to be joined by both players. Worth noting this is KB's 3rd appearance on the show making him our most frequented guest in history. Meanwhile Adam Engel informally and honestly takes us behind the scenes of the 2021 White Sox. The Hawks are still a dumpster fire. The Bears are about to get it fired up. Great week to sink into baseball and our usual bullshit. All Gas No Brakes.
Scott Darling joins the boys to talk about the great times of Duncan Keith being a Chicago Blackhawk. We also get into where the team goes from here, some old school baseball talk with Carl & Whitesoxdave, Windy City Smokeout, buying back in on Nagy, and more.
Today's Red Line Radio gets into Whitesoxdave not understanding why people found humor in his golf swing, Josh Donaldson vs. Lucas Giolito, the Cubs being dead, Toews being back, and a whole lot about the Blackhawks scandal.
Really mixed bag podcast this week with Carl in Omaha, Eddie in Michigan and Scott Darling joining in Barstool HQC. It's a loaded show with tons of Blackhawks, cheating scandal with expert Ryan Spaeder and baseball with White Sox Dave. Thank you to Miller Lite for making this week happen.
Deep conversation this week about the state of MLB and it's not great. Tyler Glasnow motivated the guys to really dig into why MLB is making these changes. WSD is loaded with evidence that something fishy is going on. Carl has a hunch there will be severe consequences while Eddie and Chief can't help but wonder why MLB can't get out of it's own way. Elsewhere we have some more seating controversy as well as some passionate excitement about the Chicago baseball scene. Two first place teams halfway through June is exactly what this city need. You can hear even more stories in Tim’s book available now, WINNING: The Unforgiving Race to Greatness (https://amzn.to/3owMk0i). Is Tony LaRussa getting enough credit? Are the Cubs going to extend Kris Bryant? It's an All Gas No Brakes episode with tons of baseball talk just like the good old days.
Barstool Chicago is back to New York City for another week of content. We've got Bears. We've got White Sox Dave. Obviously we'll sprinkle some Cubs and Blackhawks. But most importantly we've got optimism and hope for the Chicago Bears. We can't remember the last time it
World Series champion, Marquee Network analyst/host and Chicago Cubs all time great Ryan Dempster joins the show (29:51), but first, the crew is in that dump NYC to win a championship on Jeff D. Lowe's "The Dozen". WSD wants Tony LaRussa fired, but other than that he's driving the bus for the Positive Vibes Only Tour for Sox fans. Will they go after Kris Bryant? Tune in to find out. Loaded episode. All gas, no brakes.
Barstool Chicago is joined by NFL Network's Kyle Brandt (18:20) to talk about the hometown Chicago Bears and where the organization sits heading into draft night. Awesome conversation to level set emotions as we get ready for another round of Ryan Pace decisions. It's tough but we're on the same page. After that we get so deep on White Sox while Chief puts a nail in the Blackhawks coffin. Carl thinks the Bears draft a quarterback and is still somewhat optimistic about the Cubs. It's a classic effort from your favorite idiots on the biggest day of the offseason. All Gas No Brakes.
Barstool Chicago is joined by White Sox starter Carlos Rodon to talk about his no hitter against Cleveland and 2021 emergence. Before and after, WSD explains why Tony LaRussa is the worst manager of all time and not fit to lead the White Sox. We're going to be here for you every step of the way All Gas No Brakes.
Barstool Chicago welcomes back the MLB season in traditional fashion: getting WSD worked up about something stupid while Carl bitches about the Cubs offense. The boys get so deep on Chicago baseball they actually have Trevor Williams's dad Rich join the show (38:30) to talk about Trevor's path to the Cubs. Afterwards we get into trade deadline for the Blackhawks while things are looking up for the Bulls. Don't ask us about the Bears All Gas No Brakes
It's Opening Day and we have a big show to go with it but first we need to figure out if WSD wants to bang Nala from Lion King. It's been kicked around for years and we finally get to the bottom of it. After that it's a heavy baseball show to get ready for the start of baseball season in Chicago and across MLB. All Gas No Brakes.

After that we get into March Madness with two great player conversations with Tyler Underwood (43:17) from Illinois and Cam Krutwig (1:09:17) from Loyola. Get your brackets filled out and let's have ourselves a deep Illini run All Gas No Brakes.
It's the biggest day in Barstool Chicago history and we have a loaded All Gas No Brakes podcast to join the news. Blackhawks might get a trade deadline boost but not from a typical trade deadline source. The Cubs and Sox are letting fans in the stadium and WSD is on a quest to make opening day. Elsewhere Carl just plain and simple feels bad for Allen Robinson and awesome for Brad Underwood. The Illini are officially the #1 basketball team in Chicago even if the Bulls are so close to being kind of back.
Ryan Whitney joins the show to talk Blackhawks playoff chances with Chief and it's honestly a quite lovely conversation. Then WSD gets involved and things turn ugly for the better as a new rivalry is born. After that we get into the usual mix with a deeper look at the Bulls matchup problems, the slow start to Spring Training, Bears quarterback rumors and the Fighting Illini bulldozing Michigan. Loaded show at a time of the year things are about to take off. We'll be around for all of it ALL GAS NO BRAKES
Sad news to start the show as Eddie moves to the 6-8 week disabled list in a walking boot. There's not prospects of a hard cast but we do get into some Chicago snow etiquette that will have you fondly remembering our days on Sirius XM. After that we start cranking the sports content hard with a Bulls round table that should have you double checking which podcast you're listening too. Chief then throws some sauce around the Blackhawks that makes the rest of the room perk up because it's starting to feel different. Carl and WSD do a familiar song and dance around Chicago baseball albeit this time with the tables flipped. And finally there's some rumors about JJ Watt loving Chicago and we're quick to throw some reactions on that. Early drop tonight because the Bulls won by 3. ALL GAS NO BRAKES.
