POPULARITY
Sermon by Dr. Fred Luter
Finding our motivation for ministry in the pursuit and praise of human recognition is an easy snare to fall into as a leader. Join me and special guest Pastor Fred Luter, Jr., the first African American President of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Senior Pastor at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, for a conversation on how to fight the temptation to become infatuated with platform, prestige, and popularity.
On August 23rd, 2005 people all over the country were glued to the television watching the largest hurricane in recent history move towards the Gulf Coast. As if a category 5 hurricane wasn't enough of a threat, the levees that protect New Orleans, Louisiana from incoming water, collapsed. On today's show Dr. Fred Luter shares his experience of losing everything to a natural disaster, the onset of depression he endured, and the joy of seeing the greater church body come together in a time of need. Suffering in this life is inevitable. Dr. Fred challenges us to trust that our suffering allows us to be better ministry leaders as we serve and better understand those in our ministry.SHOW LINKS 2 Corinthians 12:8-9Connect with the Glass House on Instagram HEREPlease email us your questions and feedback to president@lifeway.com

This dynamic ensures legislating and governing will be a difficult task. As we move forward in 2023, know that first in our hearts and at the top of our minds are our churches. And we are taking those next steps with a Mark 10:44 mindset: to be a servant of all.
