Carlos Evans is the founder of C.R. Evans Ministries. Carlos was born in Puerto Rico, where he was an avid athlete throughout his high school and college years. At the university level, Carlos studied Theology and was very active in his church. It was during that time that the tragic events of September 11th occurred, and he felt compelled to join the family legacy of service in the United States Marine Corps -- and originally planned to join as a Chaplain.    Carlos served three tours of duty in Iraq and was assigned to Afghanistan for his fourth deployment. In May 2010, he was the squad leader on foot patrol when he stepped on an improvised explosive device.   The blast took both of his legs and his left hand. Medically discharged after his rehab at Walter Reed, Carlos served in the Marine Corps for eight years.  Carlos is now a minister with the Assemblies of God USA, a Wounded Warrior Spokesman, and a motivational speaker.   He and his wife, Rosemarie co-authored a book called Standing Together, an inspirational story of a wounded warrior and an enduring love.  They reside in Orlando, Florida, and they have two beautiful daughters.   If you'd like to contact Carlos or get a copy of his book, just go to his website at http://www.crevans.org    ----------------------     If you want to help us transform the lives of even MORE MEN for God's glory, please take a minute to leave us a helpful REVIEW on iTunes: http://www.rmcpodcast.com and SHARE this podcast with any young man (or men) you're mentoring or discipling.   Talk with Dr. Joe 1-on-1: Are you tired and stuck? Want to go to get your faith, marriage, family, career and finances back on track?  Then maybe it's time you got a coach. In this episode of Arise + Abide, Sally and Curtis explore Psalm 127, a Psalm of Solomon that reminds us that all our efforts are meaningless unless the Lord is the one building and protecting. They reflect on the difference between a lifeless house and a love-filled home, emphasizing that true value and blessing come only when God is at the center of our work, our provision, and our security. Drawing connections to Ecclesiastes and Jesus' teaching in Matthew 6, they discuss the futility of striving in our own strength, the peace that comes from trusting God, and the rest He gives to His beloved. The conversation also celebrates the gift of children as a tangible expression of God's life-giving work, pointing to the deeper truth that all creation flourishes when rooted in His presence. Through Scripture and personal insight, they invite listeners to seek God first, trusting Him to provide all they need.

From James 1 to Colossians 2, we uncover why every man is prone to believe lies and how those lies can quietly shipwreck your faith. You'll learn: Why it's easier to justify sin than to dig for God's truth How to identify the “plausible arguments” Paul warned about The daily habits that protect you from deception and strengthen your spiritual foundation The powerful picture Proverbs 9 paints of wisdom and folly—and why you can't remain neutral Three reflection questions that will challenge your walk with God this week This isn't just about avoiding sin. It's about building your life on the bedrock of God's Word instead of the sinking sand of human reasoning. In this episode of Arise+Abide, Curtis and Sally explore 2 Kings 16:10-18 and 2 Chronicles 28:16-25, tracing the tragic reign of King Ahaz of Judah. Faced with military threats from Israel, Syria, Edom, and the Philistines, Ahaz turns not to the Lord but to Assyria for help—paying tribute with treasures from the Temple and even remodeling Judah's worship to imitate pagan practices. Instead of rescue, Assyria brings further oppression, and Ahaz sinks deeper into idolatry, closing the Temple and filling the land with altars to false gods. Curtis and Sally reflect on how Ahaz's decisions reveal a familiar human pattern: seeking success by imitating worldly power, trusting in human alliances instead of God, and hardening the heart when things go wrong. They contrast this with the call of Christ's kingdom, where true greatness comes through servanthood and trust in the Lord. The conversation challenges listeners to examine where they place their hope, to repent when tempted to rely on their own understanding, and to remember that ultimate victory belongs to God alone.

In this episode, Curtis and Sally reflect on Psalm 126, a song that captures the surreal joy of restoration after a long season of sorrow and waiting. Described as a dream fulfilled, this psalm celebrates God's faithfulness in bringing His people home, prompting laughter, singing, and praise—not only from His people but also from the watching world. Curtis shares how moments of joy, like graduations or major life milestones, can feel almost unreal after long anticipation—reminding us of God's perfect timing. Sally highlights the beauty of how God's acts of restoration become testimonies of His goodness to the nations. The hosts draw powerful connections between the psalm's imagery of planting in tears and harvesting with joy, and Jesus' words in John 4 about the spiritual harvest. Whether we're sowing seeds or gathering fruit, the work is God's—and both the process and the result can be filled with joy.

In this episode, Sally and Curtis explore Isaiah 17, a chapter filled with vivid imagery of desolation and judgment but also powerful glimpses of hope and restoration. As the prophecy unfolds against Damascus and Israel, we see once-flourishing cities reduced to ruins, fields stripped bare like after a harvest, and the consequences of turning away from God. Yet, in the midst of this devastation, a powerful shift occurs: the people finally lift their eyes to the Creator and abandon the idols of their own making. Sally and Curtis reflect on what it means to return to the One who gives life—the Holy One of Israel. They discuss how idolatry drains life while God, the true Rock, offers protection, refuge, and renewal. Curtis highlights the comforting image of a God who doesn't just stand as a barrier but actively hides and shields His people from harm. They share how prayer and God's covering provide a kind of spiritual invisibility in the face of darkness. As the episode concludes, listeners are reminded that no matter how overwhelming the opposition or how far we've wandered, nothing can thwart the Lord's redemptive plan. His justice is real, but so is His desire to restore. When we turn back to Him, we find not judgment alone—but a Rock who hides us.

In this episode of Arise + Abide, Curtis and Sally reflect on Psalm 125 and the assurance it offers to those who trust in the Lord. Drawing from the imagery of Mount Zion and the mountains encircling Jerusalem, they explore how God surrounds His people with unshakable protection—both now and forever. As they meditate on the psalmist's words, the hosts share personal reflections on the beauty and symbolism of mountain landscapes and how that physical imagery evokes God's spiritual guardianship. Curtis underscores the importance of trusting God not just as a distant protector, but as the One who dwells within us, transforming our hearts from the inside out. Sally ties in prophetic visions from Zechariah and Jeremiah to illustrate how God's presence creates a protective “wall of fire” and a fruitful, enduring life for those rooted in Him. The conversation also considers the human tendency to sort people into “good” or “bad,” contrasted with God's gracious invitation for all to turn from their ways and be made righteous through Him. With themes of trust, transformation, and spiritual alignment, this episode invites listeners to surrender more deeply and live with confidence in the faithful love of God.

In this episode of Arise + Aide, Curtis and Sally dive into Isaiah 12, a brief but powerful chapter of celebration and restoration. Flowing directly from the promises of Isaiah 11, this chapter presents a song of praise for salvation—a turning point from judgment to joy. Curtis reflects on the imagery of God's anger turning to comfort and the hope of restoration even for a people heading into exile. Sally draws rich connections between Isaiah's words and Jesus' conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well, showing how the “fountain of salvation” echoes across Scripture and invites us to trust in God's provision. Together, they explore how this prophetic song calls us to witness and share our faith even in seasons of trial, becoming living testimonies of God's grace. Themes of unity, divine presence, and worship in community resound throughout the discussion, revealing the beauty of God as our strength, our song, and our victory. With echoes from Exodus, the Psalms, and Revelation, Isaiah 12 becomes a chorus of hope that reminds us: joy comes after the storm, and God's presence is our greatest treasure.

In this episode of Arise + Abide, we reflect on Psalm 124 and the powerful question it asks twice: What if the Lord had not been on our side? Through this poetic expression of Israel's deliverance, we explore how remembering God's past faithfulness strengthens our present confidence and gratitude. Curtis and Sally unpack the psalm's vivid imagery of being rescued from overwhelming waters and broken traps, drawing connections to our own experiences of spiritual deliverance through Christ. As we consider the implications of God's presence in our lives, we confront the “what ifs” that often plague our thoughts. Whether it's anxiety about the future or regret over the past, counterfactual thinking—when surrendered to God—can be a tool that leads us into deeper gratitude and faith. Drawing from passages like Romans 8 and 2 Corinthians 10, this conversation encourages us to take every thought captive and stand firm in the assurance that our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Join us as we remember God's unfailing love, rejoice in our confident hope, and walk in the freedom and transformation Jesus provides.

In this episode of Arise + Abide, Curtis and Sally reflect on the hope-filled vision of Isaiah 11, where a new branch from David's line emerges—pointing to the coming of Jesus. They explore how the Spirit of the Lord rests on this righteous ruler, who judges not by appearance but with divine wisdom, justice, and truth. The conversation highlights how Jesus embodies these prophetic promises and how His reign brings deep transformation—personally, spiritually, and globally. From predator and prey living peacefully to nations reuniting and exiles returning home, Isaiah 11 paints a picture of radical peace and restored relationships. Curtis and Sally discuss the challenge of waiting on the Lord and allowing our nature to be transformed by His Spirit. They also emphasize the promise that God is actively drawing all people to Himself, creating unity and peace through relationship with Him. As the episode unfolds, listeners are invited to see God's ultimate plan for redemption—a world filled with people who know the Lord, walking in His truth, and living without fear. It's a powerful reminder that the way back to God's original design comes through the one who wears righteousness like a belt and truth as His foundation, Jesus.

Only Christ can.   Preston and Frank hold nothing back as they unpack identity, ego, addiction, and what it really means to walk in true masculine authority as a son of God.   Frank also shares his own personal testimony, his journey to Christ, and the major transformation behind rebranding Rebuilt Recovery to The Rebuilt Man—a shift from simply quitting porn to fully becoming the man God created you to be.

In this episode of Arise + Abide, Sally and Curtis reflect on Psalm 123—a short but powerful psalm of ascent that calls us to lift our eyes to the Lord, the one enthroned in heaven. As they explore this prayerful cry for mercy in the midst of contempt and opposition, they emphasize the importance of where we fix our focus in life. Like servants waiting attentively for their master's command, we are called to keep our eyes on God—not just on Sundays, but continually—watching and waiting for His guidance. Through heartfelt discussion, Sally and Curtis unpack the themes of patience, identity, and steadfast hope. They speak to the challenges of living in a world that often mocks and misunderstands God's people, and how vital it is to find our worth and direction in Him. Drawing from both Psalm 123 and New Testament scriptures like Matthew 24 and 1 Peter 2, they remind listeners that though life may be full of distractions and spiritual opposition, God's mercy anchors us in truth and gives us strength to endure. Whether you're weary from the noise of the world or simply in need of a reminder to lift your gaze heavenward, this episode offers encouragement to stay focused on the Lord, trust His timing, and stand firm in the identity we've been given through Jesus.
