4 mindsets that every great Christian will have
Do you feel inadequate when it comes to answering hard questions of faith? In this episode of The Living Room, I have the privilege of interviewing theology professor and author, Mary Jo Sharp about Dark Room Faith - a video curriculum designed to address the objections many young people have about the Christian faith. This free curriculum can be used by youth leaders but also parents to help them talk through the questions teens often face. But we also talk about how many millenials are leaving the faith because of hypocrisy in the church and her book, Why I Still Believe: A Former Atheist's Reckoning with the Bad Reptutation Christians Give a Good God. I hope you'll check out all of Mary Jo's excellent material - and share this episode with a friend. Watch on YouTube My interview with Mary Jo Sharp is also available on YouTube (Wednesday @ 3:00pm)! I have so enjoyed hearing from people who are doing the Embracing Trust Challenge! And it's not too late to start because it can be done anytime and anywhere. All five days of the challenge have been uploaded to YouTube - but you definitely want to sign up to receive the FREE worksheets and daily emails before you start. Resist the impulse to watch all five days at once, because the best way to get the most out of the challenge, is to live in each truth for awhile. In fact, you may want to do it over five weeks rather than five days! Because each one of the truths from Proverbs 3:5-6 have the power to transform your life. GET THE CHALLENGE! Great Christians throughout history have left an indelible mark by doing three things. These three things are the keys to leaving your own legacy that lasts forever. Chip explains what those three keys are and how to begin putting them into action in the next 24 hours.
In addition to appreciating the blessings that we have, Christians must make the proper use of the blessings that God has given us. In this lesson we discuss the idea of stewardship as well as listing nine principles of good stewardship Teacher: Matt Burleson
It is important that we as Christians recognize how blessed we truly are, and be grateful for what God has given us. May we not fall into the trap of letting our gratefulness slip through the cracks and fail to recognize what God has done for us. Teacher: Matt Burleson
Session 3 | This session was recorded at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, NC on February 9, 2022.
God has given us the resources and time to serve in his kingdom, and he expects us to put in the work to his glory. One way we do that is by making sure we are doing the best work we can in our secular jobs. Teacher: Matt Burleson
Our study of what it means for Christians to be strong and courageous continues. Teacher: Matt Burleson

Jesus said the Peter the Apostle; And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church. True enough, it was Peter that built the church after Christ rose into heaven. Simple enough on Jesus's part to say this and for it to happen. But there is more to Peter, than just being The Rock.

Message on some of the great Christians inside the Colossian church - by Pastor Rob Carlson
Why do we as Christians allow ourselves to be divided over our beliefs? Why do we live with so much hypocrisy? Frank Viola addresses these issues and more in his new book, ReGRACE, in which he calls out the “bipolarism” of Christianity. Frank is a bestselling author whose mission is to help serious followers of Jesus know Him more deeply so they can experience real transformation and make a lasting impact. He shares his “head-on collision with Jesus Christ” at age 16 and how a crisis came at age 23 when he realized “there must be more” to following Christ. Writing about his discoveries led to his first book, published in 2008, and he went on to write over 20 books about problems Christians face. In this conversation, Frank address toxic Christianity, which results when Christians take themselves too seriously, and how our personal convictions shouldn’t be grounds for ripping people apart. He discusses the marks of a false teacher, some surprising facts about Charles Spurgeon, and why he regrets not starting his blog and podcast much sooner than he did. Frank wraps up by recounting the advice of Jim Rohn about the importance of the five people with whom you spend the most time. Who are your “five”? Resources: Frank Viola Find resources and information, including Frank’s podcast, The Insurgence. ReGrace Find out how to get five FREE chapters of Frank’s latest book!
Change how you treat fellow believers when you hear Frank Viola share the shocking beliefs of Great Christian heroes. Listen to learn C.S. Lewis believed in praying for the dead, Jonathan Edwards agreed with owning slaves, Martin Luther was against Jews and more. You will learn why Viola gathered these stories to teach Christians how to treat others with grace instead of disdain in his new book, "ReGrace."
In Chrstianity, greatness comes through servitude.
We all have dreams. Dreams are good. God wants to bless us with the joy of making our dreams come true. But when it comes to thing of faith, it appears Great Christians not only have dreams similar to the rest of us...but they also Dream Great Dreams for God and accomplish great things for Him.
The past two weeks, we have talked about the practices of Great Christians. We highlighted two practices so far - Thinking Great Thoughts and Making Great Sacrifices. If you read Chip Ingrams' book, you will find that Great Christians also Pray Great Prayers, Dream Great Dreams, and are willing to Take Great Risks. These are practices all Great Christians appear to have in common. But today, we will focus on the one practice that is the key to the effectiveness of all the others - Develop Great Habits.
Last week, we talked about the fact that Great Christians think great thoughts. This week our focus is on the theme of sacrifice. Just as Veterans love this country so much they are willing to make great sacrifices for it, Great Christians love God so much they are willing to make great sacrifices for Him.
Does God want a bunch of average Joe Christians, or do you think He would prefer a world full of people who strive to be the best Christians they can possibly be? Inspired by Chip Ingram, this series looks at four of the common practices of those individuals - historical and modern - considered to be Great Christians. These practices take them from average Joe Christian to a whole other level in their faith.
Great Christians receive great things from God.
Great Christians receive great things from God.
Great Christians receive great things from God.
Great Christians receive great things from God.
Quick Quiz: What is the #1 Health problem in America today? COVID? Heart Disease? Cancer? If you guessed depression, you've been paying attention...or perhaps you've been affected. Across every demographic and regardless of economics or gender, the silent thief robbing Americans of quality of life is depression. From milder forms like S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder – seen in colder climates…like Minnesota!), to severe episodes, depression has reached epidemic proportions in our culture. Directly through personal experience, or indirectly through the struggles of a friend or loved one, each of us deals with depression. It is the common cold of emotional illness. Great Christians through the ages have fought this familiar enemy. We can find hope again because God empathizes with our pain and invites us to the way up when we are down.
