In this episode, I have the opportunity to sit down with The Sweller's drummer Jonathan "Jono" Diener. Jonathan is also the front man for his most recent musical project Baggage. He's also in the musical projects Braided Veins and No Trigger. Jonathan has recently been working to promote his new coffee company Rootless Coffee out of Flint Michigan where he lives. Jonathan and I talk about marketing, creativity, and identity, and how they are all interconnected when it comes to pursuing new projects. Whether it be playing in bands, starting companies, or writing blogs and articles, Jono does a great job at juggling a lot of plates and producing a lot of really cool things. It was a pleasure to talk with him, and I think anyone with a passion for creativity and art will take something away from our conversation. Enjoy! The Swellers were an American punk band from Flint, Michigan. Their music is influenced by melodic punk rock bands as well as alternative and indie rock from the 1990s. It was announced April 22, 2011, through Alternative Press that the new album titled Good For Me would be released on June 14, where one of the new tracks called "Best I Ever Had" could be streamed. In April 2012 they announced their departure from the Fueled by Ramen label. They would release a 7" (Vehicle City Blues) on Side One Dummy Records. On October 16, The Swellers self-released an EP entitled Running Out Of Places To Go. It is composed of five songs that the band recorded and produced independently. The Swellers signed to No Sleep Records in May 2013 and announced in August 2013 that they would be releasing their 4th full length, The Light Under Closed Doors, on October 29. On April 15, 2014, The Swellers announced via Facebook their release of "B-sides and Rarities." On June 24, 2014 they announced via Facebook and Twitter that they are breaking up and booking farewell shows. In February and March 2015, the band performed at Soundwave festival in Australia. On May 1, 2015, they played their last show at Groezrock. LET'S CONNECT: Kyle's Instagram Kyle's Facebook Email: Kyledevlinfitness@gmail.com

New Noise. On this episode we speak to Dennis Lyxzén the musician best known as the lead vocalist for Swedish hardcore punk band Refused. He is currently the vocalist in INVSN. Aside from Refused, he has been involved in numerous Swedish bands during his musical career, acting as vocalist, bass player, or guitar player. Since the break-up of Refused, his most notable bands have been The (International) Noise Conspiracy and Invasionen (Previously called The Lost Patrol Band). Lyxzén also runs Ny Våg, a punk record label. He acted as producer of the 2005 self-titled album by Swedish punk band Regulations, which was released on the label. As a punk rock frontman, Lyxzén's songs are of a counter-culture nature, within line of his socialist political views. Despite his political views, he tends to maintain a level of lyrical variety throughout his various bands. Lyxzén was voted sexiest man in Sweden in 2004 by Elle Magazine and is also vegan. In 2011, Lyxzén joined The Bloody Beetroots for their Church of Noise tour as a guest vocalist. Lyxzén is also featured in their newest single, "Church of Noise", and the accompanying music video. In 2012 it was announced that Refused would reunite for Coachella, Way Out West Festival and Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012. They went on to headline Groezrock 2012 in Meerhout, Belgium. Although Refused stated in 2012 that their reunion was only temporary, in 2015 they released their fourth studio album Freedom. Refused have continued to tour to promote Freedom. Dennis has stated that Refused will continue as an active band, "We’re not breaking up or anything, we’re taking a break to write a new record… Please support the Mark and Me Podcast here https://www.patreon.com/Markandme

Infamous on the rock scene as an extremely exciting DJ and opening to 10,000 people at Groezrock Festival, for Front Magazine, Etnies and Monster to name a few, it's Karistocat. Using her eclectic sets that blend the likes of House, EDM, Trap, Hip Hop and Rock, she makes speakers bleed and gets crowds get riled up in an instant. What's so different about her? Her rip-roaring sounds and animal magnetism, blended with her style, cut the Kats from the Kittens. Her mystique coupled with her unpredictable sets means you never see Karistocat twice and you always walk away feeling like the cat that got the cream. Karistocat’s style is A$AP Rocky meets a tattooed Brigitte Bardot with a spin of skate culture. Her wild and playful personality gives her an aura of danger making her something truly exciting to watch behind the decks. Her background in theatre and playing in metal bands gives her the rock X Factor and she has brought all her experience to her performances. Karistocat also has an undeniable knowledge of music and knows how to direct a crowd to insane heights of euphoria. Karistocat’s experience as a music supervisor means she always discovers music before her counterparts, and has given her a vast knowledge in all genres of music both old and new. Within her first year of DJing, Karistocat landed endorsements with skate brands such as DC Clothing and Pistonhead lager then further endorsements with Sinstar, Atticus and Skullcandy. Karistocat has spun sets for Front Magazine parties and exhibitions, as well as the following festivals: Slam Dunk, Download, Sonisphere and HevyFest with Red Bull. She is also part of the hip London DJ collective that spins at the fashionable night of East London's, Shorebitch. She has played sets for Triumph Underwear in conjunction with Elle magazine during London Fashion Week and has also taken her skills global by DJing across Europe at Groezrock, Hell-O-Wein and Batofar in Paris. Look out for this new DJ sensation! Karistocat is the spinderella supreme that commands the masses from dancefloors to skate ramps with her musical prowess - after all, everybody wants to be a cat.
