In the final sermon of our Advent series, Pastor Kevin walks us through Malachi 4:1-6. This passage speaks of the Second Advent of Christ - a coming day of judgment, when the arrogant and wicked will be consumed like stubble, but the righteous will experience healing and renewal under the "sun of righteousness." Christ fulfills the promise of righteousness and healing through His life, death, and resurrection, bringing salvation to those who fear God's name. Furthermore, the reference to Elijah's coming finds fulfillment in John the Baptist, who prepared the way for Christ, calling people to repentance before the great and final day of the Lord.

New episode out now. BROKEN LINKS BRIT DARK ELECTRO ROCK THREESOME RETURN WITH NEW ALBUM & MORE! BROKEN LINKS express melodic and hook laden alternative rock that is dark, haunting and potent. Loaded with atmospheric guitars, melancholic vocals and electronic soundscapes, the UK dark rock combo will reveal their stunning third album, Conflict::States, on Friday 30th April. The band have also just unleashed a spanking new single and video for the track, Pioneers - https://youtu.be/j8OtHWe6zDA  Originally drawing influences from an assortment of areas stretching from the Manic Street Preachers, Depeche Mode, and Nine Inch Nails to The Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack, BROKEN LINKS have meticulously formulated a hugely unique sound that is stacked with integrity and is utterly all-conquering. The three piece consist of Mark Lawrence (Vocals/Guitars), Lewis Betteridge (Bass), and Phil Boulter (Drums), and hail from Eastleigh. Since their inception in 2008, the threesome have constantly pushed boundaries, endeavouring with much success to create new pathways and avenues for their ever-evolving sound. BROKEN LINKS have built a formidable and loyal fanbase following the self-release of three EPs and two albums, and by playing shows with the likes of British Sea Power, The Boxer Rebellion, InMe, My Vitriol, and The Chameleons in the UK, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, and Italy. This year, BROKEN LINKS return with their fiery new album, Conflict::States. The album is an angry declaration aimed at the current state of the world. Mark Lawrence (Vocals & Guitars) explains: “People are living in a world where they think they have choices. There are no choices. We're on borrowed time. This album is a statement of awareness to all the shit holding society back.” From top to bottom, the album is a heady fusion of goth-electro, post-punk, and pop-rock that takes the listener on a powerful aural experience. Broken Links online http://www.brokenlinksmusic.co.uk/ http://www.facebook.com/brokenlinks http://www.instagram.com/broken_links https://www.youtube.com/user/brokenlinksmusic https://open.spotify.com/artist/0VBx7ymL8y6CI3TgOFFhTz   Pioneers is a great track to kick off the show with, packed with harmony and melodies both vocally and electronically, what I really love about this track is the perfect mix of the electronic elements meeting the guitars because they complement each other perfectly, there are moments in this the song where it kinda of reminded me of a 30 seconds to mars meets Depeche mode. Overall, I really enjoyed this track and I hope you do!     Californian quartet Hail The Sun have released new single / video 'Misfire', taken from their album, New Age Filth, released 16th April via Rude Records (UK/EU) Equal Vision (NA). Watch the video to 'Misfire' here: https://youtu.be/xGQYE_epZG4 Purchase New Age Filth here: newagefilth.com and stream here: https://hts.lnk.to/newagefilth Speaking about the track vocalist and drummer Donovan Melero states, “'Misfire' is about feeling so detached from everyone that even while going through the motions of normal behaviors, it feels like you're watching yourself as an outsider. We often try to validate ourselves in ways we think are necessary.” 'Made Your Mark' follows previous singles 'Made Your Mark',  'Domino' and 'Parasitic Cleanse', giving a taste of the expansive and genre-defying sounds found across New Age Filth. When Hail The Sun entered the studio to record what would become New Age Filth, they knew they were setting out to make their most collaborative and diverse album yet. The band, consisting of Donovan Melero (vocals/drums), Aric Garcia (guitar), John Stirrat (bass) and Shane Gann (guitar), spent a month living in an apartment attached to producer Kris Crummett's studio which provided a much different experience from the creation of prior albums.  The ten songs on New Age Filth showcase the band's post-hardcore roots blended with elements of alternative and progressive rock, proving the band's ability to be extremely technical in instrumentation while also unleashing some of the catchiest hooks they've ever created. The lyrics, penned by Melero, centre around the theme of reflection, weaving through painful and emotional experiences of love, cynicism, and touching on how awful humans can be to one another.  Having sold through nine vinyl variants before the album was released, the anticipation for the record marks a milestone in the band's career not only from a fan perspective but for the band to share these songs and watch as they take on purpose.   Hail the Sun online https://www.facebook.com/hailthesun https://twitter.com/hailthesun https://www.instagram.com/hailthesun         Misfire is our second this week having previously featured Hail the sun on the show I really like this band they remind me so much of Piece the veil and perhaps this is because of Donovan sounds a little like Vic, Misfire is another great track from the bands firth album plenty of hooks and melody as well as a lot of energy, for me the elements I love about the track are the guitars are on point plenty going on here from the bands guitarist Aric and John who complement  each other and guitar and bass, in closing I like Misfire lots of energy great guitars add it to a summer playlist as this track just getter better with each listen!   Swedish horror metal band Mister Misery today release new album A Brighter Side of Death via Arising Empire, the follow up to their breakthrough record Unalive. Watch the video to lead single 'Ballad Of The Headless Horseman' here https://youtu.be/oo_H4p1xUWs Stream / purchase here: https://MisterMisery.lnk.to/misterhyde Spawned from the hallowed parts of Sweden in 2018, Mister Misery have rapidly grown to prominence in Europe, with their debut album Unalive (2019) gaining huge praise from Metal Hammer DE, Aardschok NL, Rock Hard Italy and more.  While the global pandemic crushed schedules, Mister Misery kept busy during quarantine writing breathtaking material, resulting in new album A Brighter Side of Death. This album marks a milestone for the band and opens up the next chapter of their horror story. Mister Misery are stronger, scarier and more diverse than ever. A Brighter Side Of Death will be available on CD, a limited special coloured vinyl, and a special surprise bundle including CD and rare items.   Stream A Brighter Side of Death here: https://MisterMisery.lnk.to/abrightersideofdeath Mister Misery  are: Harley Vendetta | Vocals/Guitars Alex Nine | Guitars Alister | Bass Rizzy| Drums MISTER MISERY online: http://www.mistermisery.com https://www.facebook.com/mistermiseryband https://www.instagram.com/mistermiseryband   'Ballad Of The Headless Horseman is our next single this week and I must admit when this dropped into my inbox this week, I was instantly taken by the bands imagery and the name, Mister Misery just feels like a great band name for the genre of music this band deliver. The track its self does not hold back its straight away in your face, and for all you circle pit lovers out there, I have no doubt when live gigs return if you have not started a pit you will when this kicks in.   Mister Misery without doubt will give the scene a much needed injection, if you're a fan of bands like Black Veil Brides, Motionless in White, Wednesday 13 then you will be right at home with Mister Misery as this single is packed with elements of those bands the double kick bass drums, to the fast guitars with riffs and solos. This band are a must if you're a fan of the bands I've mentioned as I've already said they are going to give the scene a much needed injection!   Yard Amrs Hollow Ankles   Quick off the back of their latest successful EP release ‘Sanctuary Lines', Yard Arms are back again with their new single ‘Hollow Ankles', due for release April 23rd. PROJECT    Release First New Track & Video Titled  "The Nothingness" Friday, April 23rd, 2021 - Multi-instrumentalist, veteran songwriter, and long-tenured guitarist of the Grammy-nominated rock outfit Stone Sour, Josh Rand, has today announced a brand new musical endeavor, The L.I.F.E. Project with vocalist Casandra Carson. Accompanying the announcement of the new project is the release of the group's first track "The Nothingness" which premiered on SiriusXM's Octane yesterday to much acclaim. The track features Rand's signature chart-busting, anthemic songwriting and Carson's powerfully diverse vocal prowess, providing fans with an exciting first taste of what's to come from the duo. The Nothingness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaToYxLfZfM Nurturing the project from concept to execution, the instrumentation was written, arranged, recorded, and produced by Rand in his home studio and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Korn, Megadeth, Lamb of God, Parkway Drive) . Completing the collaborative effort with the addition of Carson, The L.I.F.E. Project presents an important milestone in an already decorated career for Rand, one that was punctuated with the addition of a one-of-a-kind vocal lead that understood how to compliment the music with her lyrical pen.  Speaking on his new project, Josh Rand shares   "I'm so excited to announce The L.I.F.E. Project and to release 'The Nothingness'. Casandra and I are really proud of the music we've been making over the last year and can't wait to share it with the world."       ABOUT THE L.I.F.E PROJECT   Arriving at the intersection of time and circumstance, multi-instrumentalist, veteran songwriter, and long-tenured  guitarist of the Grammy-nominated rock outfit Stone Sour, Josh Rand, found himself at a proverbial fork in the road.       Rotating back to real world after an extensive two-year run on the road completing Stone Sour's Hydrograd album cycle, Rand resumed his routine of immersing himself in his craft, songwriting with clear intent - breaking new ground and exploring new sounds.  Shortly thereafter, a series of events would prompt Rand to make some significant professional decisions.     The pivot would find Rand continuing to push his creative pace as a songwriter, while devising a brand-new outlet that would feature his stylistic signature throughout. Accustomed to working with the kind of vocalist that is equally commanding and versatile, Rand knew he wanted to maintain a standard of a dynamic lead, while bringing something new to the space of hard rock and metal.     As chance would have it, just a few degrees of separation stood between Rand and vocalist Casandra Carson. The resulting introduction of The L.I.F.E. Project is a five-track EP that offers a complete presentation of a songwriter asserting his stride after more than two decades steeped in his craft. Building off the sonic stamp he established during his six albums, twenty-year tenure with Stone Sour, Rand's current iteration holds true to his track record, without relying on it.    Stylistically, The L.I.F.E. Project is a fluid combination of classic metal sensibility and Rand's penchant for pushing the boundaries of contemporary heavy. Between Rand's instrumental framework, accentuated by Carson's ability to articulate poignant stanzas, The L.I.F.E. Project remains a passion project culminating in perfect collaboration with Carson's undeniable vocal soar, asserting an articulate aggression - a cathartic ebb and flow - that is as sincere as it is dynamic. The L.I.F.E. Project online   thelifeprojectband.com https://www.facebook.com/thelifeprojectband https://www.instagram.com/thelifeprojectband/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCssnEAmgBwicLWpGqJdtGxg       As a massive Stone sour fan I am familiar with Josh Rands body of work and whilst stone sour are on a hiatus, its great to see Josh not just fade into the shadows.   The Nothingless  is packed with Riffs and a lot of punch from Josh on guitar,  Casandra Carson  delivers a some awesome vocals on the track, but I could not help draw on compassions between Casandra vocal tone and that of Lizzy hale from Halestorm, not a bad comparison to be honest as Halestorm and Lizzy are awesome. I feel this single is a grower and whilst on the first couple of listens I'm not bowled over I want to hear the rest of the Ep             You can find this episode and previous episodes from Setting The Tone in the below links Spotfiy https://open.spotify.com/show/6Jj9SsrXxve44839dptihN… Apple https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/setting-the-tone/id1499390718 Google https://podcasts.google.com/?q=setting%20the%20tone podbean https://Settingthetone2.podbean.com   Thank you to our sponsor @The Guitar Ninja Academy, the best place to become a guitar master For more information our sponsor then hit the below links https://theguitarninja.co.uk https://www.facebook.com/theguitarninja

Go and check this one out           HAIL THE SUN have announced their highly-anticipated fifth full-length album, New Age Filth, set for release on 16th April via Rude Records (UK/EU) Equal Vision (NA). To celebrate the announcement, the band have shared the passionate first single 'Domino', alongside an accompanying video. Watch the video to 'Domino' here: https://youtu.be/f8XrhjIgswg New Age Filth marks the band's most ambitious material to date, recorded over five weeks with producer Kris Crummett. The energy and thought the band put into the release is apparent on 'Domino', astheir technical prowess shines with instruments dancing over one another as vocalist Donovan Melero belts out his signature vocals. Lyrically, the track centres around reflection of self and how past actions can affect others.  On writing 'Domino' Melero stated: “Reflecting is important. What we might discover in reflection can be a hard pill to swallow. I'm only as big as my weakest character flaw. I'm told that I talk a lot in my sleep, and these are the things I think I say.” When HAIL THE SUN entered the studio to record what would become New Age Filth, they knew they were setting out to make their most collaborative and diverse album yet. The result is ten songs that find the band pushing their creative boundaries in every way. They're heavier and poppier at the same time, proving their ability to be extremely technical in instrumentation while also unleashing some of the catchiest hooks they've ever created. The influence from genre-melding predecessors like Coheed and Cambria, At The Drive-In, and even Yes is apparent, but the sound is still very much a natural evolution from HAIL THE SUN's past work. The shifting musical compositions on New Age Filth perfectly accompany the emotive lyrical outpour found across the album. Continuing along the theme of reflection, Melero weaves through painful and emotional experiences of love, cynicism, and touches on how awful humans can be to one another. Set for release on 16th April, New Age Filth is sure to appease HAIL THE SUN's powerful fanbase, who have been clamouring for more from the band since the release of 2018's Mental Knife, and newcomers alike. The album is available for pre-order now at https://hts.lnk.to/newagefilth HAIL THE SUN Links https://www.facebook.com/hailthesun https://twitter.com/hailthesun https://www.instagram.com/hailthesun My thoughts on 'Domino' is pretty cool to listen too lyrically its feels like piece the veil mixed with some classic cohead and cambria, the track changes direction a couple of times in the first couple of mins which is awesome it shows too me some really cool ideas different things being tried, packed with melody and hooks, energy guitars with some punch and a mixture of some great tones. Domino is great really enjoyed this track.     Moving over to our next single this week and a brand new band ONE LAST DAY unleash debut single NOT READY TO DIE OUT NOW   South-East rockers ONE LAST DAY are proud to unleash their debut single NOT READY TO DIE upon the world. With its deeply introspective lyrics, the track explores dark times that will resonate with many, but rather than accepting this as the reality we allow to dominate, the listener is reminded that we can choose our own outcome. As with all debut tracks, this is the first opportunity to see what One Last Day has on offer, where they sit on the kick-ass spectrum.  Not Ready To Die provides us with a riff-centric slice of accessible rock with the meat and muscle of metal. With a nuanced grasp of mixing different phrasings, the band effortlessly slide between rigid structure and blazing breakdowns, all neatly held together by the experienced vocals of Alex Willox (ex Bad Solution).    Alex Willox (vocals) brings some insight about the band and track: "Since myself and the guys got in contact I felt an instant connection to their artistic passion and desire to play and immediately wanted to be a part of this brotherhood or fellowship. Let's say fellowship! Not Ready To Die is a track that I feel many will resonate with during these trying times for many. If we can all take one thing away from this track it's, please don't give up on whatever journey you are on no matter the circumstance. We need to be there for each other.”, John Harmsworth (guitar) continues: "This track is living proof we can adjust our journeys. All band members had to be remote during the whole process which can be tough but like millions of others out there right now we are getting it done and learning boatloads of knowledge also.  Our way of being there for our friends and loved ones is through our passion of playing and delivering great music. We hope you will all enjoy our music too and cannot wait to fire away on this journey together!".   Check out not ready to die here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j75mydD6HKc&feature=youtu.be   About One Last Day It started with a single jam session between two guitar loving friends. Gareth Stapleton and John Harmsworth knew they had the start of something that could work. With a shared desire to deliver heavy yet accessible music, One Last Day's journey was born. Of course at this point there were no other members, no plan, not even the name! Through the creative development, the guys started playing with different musicians and cementing the direction they wanted to progress, with the addition of Adrian Osman on drums, they found a kindred spirit and also the solid backdrop on which they could deliver.  As active members of the South East music scene, they already knew of the vocal prowess of Alex Willox, and after a few hours in a dingy practice room, One Last Day had found it's voice, literally. It's an interesting time to be setting out in the industry and One Last Day are accepting the challenge. One day soon, these guys will be tearing up stages everywhere, come along for the ride and remember where you heard them first!      ONE LAST DAY are: Alex Willox - Vocals Gareth Stapleton – Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals John Harmsworth – Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals Bob Brockwell - Bass Adrian Osman – Drums Credit: Sam Tracii (Bass on recording of Not Ready To Die)   ONE LAST DAY links Official Website Facebook Instagram Youtube Spotify Bandcamp   My thoughts this is ONE LAST DAY debut single, not ready to die, I think the key thing to remember here is this is a band that have come out during a pandemic there are no guide books ever written for how to launch a band during a global pandemic when you can't tour and barley rehearse together let along play any shows, so with that in mind, the So with the being said Not ready opens with a bluesy style solo, the guitar work on this track is absolutely epic there constantly changing between chuggy riffs and little mini solos which is pretty cool, vocally I feel it's a pretty safe display of melody. Overall, for the band's first single its not terrible and I feel with time naturally they will grow and the songs will get stronger, it's a decent place to begin and I enjoy their first single     Lastly our last single of the week New album The Greatest Mistake Of My Life out 16th April 2021 via SharpTone Records HOLDING ABSENCE have released their deeply anthemic new single 'Afterlife'. The track is the second single from their upcoming sophomore album, The Greatest Mistake Of My Life, due for release on 16th April 2021 via SharpTone Records.  Check out the video for 'Afterlife' here: https://youtu.be/qfe8NvYSPmY Impassioned frontman Lucas Woodland comments: "We truly believe this song to be one of our best yet, with its pounding chorus and emotive vocals. Just listening to this song is making us itch for the return of live music so we can get out and play it to you all!  "With this song released, we're one step closer to releasing our sophomore album The Greatest Mistake Of My Life and we can't wait for you guys to hear it!" Stream 'Afterlife' and pre-order The Greatest Mistake Of My Life here: https://shrptn.co/afterlife Check out the video for HOLDING ABSENCE's previous single 'Beyond Belief' here: https://youtu.be/BoFUI1Xv4Dw  The band comment on the new album: “This album is about telling stories that are presented through the lens of hindsight, regret and looking back. There are songs that celebrate life when faced with death, and others that speak to the choices we make about how we live our lives. The fear of love, newfound respect for life and the covering up of depression are all subjects that rear their head. The Greatest Mistake Of My Life exercises emotion in many ways, and that was an important thing for us to do, because emotion isn't rigid – it's not just love or joy or sadness – it's a lot of things.” HOLDING ABSENCE is: Lucas Woodland - Vocals  Scott Carey - Guitar James Joseph - Bass Ashley Green - Drums HOLDING ABSENCE  links http://holdingabsence.com/ http://facebook.com/HoldingAbsence http://twitter.com/HoldingAbsence http://instagram.com/HoldingAbsence http://sharptonerecords.co/   My thoughts on 'Afterlife' well I have been waiting for the follow to Holding absence debut album this is the single  track from the guys new album The greatest Mistake of my life , and straight away I am hooked, the feel of this straight away feels like it's like an arena anthem, packed with strong melody and hooks, this really feels like a huge step in terms of progression from everything from writing and recording to production, it's a track with some real punch and energy to it. 2021 is a year to keep eyes on these guys.     You can find this episode and previous episodes from Setting The Tone in the below links Spotfiy https://open.spotify.com/show/6Jj9SsrXxve44839dptihN… Apple https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/setting-the-tone/id1499390718 Google https://podcasts.google.com/?q=setting%20the%20tone podbean https://Settingthetone2.podbean.com   Thank you to our sponsor @The Guitar Ninja Academy, the best place to become a guitar master.
