In this leadership podcast, Niels Brabandt interviews Kevin Dias, author of The Problem-First Method, about why organisations so often jump to solutions before they have properly understood the problem. The conversation explores why smart teams still build features that do not stick, how customer requests can become misleading solution language, why competitor pressure is not a strategy, and how sales urgency can push organisations into avoidable product and leadership mistakes. Kevin Dias explains how teams can create better decision systems, including feature alignment documents, problem-first problem statements and practical methods for resisting premature solution thinking. The discussion is especially relevant for executives, founders, product leaders, sales leaders, HR leaders, transformation leaders and decision-makers navigating AI pressure, customer demands and competitive noise. Niels Brabandt and Kevin Dias also discuss the difference between saying no and asking better questions. The goal is not to slow business down. The goal is to ensure that organisations solve real problems, not invented ones, and that every feature, initiative or transformation project is connected to genuine value. AI is changing business, leadership and organisational decision-making. Yet is it truly thinking, or merely producing fast and fluent responses that can reinforce existing assumptions? In this high-level leadership interview, Niels Brabandt speaks with Cambridge Professor and AI pioneer Dr Mark Khater about the future of AI, the limits of machine intelligence and the capabilities leaders must protect in themselves and their organisations. Dr Mark Khater explains why machines may process fast, but humans must still think deep. The conversation explores AI as infrastructure, not merely technology, the strategic importance of signal over scale, the danger of using AI only for cost-cutting, and the leadership risk of silent correlation failure, where organisations become aligned around the wrong answer. Niels Brabandt and Dr Mark Khater also discuss bias in AI models, the cultural limitations of English-dominant training data, the problem of "yes models", and why leaders need diverse thinkers, devil's advocates and stronger judgment in an AI-enabled world. For decision-makers in business, this episode provides a clear and practical perspective on responsible AI leadership, organisational capability and the future of work. Regulation is often described as a barrier to business. In this leadership episode, Niels Brabandt challenges that assumption and explains how decision-makers can separate useful regulation from unnecessary red tape. The episode explores why regulation matters, how it protects safety, security, markets and trust, and why simplistic anti-regulation arguments fail in real-world business. Niels Brabandt discusses examples from financial services, transport platforms such as Uber, accommodation platforms such as Airbnb, sustainability, compliance departments and internal legal functions. The core leadership question is not whether regulation is convenient. The core question is whether it creates value. Regulation that improves safety, security, transparency and accountability deserves disciplined implementation. Regulation that only creates administration, paperwork and internal friction deserves careful challenge and redesign. This episode is for executives, founders, HR leaders, compliance leaders, transformation leaders and decision-makers who need to turn legal requirements into practical organisational behaviour without damaging productivity, innovation or customer focus.

What happens when the one person who truly understands a critical system, client, process or workaround is suddenly unavailable? In this episode, Niels Brabandt examines the Druid Knowledge Problem: the leadership risk that arises when essential organisational knowledge is held by one person or a very small group of people and is not properly documented, shared or embedded in the business. The issue often begins positively. Someone is engaged, experienced and trusted. They know how the software works, which client contact matters, which process is unofficially decisive and how to keep legacy systems running. Yet this strength can quickly become a single point of failure. Niels Brabandt explains why Druid Knowledge is not merely a documentation issue. It is a leadership issue, a trust issue and a business continuity issue. Employees may avoid documenting their expertise when they fear becoming replaceable. Leaders therefore need to create predictable behaviour, psychological safety and credible commitments before knowledge transfer can work. This episode is essential listening for executives, founders, HR leaders, organisational development professionals and decision-makers who want to reduce operational risk, protect critical knowledge and build more resilient organisations. Topics covered include: - What the Druid Knowledge Problem means in modern organisations - Why undocumented expertise creates business continuity risk - How owner-led and mid-sized businesses become vulnerable - Why employees may resist documentation - The link between trust, leadership behaviour and knowledge transfer - How to reduce single points of failure without threatening employees - Why Sustainable Leadership requires resilient knowledge structures Learn more about Niels Brabandt and his work in Sustainable Leadership, leadership development, organisational development, coaching, consulting, mentoring and interim management at www.NB-Networks.biz. In this episode of the Niels Brabandt leadership podcast, Niels Brabandt interviews Danny M Goldberg on one of the most relevant leadership questions in modern business: is it more important to be liked, or to be respected? The conversation explores why kindness matters, but why kindness without boundaries can turn into people pleasing, overextension, and professional exploitation. Danny M Goldberg discusses how professionals can set boundaries, say no without becoming rude, and avoid losing their own priorities in the attempt to please everyone else. Niels Brabandt and Danny M Goldberg also examine a major leadership risk: the over-reliance on reliable people. When the most capable employees always receive the most urgent work, leaders may unintentionally reward competence with overload. This can damage performance, motivation, retention, and trust. This interview is particularly relevant for executives, founders, HR leaders, managers, team leads, and decision-makers who want to build a culture of respect, accountability, sustainable leadership, and healthier workplace boundaries. Key topics include leadership, respect, being liked versus being respected, boundaries at work, saying no professionally, people pleasing, workplace culture, management behaviour, over-reliance on high performers, project management, delegation, executive leadership, sustainable leadership, and business communication. Tuurlijk is AI eng. What happens when markets stop behaving like machines and start behaving like living systems? In this episode, Richard Brennan joins Niels to explore passive investing, complex adaptive systems, volatility suppression, and the hidden forces reshaping modern market structure. From structured products and reflexive flows to demographics, trend following, and the fragile illusion of equilibrium, this conversation asks whether markets are becoming more unstable precisely because investors believe they have become safer. A thoughtful and layered discussion about why price discovery may be weakening, why trends persist, and why systematic strategies may be more relevant in a world increasingly shaped by feedback loops.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Rich on Twitter.Episode TimeStamps:00:00 - Introduction to the episode and overview of today's discussion02:22 - Richard Brennan breaks down passive investing through the lens of complex adaptive systems06:51 - What “complex adaptive systems” actually means in markets14:53 - Why passive investing changes market structure without individual investors realizing it24:06 - Niels discusses structured products, volatility suppression, and market fragility29:23 - How demographic shifts could eventually reshape passive investing trends35:37 - Trend following performance update and the TTU Trend Barometer38:48 - Listener question on variance, volatility, and correlation in systematic trend following42:04 - The “murmuration” analogy and why markets behave like flocks instead of machines48:31 - Why equilibrium theory survives despite failing to explain real markets51:17 - The endogenous engine of markets and the mechanics of reflexivity57:47 - How trend followers align with the architecture of modern markets01:03:12 - Why passive investing weakens balancing forces and strengthens trends01:13:43 - The statistical evidence showing markets structurally trend over time01:21:18 - Why trend following may become even more effective in the futureCopyright © 2025 – CMC AG – All Rights Reserved----PLUS: Whenever you're ready... here are 3 ways I can help you in your investment Journey:1. eBooks that cover key topics that you need to know about In my eBooks, I put together some key discoveries and things I have learnt during the more than 3 decades I have worked in the Trend Following industry, which I hope you will find useful. What is toxic leadership really and where does the line begin? In this week's Leadership Podcast, Niels Brabandt analyses one of the most misunderstood leadership concepts in modern business: toxic leadership. Based on scientific definitions, real-world leadership practice and organisational reality, this episode explores why many organisations wrongly label demanding leadership as toxic and why this confusion creates significant risks for business performance, leadership quality and workplace culture. This episode covers: • The scientific definition of toxic leadership • The research of Marcia Lynn Whicker and Jean Lipman-Blumen • The difference between tough leadership and toxic leadership • Why discomfort at work is not automatically toxicity • Toxic behaviours that damage people and organisations • Leadership accountability, performance management and consequences • Leadership qualification and professional leadership development • How organisations prevent toxic leadership through awareness and culture If you are a leader, executive, board member, HR professional or decision-maker, this episode provides clear guidance on identifying destructive leadership behaviour while protecting high-performance cultures.

Hari Krishnan joins Niels and Cem for a deep exploration of what happens when markets become dominated by flows rather than fundamentals. Drawing on his new paper with Mike Green and Stefan Sturm, Hari explains why rising passive ownership may weaken price discovery, amplify concentration in mega-cap stocks and create conditions for reflexive instability. The conversation expands far beyond indexing, touching on volatility targeting, leverage, dispersion, inflation, government intervention and the growing dependence of the global economy on rising asset prices. Along the way, Cem and Hari debate whether policymakers can continue stabilizing an increasingly fragile system, what could trigger a structural break, and how investors should think about positioning in a world where flows may matter more than fundamentals.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Cem on Twitter.Follow Hari on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps: 00:00 - Hari warns about a fragile financial system dependent on a handful of decision-makers01:06 - Niels introduces Hari's new paper with Mike Green and Stefan Sturm03:00 - Why passive investing may weaken the link between fundamentals and prices08:40 - The key assumptions behind the model12:49 - How passive adoption accelerated structural market changes15:11 - Cem explains why markets may now drive the economy rather than reflect it23:38 - Can policymakers control a complex financial system?27:03 - How passive flows amplify mega-cap concentration31:22 - The changing role of dispersion, volatility and positioning41:04 - What the model suggests about instability at high passive ownership levels46:21 - Why 2022 may have been a warning sign51:55 - Inflation, government intervention and the limits of market control55:33 - What could trigger a systemic break?01:07:28 - Political and demographic pressures beneath the system01:10:43 - Hari's portfolio implications: stay long, hedge smartly and own inflation sensitivityCopyright © 2025 – CMC AG – All Rights Reserved----PLUS: Whenever you're ready... here are 3 ways I can help you in your investment Journey:1. eBooks that cover key topics that you need to know about In my eBooks, I put together some key discoveries and things I have learnt during the more than 3 decades I have worked in the Trend Following industry, which I hope you will find useful. Why This Episode MattersNiels Bultink earned his PhD at QuTech under Leonardo DiCarlo, where he performed some of the first real-time feedback experiments on solid-state qubits — the foundational primitive behind quantum error correction. He spun Qblox out of TU Delft in 2018, and has grown it to roughly 140 people serving 150+ customers worldwide, mostly on revenue rather than venture capital, before raising a $26M Series A in 2024.This conversation matters now because the goalposts for useful quantum computing have moved closer in the last 12 months. Recent estimates suggest breaking RSA may need ~10,000–100,000 qubits, not tens of millions — and at that scale, the control stack is no longer a lab afterthought. It is a strategic supply chain question, which is why the DOE just picked Qblox to manufacture Fermilab's QICK platform domestically. If you care about how quantum computers actually get built — the layer between the qubit and the software — this is the episode for you.SponsorThis episode is brought to you by Outshift, Cisco's incubation engine. The need for computational power is rapidly increasing in every sector. From drug discovery to material innovation to complex financial modeling, classical systems are reaching their absolute limits. It's time for a paradigm shift. The answer is a scalable quantum network, built on open standards and vendor-agnostic architecture. By uniting distributed quantum devices, you unlock limitless computational power.Learn more about the Cisco Universal Quantum Switch at Outshift.com.Go deeper with the blog post. What We Get IntoWhy the IBM Quantum Experience originally needed a meter of rack equipment per qubit, and what had to change architecturally to scale past thatHow a quantum control stack can be genuinely qubit-agnostic — and where modality differences actually live (mostly in the analog front end, not the digital core)Why pre-compiled pulse sequences hit a wall, and how dynamic, adaptive control is a prerequisite for fault tolerance, not a nice-to-haveThe role of Qblox's SYNQ and LINQ protocols in achieving picosecond-level synchronization and low-latency feedback across hundreds of coresWhy FPGAs are the right substrate today, and why the field will need to move toward ASICs as production volumes growThe strategic logic behind manufacturing Fermilab's open-source QICK platform — and how it complements rather than cannibalizes the Qblox ClusterWhat the Quantum Utility Block partnership with QuantWare and Q-CTRL actually delivers, including a full-stack demo built in a weekend at APS March MeetingWhy Qblox opened a Boston HQ and started U.S. manufacturing in Canton, Massachusetts in 2026, and how geopolitics is reshaping quantum supply chainsNiels's read on which qubit modalities are gaining ground fastest right now — including a notable jump in spin qubits and neutral atomsWhat's special about the Dutch quantum ecosystem, and why a value-chain culture produced multiple revenue-driven hardware companiesResources & LinksGuest & CompanyQblox — Delft-based control stack company at the center of this episodeNiels Bultink on Google Scholar — Niels's research record from his QuTech years, useful background on his feedback control workQblox North America HQ announcement — Context for the Boston expansion discussed in the episodeQblox "Made in America" manufacturing announcement — Background on the Canton, MA manufacturing milestonePartnerships DiscussedFermilab × Qblox QICK partnership announcement — The DOE-backed deal for Qblox to manufacture and distribute QICKQuantum Utility Block press release — Joint reference system with QuantWare and Q-CTRL referenced in the episodeAPS 2024 full-stack demo recap — The 48-hour conference-floor build Niels mentionsFoundational Paper"Feedback Control of a Solid-State Qubit Using High-Fidelity Projective Measurement" — Ristè, Bultink et al., the 2012 work that grounds Niels's perspective on real-time controlFunding & Market ContextQblox Series A announcement — Context for the revenue-first growth story discussedThe Quantum Insider on the Series A — Independent coverage with quotes from QuantonationKey Quotes & InsightsOn why the control stack is more than picks and shovels: "Sometimes companies like us are called picks and shovels. It's a nice analogy, but it doesn't hold entirely. The qubits are just the bottom layer of the stack — and all the other layers are also crucial to develop."On flexibility as a requirement, not a feature: Pre-compiled, rigid sequences can't support quantum error correction. Adaptive, real-time control flows aren't a performance upgrade — they're "a basic need for this new era of quantum fault tolerance."On the moving goalposts for useful quantum computing: A year ago, breaking RSA looked like tens of millions of qubits. Recent estimates put it at 10,000–100,000 — "a factor hundred smaller what we now think we need versus a year ago."On the future of FPGAs: FPGAs are the right substrate for today's flexibility, but already at current production volumes, "it makes more sense to put things in chips, in ASICs."On the Dutch ecosystem: What sets Delft apart isn't a slogan about ecosystems but a value-chain culture — companies that focus on one layer, work together, and grow on customer revenue rather than venture rounds.Stay in the EcosystemSubscribe on Apple Podcasts,

Today, Niels and Alan examine a market shaped by two forces pulling in opposite directions: AI's promise of higher productivity and the inflationary pressure of geopolitical stress. From distorted economic data and shifting rate expectations to energy shocks, fiscal pressure, and the changing role of trend following, this conversation explores why traditional portfolios may need more flexibility than they once did. Alan also shares a world exclusive on the launch of his Regime Adaptive Fund, built around the idea that portfolios should not simply sit through changing regimes, but adjust as markets, inflation, and correlations evolve. A timely discussion on risk, resilience, and the limits of old playbooks.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Alan on Twitter.Episode TimeStamps:00:00 - Introduction to Top Traders Unplugged00:36 - Niels welcomes Alan Dunne back to the Systematic Investor Series01:31 - How AI is distorting economic data, earnings, and construction trends06:13 - UK council elections, Reform UK, and pressure on political assumptions09:00 - Trend following update and the shift in fixed income exposure13:35 - Why recent macro shocks have created a favorable backdrop for trend followers16:45 - AI, Iran, and the collision between positive and negative supply shocks26:22 - Graham Capital's research on macro performance across monetary regimes37:09 - AQR's view on multi-asset portfolios, trend following, and inflation risk46:07 - Why diversification still comes with discomfort51:26 - Should trend following trade equities when stacked on equities?56:38 - Alan reveals the launch of the Regime Adaptive Fund01:05:42 - Equity market strength, hidden risks, and portfolio construction today01:08:46 - Closing thoughts and upcoming episode previewCopyright © 2025 – CMC AG – All Rights Reserved----PLUS: Whenever you're ready... here are 3 ways I can help you in your investment Journey:1. eBooks that cover key topics that you need to know about In my eBooks, I put together some key discoveries and things I have learnt during the more than 3 decades I have worked in the Trend Following industry, which I hope you will find useful. What many of us are missing in modern life is a right of passage that brings us into an expansion on our path through sacred initiation. And when that right of passage is performed on sacred lands that have magical beings like Ireland, it can be even more incredible. Today's guest is Neils Vantzuriel. For over 10 years, he and his partner have guided highly successful women into Ireland's wild landscapes and to forgotten sacred sites to resolve their private ache of self abandonment. Join us, to find out more! Neils Vantzuriel is deeply dedicated to personal and spiritual development. He is an archeologist with intimate knowledge of Ireland's sacred ancient sites, living entities holding secrets from millennia past. Liminal spaces, where the veil is thin. Found in forgotten remote areas such as secluded grottos, caves, sacred wells or specific structures that contain “memory traces” or specialized artifacts of a period of personal challenge, learning, and vulnerability and represent a change in identity, shape, social cohesion, and transform individuals from one social role to another. Neils is a Co-architect of The Arrival Method, a 4-6 month sacred initiation culminating in a 6 day Rite of Passage journey. Neils guides women along their journey of reconnection to ancient wisdom, spiritual healing through ritual and story telling for self discovery. Watch or listen to the show for practical tips to stop self abandoning and ways to become the woman you always felt you were meant to be. You’re Invited! LEARN MORE: AdventuresInQuietPlaces.info   NIELS VANTZURIEL BIO Niels is a Rite of Passage facilitator and the co-architect of The Arrival Method. For over 10 years, he has guided highly successful women into Ireland's wild landscapes and to forgotten sacred sites to resolve their private ache of self-abandonment. Moving beyond the exhausted “no pain, no gain” paradigm of traditional growth, Niels pioneers the “Pleasure Path”; a ‘biological exit strategy’ for the overworked and burned out professional woman. By blending deep trance work, transformative storytelling, and the hard neurobiology of bliss, he helps women safely bypass their brain’s logic gatekeeper to fundamentally rewire their subconscious operating system. His work utilizes ecstatic states to induce transient hypofrontality, allowing for profound neuroplasticity and rapid identity-level shifts without the need for looping therapy or trauma-mining. Niels does not host retreats; he curates structural identity upgrades. Through carefully held ceremonies at hidden thresholds far off the tourist paths, he provides the exact space, science, and containment required for a woman to stop fixing herself and finally step into her undeniable sovereignty. blend of spiritual depth, practical strategy, and bold authenticity, Niels brings catalytic energy and deep insight to every conversation. Cem argues that recent market strength is not just a reaction to better news, but part of a broader effort to manage risk, support collateral values and prepare for deeper geopolitical stress. From rising military spending and the Strait of Hormuz to treasury demand, QIS growth, AI and the next inflation wave, this conversation is about what happens when markets stop being passive observers and become tools in a larger strategic contest.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Cem on Twitter.Episode TimeStamps: 00:00:01 - Introduction to Top Traders Unplugged00:00:35 - Niels and Cem reconnect and set the stage00:01:51 - Truth, narratives and the blurring of reality00:04:15 - Fed independence, politics and credibility00:07:45 - The rise of QIS and demand for alternative strategies00:12:52 - Trend following update and current market performance00:15:23 - Framing the disconnect between markets and reality00:20:09 - Liquidity, market rallies and strategic positioning00:25:08 - Are markets being actively managed00:34:51 - The real geopolitical battle and the role of China00:40:32 - What investors may be underpricing00:52:55 - Why markets can rise despite growing risks00:55:56 - Treasury demand, intervention and future policy paths00:58:04 - Inflation, debt monetization and long term outlook01:02:16 - AI, deflation and the political responseCopyright © 2025 – CMC AG – All Rights Reserved----PLUS: Whenever you're ready... here are 3 ways I can help you in your investment Journey:1. eBooks that cover key topics that you need to know about In my eBooks, I put together some key discoveries and things I have learnt during the more than 3 decades I have worked in the Trend Following industry, which I hope you will find useful. Markets are currently being shaped by geopolitical uncertainty, rapid technological change, and shifting investor behavior. In this episode, Andrew and Niels explore how these forces are influencing trend following and systematic investing. They discuss recent market volatility, the impact of global conflict on asset prices, and why traditional diversification assumptions are being tested. A key focus is the evolving structure of the CTA industry, including the rise of ETFs and the debate between complexity and simplicity in generating alpha. The conversation also examines replication strategies, implementation costs, and whether simpler approaches may deliver more efficient and consistent outcomes over time.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Andrew on Twitter.Episode TimeStamps: 01:27 - Geopolitical uncertainty and parallels to past crises03:13 - Why this crisis feels different from previous ones04:24 - Ideology, negotiation, and unintended consequences06:16 - AI, technology, and the changing global landscape10:58 - Technology dependence and societal tradeoffs12:37 - Market environment and trend following conditions16:02 - CTA performance and the macro “do over” of 202621:11 - Traditional markets vs systematic strategies22:39 - Hedge fund losses and dispersion across strategies25:48 - CTA alpha, simplicity, and ETF performance32:42 - Complexity vs efficiency in portfolio construction39:40 - Hidden implementation costs in systematic trading52:21 - QIS strategies and the illusion of beta57:43 - Structural challenges in QIS products01:03:12 - Index construction, research, and innovation constraints01:08:47 - Fees, transparency, and real investor costs01:12:41 - Product evolution and the future of systematic investingCopyright © 2025 – CMC AG – All Rights Reserved----PLUS: Whenever you're ready... here are 3 ways I can help you in your investment Journey:1. eBooks that cover key topics that you need to know about In my eBooks, I put together some key discoveries and things I have learnt during the more than 3 decades I have worked in the Trend Following industry, which I hope you will find useful. Markets often appear logical in hindsight, yet behave unpredictably in real time. In this episode, Niels and Yoav explore how recent events, from geopolitical shocks to shifting narratives, reveal the limits of traditional explanations. They discuss why assets like gold and bonds no longer react as expected, how flows and positioning can dominate price action, and why dispersion across managers increases during periods of stress. The conversation also examines the role of machine learning, the impact of volatility on execution, and the challenges of managing risk in fast moving markets.
