I'm going to take you back to about a year ago. It was February of 2023 and Gouge Away was in the midst of a return. This was after several years of staying relatively quiet and a behind the scenes breakup. Gouge Away was in Portland having a band practice when they reached out to Militarie Gun about showing up to watch them play on a kick-ass bill of Spiritual Cramp and Supercrush. Ian Shelton and the rest of the members of Militarie Gun had other plans for the night. After some convincing, they set up plans for Gouge Away to make an epic return. In the middle of their set they turned the spotlight over to Gouge Away, who came on the stage to play two songs (One new). It was a night to remember and got the ball rolling for the new music that Gouge Away planned to eventually release. "Idealized" came out shortly after, and the band released "Stuck in a Dream" on January 9. This is setting the table for Deep Sage to arrive on March 15. It's a record that Christina Michelle says will be different, and at times “weird,” but if the first two songs tell us anything: it's that Gouge Away hasn't lost a step. This group is ready to not only break through the surface, but also become one of the premier hardcore bands. It has been a rollercoaster of a ride for the group. They released Burnt Sugar in 2018 and toured non-stop up until the pandemic. Then came the low-key breakup where Christina Michelle never thought the band would be together again. Now, the band is back, with a refreshed sound, a mature outlook, and ready to show the world that they are here to stay.     Gouge Away:   Website - https://www.gougeaway.com/   Bandcamp - https://gougeawayfl.bandcamp.com/album/deep-sage

Philadelphia hardcore band Soul Glo put out one of the best records of 2022: Diaspora Problems. It made it on many "best of" lists, Jeff Rosenstock tweeted about how amazing it was and the band My Chemical Romance invited Soul Glo to open for them. But, what we've learned as the group have transitioned from a DIY punk band to being one of the names constantly referenced in the current hardcore reconnaissance is that they like ska. So we brought on bassist GG Guerra to discuss the genre. He talks about his love for Arrogant Sons of Bitches, specifically their landmark record, Three Cheers For Disappointment. We also discuss Folly--Soul Glo singer Pierce Jordan participated in a cover of Folly's song "Broken" with members of Catbite, We Are The Union, The Best of the Worst and Gouge Away for 2 Minutes to Late Night. We also talked about Soul Glo's love for JER. GG assures us that at some point in the near future, we can expect a JER/Soul Glo collaboration. We talk about so much more. Ska Against Racism, GG's Choking Victim tattoo, GG's old ska band, signing to Epitaph, how the film Whiplash inspired the idea for the video for "Jump!! (Or Get Jumped!!!) ((by the future))" and we dig deep into the recording of Soul Glo's Diaspora Problems. Plus Adam reveals the name of Atomic Garden Recording Studio's owner Jack Shirley's old ska band!PickinnputtinPickinnputtin-Music and golf with guests from both worlds. Topics of Discussion: Christmas presents from listeners, the difficulty of Medieval artists in depicting literally any animal, our new Discord server, the usefulness of thumbs, Jebus, worshipping the Baals, a truly humiliating death scene, the etymology of "cowpoke," the Bible scene that almost passes the Bechdel Test, Gideon, a sexy (???) fig tree, BNRA, the first Spring Break, the Texan Shibboleth, structural liontegrity. Wow, did we have fun at the Yowler record release show on Wednesday night! If you haven't ever heard them, go right now to your favorite avenue for that sorta thing and check 'em out. Any how, this week Steve and I took a right turn off of our regular scheduled path, and landed in the land of Kendrick Lamar. Steve listened to his masterful album, "DAMN," and I took another right turn on down to Florida, where I sampled Gouge Away's brand new album, "Burnt Sugar." We also reveal where we stand in this whole Lacroix debacle. Enjoy! - Carl

What exactly is Jammerz? Like, what is the show’s ‘mission statement’? Is any of this shit actually helpful or is every episode just ANOTHER excuse for Megan and Wendi to fuck around??? This week, the trio is forced to explain the half-baked mission of this podcast because of a hypercritical email from ‘Thomas’, a new listener that happens to be banging Wendi. Before dissecting what shall be referred to as ‘THE EMAIL’, the Jammerz recap their week on a phone diet and a follow-up on Wendi’s recently condemned apartment. PLUS, Stephen (@thepenta) brags about his negative STD test results and dangling from skyscrapers THEN, Megan (@handsomepartybutt) and Wendi (@wendibird82) present a dramatic popcorn reading of the lengthy, most man-splaning email ever written. But… does he actually have good advice? Can the gang benefit from his suggestion to start microdosing while taking a cold morning shower?? After defending the efficacy and entertainment value (it’s a fucking COMEDY podcast, bro) of the show, they leave you with only one lingering question… where in the world did Megan and Wendi get their best friendship toilet?!? *******++++++++*******++++++++******* Support the screaming in your life!!!
