Fulfillment has been a hot topic in our Proof to Product communities lately so I wanted to bring on a special guest to chat about how fulfillment works from the 3PL side of things. I was joined by Allen Befort of Givington’s, a fulfillment company that pays attention to the small details so you can focus on the bigger picture of your business. Allen jokes that he kind of fell into starting this business with a friend.  Seven years later they’ve seen great success and pride themselves on the relationships they’ve built with their customers and the genuine, personalized experience that they can create with their partners. Allen and I covered a lot of ground in this episode and it's rich with information for anyone who may be considering outsourcing their warehousing and fulfillment process. We went over the logistics of working with a 3PL including how to know if you’re ready, technology integrations they have, questions to ask when interviewing fulfillment centers and common pricing models.  We also talk about why it’s critical to build trust and relationships when outsourcing fulfillment.   ON TODAY’S EPISODE: What a third party logistics company or fulfillment center does How Allen got into this business The types of companies they usually work with Key indicators that you might want to outsource this part of your business How most of his clients have come to him What you can do to best prepare for outsourcing fulfillment How having barcodes helps to reduce human error How pricing works for fulfillment centers The best platforms for automating the fulfillment process Using 3PLs for marketplace selling Questions you should ask when considering outsourcing Misconceptions that people have when it comes with working for 3PLs How his company works with customers who have bulk, once a month shipments What’s coming next for his business   RESOURCES:Shopify WooCommerce WordPress Squarespace   MEET ALLEN: Married to Meg, with two cute blonde-haired kids and a third on the way. We live in Fayetteville, AR, an amazing town with a great community of friends. We kind of fell backwards into helping start and build Givington's in 2013 when one of our best friends was launching it and asked if we wanted to come along for the ride. 7 years later...we're still here. Personally, I have a deep love for Chipotle and Tottenham Hotspur soccer.   CONNECT WITH ALLEN:   Website: https://givingtons.com Instagram: @givingtons Facebook: @givingtons   SLOW STEADY GROWTH ARE HOW STRONG BUSINESSES ARE BUILT Building a business is a long game, won with patience, fortitude, intentional decisions and passion. Inside Proof to Product LABS, you’ll receive the support, education and accountability to move your business towards your goals.   Join Proof to Product Labs, our 12-month group coaching program built specifically for product based business owners. Allen Gannett, the Founder of TrackMaven and author of ‘The Creative Curve,’ joins the Social Pros Podcast to talk about how creativity is a learnable skill, the resurrection of organic social, and how to dominate LinkedIn video. Huge thanks to our amazing sponsors for helping us make this happen. Please support them; we couldn't do it without their help! This week: Salesforce Marketing Cloud My Emma Full Episode Details Success on social media has a lot to do with timing. Creativity is one thing, but you also need to consider the rate at which people consume content in each social platform as it correlates with the rate of change of that platform. Founder of TrackMaven, Allen Gannett, articulates it perfectly when he said that to be successful on any social media channel, you must be a citizen of that channel. What you post on Instagram isn’t going to work on Twitter. It doesn’t work like that anymore. You need to understand the subculture of the social channels that you frequent and pay attention to the timing of your schedule cycle. As the pendulum swings back to organic social, brands have a unique opportunity to get ahead of the curve and make organic social work for them. But, you’ve got to be very channel-specific and not afraid to color outside the lines. Allen believes that creativity is a learnable skill, which means if you’re willing to put the work in, you could be well on your way to becoming a mighty social pro. In This Episode: 03:52 – What TrackMaven’s data reveals about paid social vs. organic social 09:19 – Why you need to consider the pace of change in social media and how it relates to what you post, and when you post it 11:33 – Why you need to be a citizen of whatever social platform you’re using 16:46 – The importance of being authentically human on social 17:48 – Why creativity should be seen as a learnable skill 27:19 – How Allen uses episodic video content on LinkedIn 29:56 – A look inside Allen’s content publishing schedule and best practices for pleasing LinkedIn’s algorithm Resources:  Get the new State of Marketing report for free from Salesforce Find out more about the community at SocialMedia.org with a special form for Social Pros listeners Read Salesforce’s FREE e-book, 50 Social Media Best Practices Learn more about TrackMaven and how it can help you analyze marketing performance across every channel Read Allen Gannett’s book, The Creative Curve Visit SocialPros.com for more insights from your favorite social media marketers.

“There’s no such thing as natural born talent.” Rewind to December 2014 and my guest today was at rock-bottom. With a negative bank account he couldn’t even afford to buy his fiance a Christmas card. But it was in this lowest of places that Allen Brouwer found the clarity he needed to transform his life. Faced with the cold realization that he’d been a ‘wantrepreneur’ playing at business, he decided to stop pointing the finger elsewhere and take 100% responsibility for his life. Now, just three years later, Allen has created remarkable success from nothing. He became a self-improvement junkie who studied the world’s top-performers and frantically implementing everything he learned. His investment in himself paid off. He co-founded BestSelf.Co - a winner of Shopify’s first Build a BIGGER Business competition. He made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2016, and is a sought after scale and growth coach. “Know that anything you want to do is 100% possible. The only limitation you have is in your own mind.” We all have dreams for a better life and Allen is proof that you can create a life you feel proud of - regardless of your start point. I find Allen’s story of rapid turnaround so inspiring because he’s entirely self-made. While Allen Brouwer probably wouldn't call the system outlined in his new “Self Journal” a productivity formula, that’s exactly what it is. He and his business partner, Cathryn created the Self Journal for themselves as a tool to help them run multiple businesses. When they did and began to realize the power of what they’d created, they decided to launch the Self Journal as a Kickstarter campaign - and were fully funded within 28 hours. When Anthony first saw their video he was blown away and bought his own Self Journal immediately. You can hear about this productivity tool, why it’s different and ultra effective, and how you can get your own free PDF copy, on this episode of In The Arena. Applying a New Daily Productivity Formula, with Allen Brouwer - Ep 89 @BestSelfCoClick To Tweet Part of Allen’s Productivity Formula: The 13-week goal-setting roadmap. One of the ingenious things that make the Self Journal so helpful is that it provides a 13-week framework by which anyone can accomplish any goal. That may sound outrageous, but keep reading. The premise is that most people procrastinate and never accomplish their goals because they set too large of a time frame for its completion. By crunching the timeframe into just 13 weeks, action is required every day - and you’ll be amazed how quickly significant steps can be taken. Listen to how Allen describes the process to discover how you can make use of it, on this episode. If you didn’t do something brag-worthy, you weren’t very productive ~ Anthony Iannarino One of the markers Anthony uses to gauge his own productivity is whether or not he did something he really wants to tell other people about. Was there an accomplishment in your day that you are excited about? Did you reach a marker or milestone of some sort that has you jazzed? If so, you were undoubtedly productive. If not, you probably weren’t. You can hear Anthony discuss this concept with his guest, Allen Brouwer, co-creator of the Self Journal on this episode, so be sure you make the time to listen. If you didn’t do something brag-worthy, you weren’t very productive ~ Anthony Iannarino @BestSelfCoClick To Tweet Do you write down your goals? Do you write them down repeatedly? Here’s why you should. We’ve all heard that the chance of fulfilling your goals increases dramatically simply by writing them down. But Allen Brouwer says that your goal-accomplishment success rate goes up even more when you write down your goals repeatedly. He’s in the habit of writing down his goals every day - sometimes multiple times every day. In this conversation with Anthony you’ll hear him explain how he discovered this productivity hack, why he does it repeatedly, and the amazing results he’s seen come from it. Focused attention on the most important things accomplishes tons, fast. One of the things you want to come out of your morning or weekly planning time is a very clear focus on what the most important tasks are for you to accomplish each day. Then you’re set up to be productive and ultimately, successful.
