Galway's Eddie McCormack from Galway Bay Golf Club, Joe Lyons from Galway and Matt Donohue from Portumna have returned home following their performances with the Irish Senior Men's Team, who won the European Championship for the first time in eight years on Saturday. Following a stunning performance from Joe Lyons, who topped the individual leaderboard after the Strokeplay, Ireland beat Spain 4-1 in the Quarter Final, with McCormack a 4 and 3 winner over Gonzalo Paradinas. In the Semi-Final, Ireland were 3.5 to 1.5 winners over Finland, and on Saturday in the final, Ireland beat France 3-2, with Joe Lyons the big winner, beating Albert Galloy 2 and 1 in the deciding match. Portumna's Matt Donohue was the team's captain. All three spoke to John Mulligan on Over The Line.

Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova are through to the women's doubles final after dominant performances in the last eight against Venus Williams and Leylah Fernandez and then another straight-sets victory against Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova in the semi-finals. They will play third seeds Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe in the final after the Canadian-New Zealand duo took out second seeds Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani. In singles, Felix Auger-Aliassime came through a four-set scrap against eighth seed Alex de Minaur to book his place in his second US Open semi-final. The 25-year-old Canadian had to be patient against the world No 8 but managed the match brilliantly. FAA has his swagger back and we are very excited to see what the Canadian does in the semi-final. In the second women's quarter-final of the day, Naomi Osaka beat 11th seed Karolina Muchova in straight sets in another smooth performance on Arthur Ashe. Osaka was brilliant in the first set and stayed solid in the second after Muchova was showing signs of a fightback. The four-time Grand Slam champion, in the middle of another deep run in just her second tournament with new coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, will play eighth seed Amanda Anisimova in the semi-final. He was the Lead Artist in 1995 on "Sti Fotia"(Number 9) and in 2000 on "Nomiza" (Number 20). As backing vocalist in 1989, 1991 and on the Eurovision Winning song "My Number One" for Elena Paparizou representing Greece in 2005.  He took part in the national finals in Cyprus in 1993, 1998 and 2009. All 12 items share the same initials. The contestants do not know the initials until they are revealed shortly before the game starts. Each item has 6 clues. As soon as the contestants know who or what the host is describing, they yell out their name. Their name is their buzzer. If the contestant gets it right, they get a point. If they get it wrong they are out for just that item. The item does have to be pronounced correctly. It is best out of 12 with tiebreakers if needed.
