Matty P Radio Presents: Marks v. Pros & Saturday Morning Cereal
Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week we catch a movie, the San Diego Comic-Con way! Going back to the early aughts and our groups very first encounters with Comic-Con, there has always been one thing that you can count on to be great in every way… the DC Animated Movie Premiere! That's right, for many of us Comic-Con goers, the very first signs that comic books were about to hit the mainstream were watching those very same books, not just superheroes, leap from page to screen. This all started with the 2007 release of Superman: Doomsday a faithful adaptation of the Death of Superman event that saw the death and resurrection of the worlds greatest and 1st superhero. It was a glorious event that was celebrated with SWAG, exhibits, a world premier and panel. Since that awesome night, SDCC has seen many fan favs like, Batman: Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, Flashpoint Paradox, and The Killing Joke. So, let's look at SDCC's DC Animated Movie Premiere Nights through the lens of SDCC22 and the release of Green Lantern: Beware My Power with some of the movie's voice talent including AldisHodge (Black Adam), “Green Lantern John Stewart”, JimmiSimpson (Westworld), “Green Arrow”, JamieGrayHyder (Law & Order: SVU), “Hawkgirl”, BrianBloom, (The A-Team), "Adam Strange". Join Grim Shea, Marke, and Jimmy the Gent as they watch a comic book come to life in maybe the best way possible, with a SDCC crowd of fans who celebrate those themes of Saturday Morning TV!
Dan chats with Jamie Gray Hyder about all things Infintie Warfare, Killzone Shadow Fall, Law and Order, True Blood and so much more!

SVU is back!Airing on September 23, 2021, "And the Empire Strikes Back" and "Never Turn Your Back on Them" make up the two-part premiere for the twenty-third season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Mariska Hargitay stars as the just, empathetic Captain Olivia Benson, with Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, Jamie Gray Hyder, and Demore Barnes rounding out the cast. This confusingly-plotted two-parter follows the SVU team as they pursue a sleazy, entitled Congressman who splits his time between preying on young girls and declaring his presidential ambitions. Oh, and thanks to near-death-experiences and no-holds-barred office politics, two ensemble members ride off into the sunset. And, of course, the episodes also give us a helpful recap of what happened at the end of SVU's sister show Law & Order: Organized Crime.Yeah, it's a lot.Listen to Áine and Kevin weave together an incoherent narrative around sound effect failures, Q, dumb storytelling choices, and the sexual chemistry between Benson and her old partner Elliot Stabler.Follow us on the usual social media suspects:FacebookTwitterInstagramAnd send your mysterious missives to mysterytomepodcast@gmail.com.Mystery to Me is a production of Mystery Sheet LLC.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Jamie Gray Hyder (Law & Order: SVU, COD: Infinite Warfare) took my favorite thing in the world and made it even better when she joined Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. This conversation was a delight, ranging from the direction of the newest season of SVU, to the childhood playtime vibes of portraying a video game character, to the thoughtful ways Jamie engages with social media. She is such a bright light and so funny - enjoy! SVU airs Thursdays on NBC at 9PM | Follow Jamie Gray Hyder on Instagram and Twitter (both @JGHyder) | Book a Cameo from Jamie (and help out a good cause!)
Actress and UGA grad Jamie Gray Hyder joins this episode to talk about all things UGA and what it's like to be the new bulldawg in blue on Law & Order: SVU! As the new series regular, she talks about what it's like work with Ice-T or "Uncle Ice" as she thoughtfully refers to him as and Marsika Hargitay. She also reflects on her days at UGA, being on the international sensation True Blood, and how she became the star of one of the most successful video game franchises ever - Call of Duty. As an ethnically diverse female actress, she also opens up about the sense of responsibility she feels when representing her Lebanese-American roots in the characters she plays, and she shares about the rollercoaster that being in the entertainment business can take you on, including the time when she had to file for unemployment. Oh and by the way she is not only smart, savvy, mutli-talented, and successful, she gives back by lending her star status to helping various veteran causes as well. If you were a True Blood fan, you may remember her as the strikingly beautiful and badass werewolf Danielle on Seasons 5 and 6! For fans of hers and the show, she gives us a little insight on what it was like to be on the set and work with the infamous cast, which starred Anna Paquin and Alexander Skarsgård, to name a few. You can catch the accomplished UGA graduate from the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences (with a degree in Theater & Film Studies) in her latest role as Officer Kat Azar Tamin in Law & Order: SVU. In addition they walked us through memorable moments with their stories in the Industry and lifestyle leadership. We talked with notable fitness personalities which included Denise Austin and Ron Boss. We also talked to Lala Anthony who was in STARZ Network's Power and FOX's Beverly Hills 90210. Our season included 14 episodes of those who made their mark in their respective industries and gave us nuggets of wisdom to empower us in our personal ambitions. We will continue this focus on our 2nd season as our guests share what fuels their tribes, passions and members. This was presented to us by DreamWorks and Netflix through a number of images on the official Voltron accounts, as well as some of the voice actors' social media accounts. Here are some of those images: Also in this podcast, Lexi helps Marc and Greg review Black Site, the third episode from Season 4 of Voltron Legendary Defender. We really enjoyed seeing Matt meet the Voltron team, and then helping Hunk and Pidge develop a way to track Galra fleets throughout the galaxy. We especially liked seeing Lance show Coran and Allura how Kaltenecker helps them make really good milkshakes, and the severe reactions they had to witnessing it first hand. Of course, the main thrust of the episode was Lotor meeting with Zarkon, and Haggar finding out what Lotor was building, and Zarkon putting the "kill on site" APB to the Galra Empire. And we mourn the loss of Narti, who we had hoped to get to know better as time passed. Here are some screenshots from Black Site: As always, Thanks for Listening! Let's Voltron!!
Marc is joined by special guest co-host Lexi Hoffman to interview Jamie Gray Hyder, the voice of Zethrid in Voltron Legendary Defender. After the interview, Lexi and Marc review 3 episodes from Season 2, including Escape from Beta Traz, Stayin' Alive, and Best Laid Plans. Jamie Gray Hyder is best known by Voltron fans as Zethrid, one of Prince Lotor's Generals from Season 3 of Voltron Legendary Defender, but where this booming, scary voice comes from is a mystery to everyone who's ever worked in the booth with Jamie before. She has also played Lt. Salter in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and she's been seen on Graceland and True Blood. It was a pleasure to talk about Voltron Legendary Defender, Lotor and his Generals, Season 3, and for Jamie to answer all the questions submitted by the fans. Lexi Hoffman is a World History Teacher and long-time Voltron fan from Colorado. She won the opportunity to co-host for 1 episode of the podcast and to help interview Jamie, after sending in an email with questions and insuring she could handle a Skype call. For those of you wondering, Greg Tyler will be back in his normal co-host slot next week. Thank you, Lexi, for filling in for Greg and doing a terrific job! It was really fun!
