Yesterday, I went to see James Gunn's new Superman movie starring David Corenswet. What should I expect? The dark, grim, and joylessness of the Snyderverse? Nope. This movie was a lot of fun with a lot of excitement. It has been criticized in the media as being too 'woke' or political, but I didn't see it that way. This was not a great movie but was a very good one and a promising start to the new (and hopefully improved) DC cinematic universe!

Solicitor General Lisamarie Bristol announced insufficient evidence to prosecute charges of reckless driving, unlawful use of a telecommunication device, and failure to obey signs, as the incidents occurred on private property. However, Guevara still faces federal immigration charges, with ICE questioning his legal status despite his work permit and ongoing efforts toward permanent residency. Guevara claims he is being targeted for his journalism, which has drawn local and national attention. STORY 2: Georgia Power to update energy forecasts amid uncertain demand Georgia Power's 2025 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) faces scrutiny for overestimating energy demand, driven by the rapid growth of data centers. Young allegedly got naked on a boat, argued with a 59-year-old man, punched him, and later threw a deep freezer at him, causing a head injury and knocking him into the lake. Deputies found Young hiding under a bed on his houseboat after he ignored their attempts to contact him. He was charged with six offenses, including aggravated assault, and released on bond on July 6. STORY 5: Robert Michener named Gateway85 CID's interim executive director The Gateway85 Community Improvement District (CID) appointed longtime employee Robert Michener as interim executive director following Emory Morsberger's resignation after nearly 20 years of involvement. Said X-Men film remains untitled, but is in active development with Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes writer, Michael Lesslie, currently writing the script. All of this seems to be in keeping with The Wall Street Journal's recent reports about Feige's 10-year plan for the mutants he shared with colleagues.This week DC treated us to the first official trailer for the sophomore season of HBO's Peacemaker, alongside the announcement that it will premiere August 21. The trailer is jam-packed with gags and characters old and new, with a notable handful of characters from James Gunn's upcoming Superman, like Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord and Isabella Merced's Hawkgirl, appearing. Elsewhere, Despite wide traveling rumors, James Gunn affirmed that Matt Reeves is still set to direct The Batman 2 with his Threads response “Yes. Huh?” indicating his confusion at the suggestion of anything otherwise.  Gunn also teased a new trailer for Superman to hit the internet on Wednesday, conveniently the day after we recorded this episode.It's a tangled web we weave in terms of Spidey news this week, as Amazon's Spider-Man Noir series released a first image of Nic Cage in the title role, followed by what appeared to be an official trailer that was subsequently removed and scrubbed from the internet. On the film side, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has added The Bear star, Liza Colón-Zayas in an undisclosed role.Per a Jeff “The Insneider” Sneider scoop/rumor, the upcoming Vision series starring Paul Bettany will be the last Marvel TV series to feature major characters from the films.During Disney's Up Front presentation, Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter confirmed that she will be returning to the role in the MCU in the second season of Daredevil Born Again.Warner Bros has slated the next Lord of the Rings film, subtitled The Hunt for Gollum, for a December 17, 2027 release. The film, which sees Andy Serkis returning to not only star, but also direct, was announced last summer for a 2026 release originally before being delayed by a year.Author Tess Sharpe will be releasing a young adult novel focusing on Yelena Belova titled White Widow: Secret Sisters. The novel will be released on September 2nd.Warner Bros. and Legendary announced last week that Godzilla x Kong: Supernova is the new title for the forthcoming movie that is set for theatrical release March 26, 2027. In a second victory for Warner Brothers, A Minecraft Movie zoomed past $900 million in global ticket sales and is on track to become the first billion-dollar movie of 2025.Peacock has released a first look image and an official title for the upcoming The Office spin-off series. The series, titled The Paper, will follow a struggling newspaper based out of Toledo, Ohio and is now set to premiere in September.Michael B. Jordan will produce a series set in the Creed universe for Amazon Prime Video. The series, titled Delphi, will take place at the titular boxing gym and focus on the young athletes who populate the ring.Amazon Prime Video has renewed video game adaptation series Fallout for a third season ahead of its season 2 premiere this December.

Hello Legends! Yes, we can use that title this week.  Thanks to Lex Luthor, part of our League gets transported to a different reality. One where John Stewart's childhood comic book heroes are real. The Justice Guild of America are a version of the Justice Society. The JGA and the League start fighting but end up as allies.  They team up to fight the schemes of the Injustice Guild. But they cannot catch a break the villains get away and Flash and Black Siren are captured.  Things are not what they seem. John is getting visions of a post-apocalyptic world. They keep seeing the same citizens. Then Hawkgirl finds the graves of the JGA members. Green Lantern is  unwilling to believe it at first. They quickly find that the world is a facade. The junior Guild member, Ray, is not actually a boy. He is a mutated telepath.  The world was the victim of a nuclear war. The Guild died in battle. But Ray recreated a golden age world with his childhood heroes. They fight a never-ending battle for Ray's amusement. After Green Lantern and Hawkgirl confront him he begins to attack the Guild and the League. The Guild give their lives to overpower Ray and the illusion is broken.  The real people promise to rebuild. Take me back to Paradise City er Island, where the grass is green and the women have style and are strong.  It seems Diana is not the only Amazonian who has left Themyscira. Aresia has come to man's world not on a mission of peace, but a mission of death. Aresia has gathered the Injustice Gang (Star Sapphire, Tsukuri, Grundy, The Shade, and Copperhead) and is using them to collect technology, gems, and more from Gotham City.  But when the men start to question her plan, she gasses them. She is making an antigen that infects and kills only men.  As a child, she escaped a war-torn country only to have her ship destroyed by pirates. She washed up on Themyscira. The Amazons raised her as one of their own and even used magic to give her Amazonian strength and powers. But she took the Amazonian feelings about men and her history to build hate towards all men. The men of the Justice League are taken down by the antigen. This leaves only Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl to take down Aresia, Sapphire, and Tsukuri. With Hippolyta's help, they damage the plane carrying the antigen bombs. Aresia seemingly goes down with the plane. Mongul is the leader of this world, and he could use a Earth history lesson. Because he is using the War World fights to distract his people from their lack of food, medical care, and power needs.  His champion, Draaga, is defeating all the other contestants.  Superman and Manhunter try to escape but the shield keeps Clark in.  Superman is forced to fight Draaga and wins. He spares Draaga's life. J'onn gets the crowd involved to save Superman. Draaga is exiled off world but vows revenge. Superman is told that if he does not lose his fight with Mongul, Draaga's world will be destroyed. Green Lantern and Hawkgirl track the slavers ship until its trail is lost.  They force an alien to take them to War World, but while arguing, they are gassed and dumped.  They meet up with Draaga and get to War World. In the end Manhunter, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl take out Mongul's weapon. Draaga learns about Mongul's treachery from Superman. The Justice League has journeyed across space to help John Stewart in an intergalactic trial, and we're following along! The Manhunters, robotic lifeforms who were the precursors to the Green Lantern Corps, have come to Earth seeking out John Stewart. The League tries to stop them before John turns himself in.  He is then taken to an alien planet for judgement as he is accused of destroying a planet while doing his duty as a Lantern. Unfortunately he admits to his guilt of the crime. The League does not believe it.  Flash risks the death sentence to defend him. Superman & J'onn head to the destroyed planet's moon to seek out answers. Hawkgirl confronts the other Lanterns for their lack of support. It turns out the Manhunters are out for revenge against The Lanterns for taking their jobs and the Guardians for abandoning them. They orchestrated the situation to cause mistrust and dissention. Thanks to the League, John is acquitted. They must rush to OA to stop the attack by the Manhunters. A Manhunter takes the main Lantern Battery power. Thankfully John is able to save the day with his oath. Hello Leaguers! We have begun our journey with Justice League the animated series and we are so excited. It is a great time for Flash and xforce11 to rewatch it and it is Harely's first watch. Secret Origins does not give us secret origins of our heroes, at least not all of them. We have heroes all over the globe, but they very much stay in their own lanes. The alien invasion has caused trouble. But J'onn J'onzz the Martin Manhunter reaches out and with Superman's help draws the heroes together. The aliens are shapeshifters and are crippling earth's defenses and early warning devices. They are formable foes. Our team comes together and then pair off to try to take down the alien's ships. It looks like Batman is dead. Superman and Hawkgirl are captured. Then the rest of the team is captured. The big boss comes down to finish them off, but Batman suddenly reappears to save the day with the help of J'onn who has cloaked him. In the end, Batman through, Wayne Enterprises, creates The Watchtower out in space.  A place for them to come together and to watch out for threats from space and on the earth. Long before the Avengers released in theaters and Zack Snyder produced something several notches lower than absolute cinema (twice!), the DC-flavored Earth's mightiest heroes made their animated debut in Bruce Timm's Justice League, allowing kids across the world to learn about Superman and Batman's friends like Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter! And also Hawkgirl is there. This show is close to many of our childhoods, and we appreciate that this show still holds a lot of that Saturday morning cartoon magic while still providing some killer arcs that are so integral to DC Universe media today.
