Why are so many new fathers struggling in silence — and why is no one talking about it?In this eye-opening episode of Gent's Talk (E#161), supported by Dove Men+Care, host Samir Mourani and Dr. Andrew Howlett dive into the hidden reality of postpartum depression in men — an issue rarely acknowledged but widely experienced. From sleep deprivation and emotional burnout to identity loss and overwhelming pressure, this conversation pulls back the curtain on the quiet crisis many dads face after the birth of a child. With raw honesty and lived experience, this episode explores the unspoken weight of modern fatherhood — and what it takes to survive it. If you've ever felt like you're supposed to “just handle it,” this conversation might be the validation you didn't know you needed.
Let's Chat! What happens when a podcaster goes from creating individual episodes to crafting immersive narrative series? Anthony pulls back the curtain on the four-year evolution of Gent's Journey, revealing the deeply personal stories behind his twelve distinct podcast series.Starting with his "Foundational Five" concept and moving through his transition to story-driven content, Anthony shares how each series emerged from specific life experiences. The Death of You series was born during a period of profound loss, examining how one version of yourself must die for growth to occur. Mental Supremacy was inspired by characters like James Spader in The Blacklist, exploring what creates that rare calm confidence that shifts the energy of a room. The Rebirth of Cool—named after a jazz album found in a thrift store—redefines coolness as self-sufficiency rather than external validation.Anthony reveals the healing power of creating characters who process trauma similar to his own. "One of the greatest things about writing is I get to heal myself because I'm healing the character," he explains, particularly regarding Remembrance, which helped him process grief around his mother's cancer. From noir-inspired The Forgotten Samurai to the adventure-driven Relic Hunter, each series evolved his storytelling while maintaining powerful developmental lessons. For listeners discovering Gent's Journey for the first time, Anthony recommends beginning with the trilogy of Death of You, Mental Supremacy, and Unseen Laws of Power—"Those three right there will absolutely change your life." Looking ahead, he shares plans for expanded 20-episode series and themed content around holidays, continuing to push his unique blend of personal development and narrative storytelling.Connect with Anthony through the chat link in the episode description, by email at anthony@gentsjourney.com, or on Instagram @my_gents_journey to share your thoughts on these series or request topics for future episodes."True mastery is found in the details. The way you handle the little things defines the way you handle everything."
Join us this Tuesday night at 8pm CST as All the Right Movies will cover North Dallas Forty starring Omaha's own Nick Nolte as well as Mac Davis. The movie was based on the Peter Gent tell-all book of the same name and is not only hilarious, but manages to also capture the immense pain players go through and how through all the garbage they still love the game. It's not much of a secret the two main characters were based on Gent and Don Meredith in their Cowboys days - the only thing those uniforms are missing is the star on the helmet. You will also recognize John Matuzak and you can bet he wasn't acting too much with his rage-fueled monologue to the coaches near the end. Don't let the 1979 release date stop you - yes, the scenes, especially of the two games, weren't exactly shot in NFL facilities. But the performances, especially Nolte's, ring true and deliver plenty of laughs. Need one last selling point? The NFL and the Cowboys wanted NOTHING to do with this film. North Dallas Forty - see you there. NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS

TALK TO ME, TEXT ITWhat happens when trust is broken in a relationship? Today we explore the complex boundaries we set and the red flags we sometimes ignore when dealing with those closest to us.The show kicks off with a look at concerning news stories - from a Canadian police official suggesting traditional values might indicate extremism to the DOJ investigating doctors performing transgender procedures on minors. But the heart of our conversation revolves around three jaw-dropping relationship scenarios straight from Dear Abby's mailbag.First, we meet a woman whose husband of 32 years has been secretly inviting a young female bartender to their home - planning their meetups specifically when his wife would be out of town. The secrecy and text messages between them leave little doubt about inappropriate boundaries being crossed, despite Dear Abby's lukewarm advice about "marriage counseling."Next comes a husband who gave his bankrupt ex-wife a "huge amount of money" without consulting his current wife - then when confronted, offered three choices: be happy about it, accept an equal amount of money for herself, or get a divorce. This ultimatum-style approach to marriage raises serious questions about partnership and financial boundaries.Perhaps most troubling is the oil rig worker who abandoned his wife immediately after her spinal surgery to hang out with friends, despite doctor's orders to monitor her for complications. His dismissive "I can't spend time with my friends?" response when she called in pain speaks volumes about his priorities. These stories prompted our question of the day: What red flags do you notice when meeting someone new that make you reconsider engaging with them? For me, it's inability to maintain eye contact during conversation - what's yours?Share your thoughts on relationship red flags and join me and The Gent this Sunday for Brood Awakening and Sunday Scuttlebutt at 2pm Central!Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREE Thanks for listening!
