As the episode title suggests Episode 78 is The Very Special ‘Jason finally got Covid 19' Special episode of the TM pod. A solo thang recorded straight from my sick bed, in it I share some body sounds and assorted horror, tales of the virus, live music reviews, thoughts on my own musical journey and our entertainment saturated culture and some of my current flix pix from the streaming services. I also celebrate the lives and music of Tina Turner and Elliot Smith. Heretofore and furthermore I share an account of an algorithmic journey I took on YouTube that went from researching my Covid related ear-clicking condition middle ear myoclonus to exploring the culture and music of Newfoundland where I encountered the music of NF folk revivalists The Dardanelles and the much celebrated keeper of the flame of NF folk music the late Rufus Guinchard. All this by way of via Brian Johnson of AC/DC. It's a hell of ride and we live, love, laugh and (almost) cry along the way. So mask up and strap in for the ride. Thank you SO MUCH for listening and for supporting the pod. If you don't currently but would like to: PATREON If you can't contribute but you like what I do PLEASE TELL A FRIEND about the pod. Much love and gratitude to you all, each and everyone. LINKS: Rufus Guinchard His music The Dardanelles Saloli Deja Bleu You can just look up 'middle ear myoclonus' if you want to go deeper into my ear situation. Music: Plain Wrap ‘Red Light' The Dardanelles: (doing a tune from a live performance on Youtube, no title was given) Rufus Guinchard: (also doing an unnamed tune from a short CBC news documentary from the early 80's on YouTube) TM pod theme REMIX by Jason --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jason-traeger/support

It's the moment you've all been waiting for... this week, Brendan and Jason FINALLY get to talk about Carry On Up the Khyber, the 16th in a series of 31 farcical comedies with a mostly-recurring cast. As per usual, the guys ask all the tough questions such as: is there a single person of colour in this film? Did this movie and others in the series inspire filmmakers like David Zucker? Is there a clear political message buried in all the silliness and decidedly politically incorrect humour? Does this have the most British ending to any movie covered on the podcast thus far!? This and more in this week's brand-new humdinger of an episode! The guys also draw next week's movie out of a hat! What will it be? Join us, won't you? Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Closing up And Now for Something Completely Similar is the sequel to the Danny Boyle classic - T2 Trainspotting. Have Brendan and Jason FINALLY found a remake/sequel that comes close to living up to the original? How successful is the film at suddenly giving the psychotic Begbie some nuance and sympathy without it feeling hokey? Who is the newest and smartest character in the franchise? How honest is Renton as the narrator? Finally - does the shooting/editing style change and does it mature alongside the characters themselves? Plus: They're down to the final ten films on the BFI Top 100! The guys go back to the list and draw next week's movie out of a hat! What will it be? Join us, won't you? Questions? Comments? Ben and Jason had the opportunity to sit down and chat, just like the first episodes of Threads. Ben didn't want to follow a format for their conversation, but Jason couldn't handle recording without an outline. So Ben put a loosey goosey outline together to guide them. Even with an outline, hilarity and randomness ensued. Listen as Jason tells all about why he was jealous of Ben, and Ben spills the beans on how long it has been since he's seen the dentist. Jason thinks Ben likes getting "atta boys" and pats on the back from his posts on social media and in messaging apps. Ben isn't sure he agrees with that. This episode, though slightly unstructured, certainly brought us into the deep end. By the time we pressed "Stop" to end the recording, we both felt encouraged and validated after having another honest conversation. Thank you so much for listening to us! This week Jason finally gets to talk to us all about the dangers of eating bread as Sam walks us through 10 days in 1951 when a small village in Southern France lost its collective mind. Join us as we explore tales of people shifting into monsters, grown men believing they were dragonflies, and dogs attacking the invisible. The entire town of Pont-Saint-Esprit found itself beset by visions of serpents and devils, fire and death, hell itself, and when it did, it may or may not have provided valuable information to a certain government agency that is probably listening to us all right now. We hope you'll enjoy.
