Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) is a tomboyish FBI agent who is tasked with having to infiltrate the Miss United States beauty pageant as a contestant (Miss New Jersey) in order to prevent the threat of a bomb attack from a mysterious terrorist.....and HILARITY ensues! :) Actually in this case it did as twenty-five years ago, this became a surprise comedy blockbuster and pretty much cemented the since-then Oscar-winning Sandra Bullock as one of our most popular movie starts in the decades since. And she doesn't do it alone either: the stacked cast includes Benjamin Bratt, Michael Caine, Candace Bergen, and William Shatner. Directed by Donald Petrie (How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, Mystic Pizza, Grumpy Old Men), let's return back to a simpler time when swimsuit competitions were actually something folks watched on TV and....bikini wax jokes were still funny. ;) Host: Geoff GershonEdited By Ella GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon Send us a textSupport the showhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
What's up YFT fam, how's your Thanksgiving prep going? As turkey-time approaches, here's another food question for ya: how many YFT'ers casually eat anchovies for breakfast?? If you mash them with garlic and butter on toast, you and Wells are living in the same beautiful world. Brandi, however, has serious issues with this. Internet poll coming soon.Meanwhile, Brandi tuned in to Sweet Empire and confirms the “Holiday Wells” look is officially an elite winter aesthetic. We're sensing a trend incoming… In other news, sheep are apparently saving solar farms in China (finally, the crossover we never knew we needed), and Wells stopped by the DWTS 20th anniversary show to crank up the wattage a little bit. Is it Dylan, Robert, or Whitney who leaves with the crown?? Time — and votes — will tell. With fave things this week including All Her Fault, Frankenstein, and Death By Lightning, this episode's just a cozy pre-holiday hang. Enjoy, fam — we love ya!Thanks to our awesome sponsors for supporting this episode! In their third session, Zach shifts focus from reparenting the self to rebuilding trust, compassion, and connection in real time. The couple begins by reflecting on the chaos of parenting two neurodivergent children and how exhaustion, overwhelm, and constant caregiving have reshaped their marriage. The wife shares that while parenting has deep purpose and spiritual meaning, it also leaves her feeling “brought to her knees.” The husband expresses gratitude for their new home in Lisbon and admiration for her recent self-care efforts—but his words about “having more respect” land in a complicated way. What unfolds next is a layered conversation about respect versus compassion—how differently each experiences and defines those words, and how love can be both abundant and still “not land.” The wife reveals her fear that her “bucket has a hole”—that trauma keeps love from staying inside. The husband wrestles with the feeling of being both compassionate and exhausted. Zach guides them toward clarity: that differences in meaning, experience, and emotional wiring don't mean disconnection—they're invitations to co-create a shared vocabulary of care. By the end, the trio lands on a metaphor for healing: building an inner “city with a well and garden”. A healthy place inside the self where gratitude, curiosity, and compassion can grow. From there, they imagine a next step; ten intentional days of small, mutual choices to create a shared sense of safety and hope. Key Takeaways Parenting exposes purpose and pressure – Raising neurodivergent kids has deepened their sense of mission but also stretched their capacity for joy. Respect and compassion can get tangled – The husband's expression of regained respect triggers the wife's old shame wounds, revealing how love languages can misfire even when intentions are good. Compassion must land – It's not about whether compassion exists, but whether it's experienced and felt. Trauma leaves “holes in the bucket” – The wife describes how past pain can make love hard to hold, even when it's generously offered. Shame cycles need space – Zach helps her imagine creating a small pause between shame and reaction—a mindful sliver that grows with practice. Safety over sameness – Each partner's version of health looks different, but the shared goal is to meet in a “healthy place,” not to drag the other toward one definition. Gratitude and agency go together – The husband learns that his peace can't depend on her choices; it must come from cultivating gratitude within himself. Ten-day goals – They agree to take small, concrete steps—ten days at a time—to make life together a little “more good” and a little “less bad.” Learn more about your ad choices. Right off the bat, Wells goes into a full-blown rant about the current state of our world… Spoiler: it's in shambles. The government can't keep their sh*t together, and churches won't help a fake starving baby get formula. What TF is happening here? The shutdown leaves Wells with some BIG questions: Why are TSA agents government employees? And, what will happen if flights stop before Thanksgiving? “God forbid it's Pop-Pop's last Thanksgiving.” Meanwhile, Brandi's confirmed that the holiday shoppers are out in full force, and finding a formal outfit for an insanely tall man (AKA Matt) is basically impossible. To add to their long list of current complaints, DWTS really dropped the ball with their celebrity judge pick (justice for Alix Earle), and J-Lo wasted Wells' time with her sci-fi flop, Atlas. On the bright side, Wells introduces us to baseball's most chaotic legend, Rube Waddell, Miley snagged a Grammy nomination, and Dirty Grandpa turns British for Wells' new show Sweet Empire—a show you don't want to miss. And even when the world's falling apart, Wells still pulls through for y'all with some new soundboard jingles. Only the best for our YFTers. Thanks to our awesome sponsors for supporting this episode! Welcome to November, YFT'ers — where the clocks are confusing, daylight gets banked, and the months make no sense. Why is October the 10th month when “octa” means eight?? Somebody call the damn Romans. Brandi's had quite the week at the animal farm — horses fighting over toys and Happy the dog taking a very unhappy (and almost $5K!) trip to the emergency vet.Meanwhile, Wells and Sarah's Halloween couples costume was long-distance perfection, the Louvre heist keeps giving us Hollywood-worthy updates, and Wells has serious questions about blood color. Blue or red — what side are you on? In the fave things round-up, Brandi's got thoughts: House of Dynamite? “Hated it.” Weapons? “Spooky and good.” Plus some top picks like The Last Frontier, Welcome to Derry, and The Lowdown. In this episode of the Prayer Podcast, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe explores the profound wisdom behind Kaddish, a central prayer recited in the morning service after the korbanot (offerings) section. He outlines its five types, origins, and spiritual significance, emphasizing its role in sanctifying Hashem's name and bridging spiritual worlds. Recorded around October 2025 (post-Sukkot, aligned with Parshas Noach), the lecture connects Kaddish to daily prayers, mourning, and Torah study, highlighting its Aramaic composition and Talmudic stories.Five Types of Kaddish: Rabbi Wolbe details the variations using a handout (available via Google Drive link): (1) Chatzi Kaddish (half Kaddish)—a punctuation between prayer sections; (2) Full Kaddish (Kaddish Shalem)—post-Amidah, requesting peace; (3) Mourner's Kaddish—elevates the deceased by proclaiming Hashem's oneness; (4) Rabbi's Kaddish (Kaddish de Rabbanan)—after rabbinic study, blessing scholars (includes Siyum Kaddish for completing a tractate); (5) Burial Kaddish—graveside, unique in mentioning resurrection. Kaddish means “holy” or “sanctified,” declaring belief in Hashem's oneness and providence (Ezekiel 38:23: “V'hitgadilti v'hitkadishti”), making Hashem known globally (0:21–4:06).Purpose and Transition Role: Kaddish sanctifies Hashem's name publicly, not just for the deceased but as a moment of truth prompting reflection on life's fleeting nature. It bridges the four spiritual worlds in prayer (e.g., after offerings, before Pesukei D'Zimra), and between life and death in mourning. Recited seven times daily (three morning—Shacharis, two afternoon—Mincha, two evening—Ma'ariv, per Psalms 119:164), it evokes divine mercy and counters evil forces (klipot, per Zohar) (4:06–6:15, 20:05–21:56).Aramaic Language: Three reasons: (1) Angels don't understand Aramaic, allowing uninterrupted elevation and removal of spiritual barriers; (2) Post-First Temple sages composed it in Aramaic for accessibility during exile as it was the common language; (3) Zohar teaches reciting in a secular language elevates it, as all languages (post-Babel, Genesis 11) should glorify Hashem, countering division (7:40–14:49).Talmudic Story (Berachos 3a): Rabbi Yossi enters Jerusalem's ruins to pray; Elijah teaches: avoid ruins for danger, pray on roads, use short prayers while traveling. Elijah reveals a heavenly voice lamenting the Temple's destruction, renewed thrice daily, but softened when Jews recite Amen Yehei Shemei Rabba in Kaddish, evoking Hashem's sorrow for exiling His children. This highlights Kaddish's power to evoke divine mercy and elevate prayers (7:40–13:24).Spiritual Power: The phrase Yehei Shemei Rabba is to be recited with all our strength (28 letters, koach—strength) as it forgives sins, including idolatry, when said with full intent (e.g., screaming or focused concentration). During the Ten Days of Repentance, an extra word adjusts to maintain 28 letters (mi kol). Kaddish is a davar shebekedusha (holy matter), requiring a minyan (10 adults, per Abraham's Sodom negotiation (Genesis 18), as Hashem dwells with 10. Instituted by the Men of the Great Assembly post-Temple, it sources Ezekiel (38:23) for restoring Hashem's name. It's recited at Siyum or Torah study to sanctify Hashem publicly, not just personally (13:24–23:48).Customs and Variations: Stand during Kaddish in Ashkenaz (honoring sanctification); sit in Sephardic. Follow the congregation to avoid standing out. Rabbi Wolbe previews Pesukei D'Zimra and notes Kaddish's shofar-like power to break barriers before Rosh Hashanah (post-October 8, 2025) (28:01–29:15)._____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Dr. Leonard & June GoldbergDownload the Prayer Podcast Worksheets:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1iBVevW1ydyjSeyeO0iCcina7e8vix3Lt?usp=sharingThis episode (Ep. #40) of the Prayer Podcast by Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe of TORCH is dedicated to my dearest friends, Dr. Leonard & June Goldberg! Kristina Amelong Talks About What My Brother Knew Our guest today is Kristina Amelong, who tells an amazing story! Kristina had a younger brother named Jay, who began to say calmly when he was very young that he was going to die young, he would die on his bike, and he even predicted the color of the car that would kill him. And, sure enough, when Jay was thirteen and Kristina was seventeen, it all happened one day exactly as he had predicted it. And Kristina was plunged into a psychological mess for decades! As you can imagine. Her new book, just out, is called What My Brother Knew. And it is an emotionally gripping, eventually spiritually triumphant memoir of Kristina's life, her discoveries, and where she is now. Kristina Amelong tells us that she had a working-class childhood in Madison, Wisconsin, that was filled with abuse, addiction, and loss, but she has managed to overcome addiction and chronic illness, raise four children, and even found a successful holistic health business called Optimal Health Network. She has developed natural protocols which have helped thousands of people to heal from a wide range of digestive and other chronic issues. Her first book, before her new memoir, was “Ten Days to Optimal Health: A Guide to Nutritional Therapy and Colon Cleansing.” Kristina is now a senior board member for the Center for World Philosophy and Religion, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to a reweaving of the human story that she tells us will help to guide humanity through the current evolutionary crisis. She adds that she has a passion for photography, gardening, backyard chicken-raising, and pickleball. Her website is www.kristinaamelong.com Learn more about Roberta here: http://robertagrimes.com https://seekreality.com

Things are getting wooshy this week — maybe it's Brandi's post-blood-draw haze or Wells' weed drink enlightenment — but either way, YFT is straight-up floatin y'all. Exhibit A: Wells clocked a full nine hours and seventeen minutes of sleep with a resting heart rate low enough to qualify him for a Mayo Clinic newsletter (he swears he's fine). From there, your hosts spin into why billionaires only ever seem to climb Everest or start space programs, why Mallworld might be the greatest shared fever dream of our generation, and why today's kids simply need to go out and party more.Fave things this week include medieval dragons, true hauntings, dancing stars and missing cons, plus some wildly passionate listener voicemails to round it all out. Yom Kippur, “The Day of Atonement” is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. It brings to a conclusion a 10 day period of self-examination and reflection. Because Yom Kippur is a day of judgment during these 10 days, individuals seek to make restitution for their misdeeds and repentance of their sins.Rosh Hashanah begins on the 1st day of the Jewish month of Tishrei, while Yom Kippur occurs on the 10th day of the same month. The ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are called “Yomim Noraim” (“Ten Awesome Days”), or “Aseret Yemei Teshuva” (“Ten Days of Repentance”). According to Jewish tradition, during these “Ten Days,” God has opened before Him three books. The Book of the Righteous, in which all the names of the righteous are written; on Yom Kippur, all will have their names inscribed in the Book of Life for a good year; The Book of the Wicked, in which all the names of the wicked are written, and on Yom Kippur will be consigned for a bad year; The Book of the Average, in which the names of those not wholly righteous nor wholly wicked are written. During these “Ten Days,” those whose names are written in the Book of the Average have the opportunity to have their names written in the Book of Life on Yom Kippur, provided they perform the necessary “good deeds.” Thus, the common greeting during this season is, “L'Shana Tova Tikatevu,” “May You be Inscribed for a Good Year.”What the Law of Moses teaches about Yom Kippur is very different. There are three major passages that speak of Yom Kippur: Leviticus 23:26-32, Numbers 29:7-11, and the most important portion of Scripture on Yom Kippur, Leviticus 16:1-34. Much more could be said about Yom Kippur, but the following is clearly taught:1. There aren't many paths to God. There is only one way, and that way is by a blood atonement. During the period of the Mosaic Law, it was by means of the Yom Kippur sacrifice. Today, it is through the blood of Messiah Yeshua.2. Leviticus 17:11, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement because of life.”3. There is a need for a mediator between God and the people. Under the Mosaic Law, that mediator was the High Priest. Today, our mediator is Messiah Yeshua.4. The offering of sacrifices indicates there is the necessity for a substitute. Today, our substitution atoning sacrifice is provided by Messiah Yeshua. This is precisely what Isaiah the prophet taught in Isaiah chapter 53; “We all like sheep have gone astray, but the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6).YouTube: https://youtube.com/live/LYwA877ZGIUSend us a text
This week, Brandi ain't got time for hair washing while Wells is a newly minted train guy, and somehow ex–NFL QBs are getting stabby with delivery drivers. Was the food that late??? Only the courts will know for sure. From there, it's a full ride: Wells waxes poetic about scenic train trips (why can't we have nice things??), Brandi shares what it was like sharing a stage with DJ Diesel a.k.a. Shaq, and the two unpack the internet's collective meltdown over Taylor Swift's new record. Do people just…hate joy? Also discussed: why movies are so mean to orphans, WWE's surprisingly solid acting pipeline, and Wells' plans to join the bantamweight division of pro wrestling. In this thought-provoking episode, Jason unpacks the meaning, history, and personal relevance of these ten introspective days in the Jewish calendar. Concerning the Day of Atonement, Moses said, “Atonement will be made for you on this day to cleanse you, and you will be clean from all your sins before the Lord” (Lev 16:30). For the believer, this is gospel – good news! For the one who rejects this gracious offer, it will be a terrifying day to say the least! As with all the Holydays there is a past initiation with Moses and a past inaugural fulfillment with the first advent of Yeshua to our world nearly 2000 years ago. Paul informs us that there is a future final consummate fulfillment of the Holydays when Yeshua returns to our world the second and final time. Join us we will look at the themes of the Day of the Shofar, the Ten Days of Awe, the Day of Atonement and the Day of Judgement in their final fulfillment when Yeshua returns.

In this episode of the Parsha Review Podcast, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe discusses Parshas Ha'azinu (Deuteronomy 32), a prophetic song read on the Shabbos following Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur (September 20-21, 2025). He connects the parsha's themes to the spiritual preparation for Yom Kippur, emphasizing teshuvah (repentance) and the bedtime Shema as a daily practice to align with divine purpose. Key points include:Parshas Ha'azinu Context: The parsha, a song foretelling the Jewish people's future, includes a verse (Deuteronomy 32:20) about afflictions against enemies, which Rabbi Wolbe interprets spiritually as the Yetzer Hara (evil inclination). He cites the Talmud (Rabbi Yitzchak) that reciting the bedtime Shema protects against spiritual “demons” or negative impulses, linking this to the parsha's message.Yom Kippur Connection: Yom Kippur, beginning with Kol Nidre on September 20, 2025, is a time of purity and unlimited potential through teshuvah. Rabbi Wolbe highlights four designated times for repentance: the Ten Days of Repentance (culminating in Yom Kippur), Erev Rosh Chodesh (Yom Kippur Katan), Erev Shabbos, and before sleep (bedtime Shema). These moments mirror Yom Kippur's introspective judgment.Bedtime Shema's Power: The bedtime Shema, distinct from morning and evening Shema, is a “micro Yom Kippur” where one forgives others, confesses sins, and seeks divine mercy, as outlined in its prayer text. Covering the eyes during Shema symbolizes focusing spiritual vision over physical distractions, aligning with Yom Kippur's theme of self-accountability (chosem yad kol adam bo, “the signature of every person” in the book of life).Practical Application: Rabbi Wolbe proposes a resolution for the new year: recite the bedtime Shema nightly, reflecting for five seconds on daily actions to strengthen good deeds and correct misdeeds. This practice protects against negative influences, fosters teshuvah, and aligns one's life with Hashem's will (Shema Yisrael, declaring Hashem's oneness).Anecdotes and Insights: He shares a story of a recovering addict who transformed after seeing his potential in a mirror, paralleling the introspective power of the bedtime Shema. Rabbi Wolbe critiques modern distractions (e.g., smartphones) and the tendency to judge others, urging listeners to focus on self-improvement and forgiveness, especially for Yom Kippur._____________This episode (Ep 7.49) of the Parsha Review Podcast by Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe on Parshas Haazinu is dedicated in honor of our Holy Soldiers in the Battlefield and our Torah Scholars in the Study Halls who are fighting for the safety of our nation!Download & Print the Parsha Review Notes:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ncaRyoH5iJmGGoMZs9y82Hz2ofViVouv?usp=sharingRecorded at TORCH Meyerland in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on September 30, 2025, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on October 1, 2025_____________Subscribe: Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/parsha-review-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1651930083)Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/show/22lv1kXJob5ZNLaAl6CHTQ) to stay inspired! The 2 of Swords Ten Days Complete by
Changes To The Amidah During The Ten Days of Repentance by Rabbi Avi Harari
Would love to hear your feedback! Please share!
In this episode of the Parsha Review Podcast, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe discusses Parshas Vayelech, a concise 70-verse portion detailing the final day of Moshe's life, where he writes 13 Torah scrolls—one for each of the 12 tribes and one for the Ark—to guide the Jewish people as they enter the Promised Land. Rabbi Wolbe notes the Torah's unique status as a divine document, identical worldwide, unlike other religious texts with multiple versions, emphasizing its public revelation at Sinai, acknowledged by other faiths. He explains that the Torah, given as a manual for living in Israel, was completed just before entry to underscore its applicability there, with rabbinic observance mandated outside Israel to maintain readiness. Moshe's leadership transition to Joshua is highlighted as a model of responsible succession, ensuring stability. Rabbi Wolbe connects this to the Ten Days of Repentance, urging listeners to demonstrate change through actions like adopting stringencies (e.g., Pas Yisroel, eating only Jewish-baked bread), as beginnings set the foundation for future success, akin to laying pure foundations for a child's psychology or Noah's care for the lion. He emphasizes Hashem's promise (Deuteronomy 31:6) to never forsake the Jewish people, citing their resilience despite historical persecution and their unparalleled contributions to society, as evidenced by America's blessings for supporting Israel. Rabbi Wolbe encourages embracing the Torah's guidance, living with Shabbos' sanctity, and recognizing Hashem's protection, concluding with a call for a meaningful Shabbos and anticipation of the Third Temple. Addressing an audience clarification, he likens the Torah to a souvenir of Sinai's revelation, encapsulating 613 mitzvahs to reconnect with that divine moment._____________This episode (Ep 7.48) of the Parsha Review Podcast by Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe on Parshas Vayeilech is dedicated in honor of our Holy Soldiers in the Battlefield and our Torah Scholars in the Study Halls who are fighting for the safety of our nation!Download & Print the Parsha Review Notes:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ncaRyoH5iJmGGoMZs9y82Hz2ofViVouv?usp=sharingRecorded at TORCH Meyerland in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on September 26, 2025, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on September 26, 2025_____________Subscribe: Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/parsha-review-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1651930083)Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/show/22lv1kXJob5ZNLaAl6CHTQ) to stay inspired! We have just started the Ten Days of Awe, between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur, and with it there is certainly going to be discussion about the future resurrection of the dead. Messianic Apologetics editor John McKee discusses various expectations in the Tanach (OT) regarding death. This is then followed by a review of important stories and issues from the past day or so, largely witnessed on social media.
A prophetic word for the Head of the Year (5786): a partial solar eclipse on September 21 is a wake-up call — a sign in the sky pointing to repentance, restoration and the coronation of the King. In this message we unpack Genesis 1:26–28, Joel 2, Isaiah 55 and Haggai to show how God calls His people to “consider their ways,” prepare their houses, and return to the original design of prosperity and dominion. In this 15th episode of the Ask Away series on the Everyday Judaism Podcast, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe addresses two questions related to Jewish practices surrounding death and repentance. Responding to Marilyn Robinson's question about prayers at a loved one's gravesite, Rabbi Wolbe explains the custom of reciting Psalm 119, using the letters of the deceased's name (and sometimes their parents' names) to select verses, followed by Kaddish with a minyan for its protective power over the soul. He emphasizes that Kaddish acknowledges Hashem's mastery, helping cleanse the soul from worldly distractions during the temporary purgatory process, which is not eternal except for the truly wicked. Personal prayers or conversations at the gravesite are valid for healing, but one should not pray to the deceased, only asking them to intercede with Hashem. Addressing the second question about Selichot timing, Rabbi Wolbe notes that Sephardic Jews begin Selichot at the start of Elul, following Moshe's ascent for the second tablets, marked by daily shofar blowing to prevent sin, while Ashkenazic Jews start a week or four days before Rosh Hashanah, depending on the calendar. Both communities recite Selichot during the Ten Days of Repentance, aligning with the period of seeking forgiveness, which Hashem grants readily upon sincere request, unlike human grudges. Rabbi Wolbe encourages learning from Hashem's forgiving nature and invites further questions for future episodes. In this episode of Ask Away we address these questions and topics:Marilyn: What is a prayer you recite at a loved one's gravesite?Carlos: Why do some start Selichot one month before Rosh Hashanah and others 10 days or a week before? Please submit your questions at askaway@torchweb.org_____________The Everyday Judaism Podcast is dedicated to learning, understanding and appreciating the greatness of Jewish heritage and the Torah through the simplified, concise study of Halacha, Jewish Law, thereby enhancing our understanding of how Hashem wants us to live our daily lives in a Jewish way._____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Marshall & Doreen LernerDownload & Print the Everyday Judaism Halacha Notes:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RL-PideM42B_LFn6pbrk8MMU5-zqlLG5This episode (Ep. #60) of the Everyday Judaism Podcast by Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe of TORCH is dedicated to my dearest friends, Marshall & Doreen Lerner! Growing In God Podcast Program Number: GIG #267 Title: A Walk Through the Fall Feasts Web Description: We are coming to the biblical feasts of the fall season. And rather than seeing these feasts as disconnected events, see them as steps on a journey that begins with your receiving of the Word of God, continues with your atonement in Christ, and leads to your dwelling in His presence. Let these promises come to a completion and manifestation in your life. Show Notes: It is common to think of the biblical feasts as individual and separate events. But this podcast looks at the feasts of the fall season as a combined experience that is like a path we walk on. One feast leads to another in an unfolding walk with God. The first step on this journey is Yom T'ruah, the Day of Trumpets. Here we remember the time God appeared at Mount Sinai with the blast of a trumpet, which put all Israel into a state of awe. On the Day of Trumpets, we become aware that God Himself came down to the earth and will again when Christ returns. This awareness leads us into Ten Days of Repentance or the Days of Awe. This state of awe should be real to us. And we should recognize that as we walk with God, what He is doing in us and through us is to bring the nations into this same sense of awe, repentance, and worship of God. This state of repentance is to lead us into Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, which is about the removal of our sin. This opens the door to the experience of Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles. This is a remembrance of the time in the wilderness when the people lived in the presence of God. And we should reach into this experience. God removes our iniquity so we can live in His presence. Sukkot is celebrated for seven days, with an added eighth day, so that we can absorb all that God has done for us to change our lives. It leads us into His Word, into waiting on the Lord, and into appropriating all God's fullness. Key Verses: • Leviticus 23:23–25. “You shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.” • Hebrews 12:18–21. “You have not come to … the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words.” • Exodus 19:16–20. “The sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder.” • Psalm 22:23–26. “Stand in awe of Him, all you descendants of Israel.” • Psalm 22:27–28. “For the kingdom is the LORD's and He rules over the nations.” • Leviticus 23:26–32. “On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement.” • Read Leviticus 16. • Leviticus 23:33–36. “On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths.” • Leviticus 23:37–39. “Celebrate the feast of the LORD for seven days, with a rest on the first day and a rest on the eighth day.” • John 1:1–13. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” • 1 John 2:6. “The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.” Quotes: • “Something is going to happen as we walk through this beautiful landscape of the fall feasts.” • “We should look for God to meet us in such a dramatic way that it throws us into repentance. It brings us into an awe of God beyond anything we have ever known.” • “There's something about where we come out of this walk through the fall feasts together that brings us to the reality of Christ in our life. It brings us to embrace Him as the Word made flesh.” Takeaways: 1. At the trumpet blast on Mount Sinai, the people heard and saw the Word of God. And so these fall feasts take you on a journey that begins with your introduction into the Word of God. They bring you into an awe of Him. They bring you into atonement. And they bring you into the remembrance of living in His presence and seeing where He is taking you in the Kingdom of God as it manifests on the earth. 2. Christ walked the earth as the Word made flesh. That Word from the trumpet blast came alive before the eyes of men and women. And that is what is happening today. And it is happening in your heart. 3. Let us walk through this time of the fall feasts together and let it bring a fulfillment of His Word made alive in our flesh because we are to walk as He walked. And that is to be the Word of God manifested in this earth.
