Joe & Adam are diving back into the Danny Boyle cinematic well — this time with T2 Trainspotting (2017), the long-awaited sequel to the iconic Brit flick.   The whole gang is back - Spud, Sick Boy, Renton, and Begbie - and so is Boyle's stylish storytelling. Our hosts break down the film, debate Ewan McGregor's hit-or-miss filmography, and (for once) actually talk about the movie more than usual.   Plus, Joe's homegrown Kevin Bacon game makes a triumphant return, alongside the classic Box Office game and the all-important Picking Next Week's Film game.   Got a film you forgot you forgot? Hit us up at moviesyouforgotyouforgot@gmail.com with your thoughts, episode suggestions, or just some light praise. The best picks make it onto the sacred Communal List - and who knows, one day, fate (or our deeply flawed selection process) might smile upon yours.   You can also follow Adam on Letterboxd; he rates and reviews the films he watches. The comments section is a very cool place to be. Also, be a pal: tell your chums, rate us, review us, shout our name into the void - whatever helps spread the word.

That, and enormous cheques to writer/director James Cameron, and leading man Arnold Schwarzenegger. All well and good: but they didn't actually have a lot of time to make the actual film. The passing of time was one thing T2 Trainspotting had fewer worries about, arriving over 20 years following the original film. One of the key hold ups? A long-running falling out between director Danny Boyle and leading man Ewan McGregor...---Find Simon on Twitter at @simonbrew, and the podcast can be found at @filmstories Hosted on Acast. Now, we know Irvine Welsh for his enormously popular novels such as Trainspotting, The Acid House, Filth, Porn, Glue and Skagboys. His first work has since been adapted into the cult classic 1996 film Trainspotting, consistently ranked as one of the top 10 British films of all time and recently followed by its 2017 sequel T2 Trainspotting. Whether Irvine is switching between the punk and disco subcultures of 1980s London, releasing the most shoplifted novel in British publishing history, or learning the difference between Bay area and Appalachian meth, his writing journey has been anything but traditional. But before he transformed Scotland's literary scene, and before he got on and off heroin, Irvine was a little kid with a rebellious streak, moving from one tenement flat to another…

“So be addicted. Be addicted to something else.”Checking in 20 Years Later with Renton, Spud, Sick Boy, and BegbyThat's right, it's time to talk about Danny Boyle's legacy sequel T2 Trainspotting. It was a long time coming, and that's even after author Irvine Welsh wrote a 10-years-later sequel called “Porno” to his original novel “Trainspotting.” Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – as we wrap up our conversations about the Trainspotting series with a look at Boyle's 2017 film T2 Trainspotting. Here's a hint at what we talk about.First off, what's up with that dumb title? We chat about it a bit and the reasons they named it that, but it doesn't change our opinions that it doesn't work that well. We were a little concerned about a return to this world, but in the end, we felt it worked. That's largely because the people behind it were passionate about it and kept it honest and in line with where the first film ended. That doesn't mean we don't have issues with some of the character arcs. Could Begbie perhaps have learned something in prison and not come out 20 years later feeling like the same character? Could we have spent a bit more time dealing with Renton's health issues? Why did Kelly Macdonald have to be included in what feels just like a cameo? Still, the story largely works. We like the journeys the characters go on even with some of the issues. We're glad that Boyle and Ewan McGregor were able to work past their problems to find a way into this one. And it's great to see Boyle still finding ways to play with his production style, even if sometimes it doesn't quite feel as fresh as it did the first time around. All in all, it's a surprisingly good return to this world. Yes, we're finally chatting the sequel to Trainspotting (1996) for our 'Forward Flash' episode! We had such a blast talking this film, it's probably one of the only sequels that actually holds up to the original and is an utter delight. Me and Jai point out how the characters changed in 20 years and the many nods to the original. The soundtrack, understated fashion, and the update to 'choose life'.Off-topic rants include: slang, Tom Hanks, "method" acting, and Terminator 2---Get OVER 50 BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s documentaries, and more...) and to support the show, join the PATREON for $5 a month! www.patreon.com/fashiongrungeGIVE US A 5 STAR RATING & SUBSCRIBE!Hosts: Lauren @lauren_melanie & Jai @jai_stylefactory Music by Den-Mate @imdenmateFollow Fashion Grunge Podcast Instagram @fashiongrungepodTwitter @fgrungepodLetterboxd Fashion Grunge PodcastTikTok @fashiongrungepod
