それにしても、やりすぎじゃないですかね?(笑)You may or may not know this, but right now in Japan, Mrs. GREEN APPLE is absolutely everywhere. Not only are there endless collaboration products, but there are also collaboration foods, drinks, and even a collaboration Shinkansen train. And then there's Jujutsu Kaisen. No matter where we go, we seem to run into another JJK collaboration. We totally get why they're so popular, but... isn't it all getting a bit much? In this episode, we have one of our usual slightly sarcastic conversations about Japan's obsession with collaborations and whether some of these promotions have gone just a little too far.To all the Mrs. Green Apple fans and JJK fans out there—we apologize in advance if we offend you!But seriously... isn't it getting a little ridiculous? (lol)

After a celebrated run at international film festivals, the anime movie adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's All You Need is Kill is now available to buy digitally – and hopefully should land on streaming platforms soon. So how does this re-imagining of the light novel compare to the Hollywood adaptation – Edge of Tomorrow – and even its own manga adaptation? Honestly? It doesn't. But it's not because it's bad – it's a whole new take on the story. AF Freshie Awards Round 2 Every effort is made to keep spoilers to a minimum. (The only exception being older titles)
For this installment of Not A Bomb's “Ani-MAY-e” celebration, the hosts dive into Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the explosive prequel to the massively popular Jujutsu Kaisen. Centered on the tragic story of Yuta Okkotsu, the film introduces audiences to a world where cursed spirits, powerful sorcerers, and overwhelming grief collide in spectacular fashion. What begins as a supernatural tale about loss and isolation quickly transforms into a high-energy action epic filled with brutal battles, emotional revelations, and enough cursed energy to level entire city blocks. The hosts break down how the film functions both as an entry point for newcomers and as expanded lore for longtime fans of the series. Does this prequel do a good job at bringing in new fans, or is the parade of random new characters distracting? Troy and Brad discuss whether the film successfully balances world-building with emotional storytelling, or if the barrage of terminology, powers, and side characters risks overwhelming audiences unfamiliar with the anime. There's also plenty of appreciation for the film's jaw-dropping fight sequences, with the hosts praising the fluid animation, intense choreography, and massive scale of the action. From one-on-one duels to full-scale supernatural chaos, the conversation highlights how the film uses animation to create battles that feel fast, weighty, and emotionally charged all at once. The hosts also examine the relationship between Yuta and Rika, exploring how the film blends themes of love, trauma, guilt, and personal growth beneath all the explosive spectacle.Want to support the show? Check out the Not A Bomb TeePublic store for merch, featuring designs by Ted Blair. We'd love to hear from you—send your feedback, suggestions, or film recommendations to NotABombPod@gmail.com or through our contact page. On this episode of Black and Snerdy, Ode (@thatsod.e / @thatsod_e) and Mo "Kid" Licorish (@licorishislegit) examine the disturbing criminal case involving the artist David (D4VD) and the tragic death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. They detail how online platforms like Discord and Twitch created the environment for alleged grooming and discuss the broader implications of parasocial relationships in the digital age. The conversation shifts to the rise and fall of Eligio Bishop, also known as Nature Boy, as they recount the history of the Carbon Nation cult, its international expulsions, and the documented accounts of forced labor and manipulation found in "Hood Horrors" and Hulu documentaries. Along the way, they analyze a viral misinformation post about Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts and introduce a new segment where Ode attempts to recap the hit anime Jujutsu Kaisen for a very skeptical Mo.

Anime's dirty little secret just went mega-viral -- a first-year Japanese animator dropped his actual pay stub proving he scraped together a pathetic $4,520 for the entire year, averaging around $380 a month after grinding per-frame piecework that left him below poverty line in Tokyo. Yeah the same industry pumping out billion-dollar hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer is still treating rookies like disposable cogs while veterans warn "it gets better" after year one -- except most burn out before that because 60k yen monthly doesn't even cover rent and cup noodles. We review season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Part 1. MAPPA has evolved this anime into something cinematic and intense, even with curse powers that seem a little silly. But that's ok, we're here for it. We discuss movie references, Itadori on trial, Fushiguro's abs, and the return of Chef Yuta. Manga sales in Japan are slowly fading for the first time in eight years -- the whole domestic market just shrank 1.7% to ¥693 billion in 2025 after seven straight years of growth, with print volumes cratering 14.4% and magazines down 12.7% while digital barely eked out a pathetic 1.5% bump in the second half. Big hitters like My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Oshi no Ko wrapped up in 2024 so there weren't enough new juggernauts to prop things up. Meanwhile, manga stays winning in the US, dominating the industry and tanking western comics. Watch the podcast episodes on YouTube and all major podcast hosts including Spotify. Anime and animation studios are all using AI and lying about it, according to a director for Jujutsu Kaisen. They're lying because they don't want to deal with the backlash, but the technology is proving to be a huge timesaver. So there's a good chance nearly any animation you've consumed over the past year or two used AI to some extent. It's unavailable. Short month, long episode! First, Ben Lindbergh and Charles Holmes extoll the virtues of one of their favorite fantasy stories, the anime series ‘Frieren: Beyond Journey's End,' touching on its themes, influences, and characters, as well as why it makes a great gateway show for non-anime fans.
