Late Kick Live Ep. 290 includes Josh Pate taking a look at some of the latest fall camp buzz from across the nation. In the SEC we see UGA looking to develop depth at WR while being dealt another injury blow at the position. Alabama's biggest question is OL. How did the Tide look on the offensive front Saturday? What are we hearing regarding the Ole Miss and Auburn QB battles? Around the rest of the country, Clemson was dealt some potentially significant injury news Saturday as was Notre Dame the day before. How is the Texas QB battle shaping up after the first scrimmage for the Horns? We also take a look at the growing optimism around FSU. Recruiting has been red hot lately for both LSU and Florida. Hear Josh discuss how quickly Brian Kelly and Billy Napier have adjusted to SEC recruiting. James Franklin and Penn State have added another QB commitment as well. All that plus the debut of the JP Poll for the 2022 season, added best bets on the Ramen Noodle Express, and a dive into the Late Kick inbox. Penn State football held an open practice on Wednesday night before head coach James Franklin and several members of the team and staff spoke with the media afterward. Today on the BWI Daily Edition, host Thomas Frank Carr and senior editor Nate Bauer discuss what they saw and heard last night before opening the BWI Daily mailbag and answer questions from fans.  Bauer and T-Frank start by offering their impressions of practice and what Franklin said when speaking to media members after practice. Bauer points to the young players and their development so far. He comments on Franklin's assertion that the group collectively "hit a wall" in installation this week. T-Frank picks up on that thread and points to the Nittany Lion's Week one matchup with Purdue and how important it is for the team to be ready early in the season.  Meanwhile, T-Frank focused on the players returning from injury and how they are progressing in the second week of camp. He observed defensive linemen PJ Mustipher and Adisa Isaac going through drills and gives his feedback. Next, they discuss Bauer's conversation with Ji'Ayir Brown and how the senior safety discussed his fellow teammates in the secondary. Does he see each of them progressing in the necessary areas? And does Bauer believe that to be the case if he does?  After wrapping up with some final thoughts, the pair moves on to the mailbag portion of the show. The first question deals with Penn State's other freshman running back. How much are fans or media overlooking four-star freshman Kaytron Allen? Bauer rejects the notion that Blue White Illustrated has overlooked Allen but details what he's heard that indicates the question is correct in spirit.  They also take on the interior of the offensive line and the position battle between Hunter Nourzad and Sal Wormley. Who is the starter? Which players are trying to get snaps where? T-Frank pushes the conversation past Wormely and Nourzad to include center Juice Scruggs and left guard Landon Tengwall.  Bauer and T-Frank also discuss the intricacies of the new Big Ten media right deal from both a football and basketball perspective. Does college basketball in the Big Ten take a hit with the move away from ESPN? T-Frank wonders aloud how television stations that don't have four of five dedicated channels like ESPN will broadcast games. He speculates that streaming could be a future but Bauer points to the reality of the situation.  Next, they tackle the new deal from a football angle. What happens to the White Out now that Fox has the rights to marquee games? Fox's plan of playing big games at noon ruins the atmosphere of one of the iconic scenes in sports. Bauer has a strong opinion on the type of question asked, while T-Frank enjoys a moment speculating.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land's I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference's games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. We are a few weeks away from the 2022-2023 football season, so it is time to switch gears from talking season and dive in headfirst into real football content. What better way to start football season then ranking teams and picking games? In our season preview we rank the Big Ten into four tiers, the non-bowl tier, the low-bowl tier, the NY6 bowl tier and the contender's tier. We also predict records and finishes for all fourteen teams leading to 168 games picked. In this episode we discuss the three or four teams, depending on who you ask, that will make lower ranked bowl games. Jordan believes that Mike Locksley, an overall bad coach, will stumble into back-to-back bowl games on the shoulders of his talented quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa and his pass catchers Rakim Jarrett and Dontay Demus Jr. While Dante disagrees, they both agree that after a shocking 5-7 season the Fighting Illini will reach six wins and make it to a bowl game in the second year under Bret Bielema. There may be a ceiling to what Illinois can be in the Big Ten but behind Chase Brown and Josh McCray they will be a tough team to face. While Maryland and Illinois may be happy about being placed in this tier the same cannot be said for the next two teams. After winning the Big Ten West and facing Michigan in the championship game Iowa takes a step back. Their defense will be good as always but with some losses on offense and without a change on the offensive staff this team should lose more games than last year. Penn State makes the final team in this tier. Their ceiling will remain limited with Sean Clifford as their starting quarterback. They should have a renewed James Franklin but losing Jahan Dotson, Jaquan Brisker, and Brent Pry will be tough to deal with. This team should be better in the future but with a tough schedule will not contend for the Big Ten East crown. In their weekly pit stop Dante gives a shout out to the Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell new contract extension. Jordan expresses anger about the Deshaun Watson suspension and the overall process. Connect with us on Twitter: Jordan: @JordanW330 Dante: @DanteM10216 Learn more about your ad choices. Penn State football enters the second week of training camp for the 2022 season and insider Nate Bauer has an update on how things are going for the Nittany Lions. He and host Thomas Frank Carr discuss Penn State's top training camp battles, the linebacker depth chart, and players standing out in camp. To get full access to this insider information, join Blue White illustrated at bluewhiteillustrated.com.  For many Penn State fans, the middle linebacker competition is the featured event for fall camp. First, Bauer has an update about which player, between Kobe King and Tyler Elsdon, has a lead at this point. Next, T-Frank and Bauer discuss what James Franklin's comments about freshman linebacker Keon Wylie mean for fellow freshman Abdul Carter. They wrap up their discussion about the position with how positive Penn State feels about the position.  Next, they discuss Franklin's comments about cornerback Johnny Dixon. The lead man for the Lions said that Dixon was coming on strong and even pushing for starting reps. While that says one thing about Dixon, what does that say about the players ahead of him? Finally, T-Frank and Bauer discuss the nuances around Penn State's cornerback spot opposite Joey Porter Jr.  Next, they tackle the offensive line. Bauer spoke to offensive line coach Phil Trautwein about the competition between Sal Wormley and transfer Hunter Nourzad. Bauer got a straight answer about who is the starter and which player is the backup from Trautwein when he discussed the situation. First, however, Bauer chats with T-Frank about the underlying competition and how that might change over time.  Lastly, they round out the show by discussing players that are flashing positive plays during camp and which players are sticking out for their positive contributions. Penn State football is currently in the first week of training camp and will cap it off with media day on Saturday. To prepare you for what you will learn and what ot expect, reporter Greg Pickel joins host Thomas Frank Carr on the BWI DailY Edition to preview the event. The duo will go through the top five questions that Pickel wants to have answers for from head coach James Franklin, along with other news and notes we might learn on Saturday.  They start with the top five questions that Pickel would ask James Franklin if he could have a one-on-one interview instead of a press conference. Pickel begins his line of questions with the safety battle beside returning starter Tig Brown. Several names are vying for the opportunity to play the field safety position in Penn State's defense but will it be Keaton Ellis, Zakee Wheatley, or Jaylen Reed? Next, T-Frank throws a fourth mystery name into the competition and asks for Pickel's thoughts.  The next question on Pickel's mind centers around incoming transfer Chop Robinson at defensive end. Pickel's question sparks a conversation that T-Frank wants to have about the defensive end group. So he asks Pickel about not just Robinson but where he thinks that position will land during the 2022 season. Question three (in ascending order) that Pickel would ask Franklin deals with Penn State's top camp battle. How is the competition shaping up between Tyler Elsdon and Kobe King? The center of the defense won't be stabilized until one of those players takes command of the position, so finding out which player is ahead after the first week is essential.  The second question on Pickel's mind deals with the health of PJ Mustipher. The senior defensive tackle was present and participating during the opening portion of Penn State's practice on Monday, which is a good sign. But how much and what type of participation does Mustipher have during team periods? The senior defensive tackle's health will go a long way to determining the defensive line's success.  Finally, the top question that Pickel would ask Franklin deals with the opposing units in football. Is the offense ahead of the defense or vice versa? While this is a common question for the media to ask during camp, Pickel has a specific reason he wants to know this time of year.  They also discuss the offensive line situation and the training camp timeline. Finally, Pickel gives T-Frank an update on Penn State wrestling.  JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. Penn State's tight end room received high praise before the 2021 season. Head coach James Franklin called them the deepest and most talented group he's coached at that position in his career. Now, the same faces return in the same roles for the fall. Penn State head coach James Franklin and his offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich haven't backed off from their optimism this year, so what will change? Host Thomas Frank Carr and senior editor Nate Bauer will try to answer as they preview the tight end position for the 2022 football season.  They start with a review of last season and introduce the trio of Brenton Strange, Theo Johnson, and Tyler Warren. Next, they discuss the facts behind the tight end group's lack of production last season. Then, T-Frank cites some important receiving metrics they fell short in, and Nate gives context to them. They also discuss factors outside the position's control. For example, they dive into how the quarterback's willingness to throw the ball over the middle of the field and which receivers took important targets away from the group.  They discuss which X-factor will change the course of the season for Strange, Johnson, and Warren before looking at the young players. Penn State's appearance at the Big Ten media days got off to a rocky start this week after Jason Stahl, the founder of the College Football Player's Association reported his involvement with Penn State. At the center of the story is sixth-year quarterback Sean Clifford. According to Stahl, Clifford was the focal point of his efforts to unionize Penn State's football team and spearhead negotiations with the Big Ten. With Penn State players, coaches and administrators speaking on Wednesday, reporter Greg Pickel joins the BWI Daily to discuss the situation. Pickel, who is reporting from Indianapolis, discusses the situation with host of the BWI Daily, Thomas Frank Carr. They reviews the news today reported by Ross Dellinger that Clifford was pressured by multiple sources to back away from Stahl's efforts, which led to a public airing of the situation. T-Frank and Pickel walk through the different aspects of this situation. Firstly, how Clifford looks coming into his media appearance and the questions he's going to have to answer tomorrow in Indianapolis. What will he have to say about his side of the story? Pickel and T-Frank discuss. Secondly, what sort of effect will this have on the football team? T-Frank asks Pickel if he thinks these actions by Clifford and the team have damaged relationships with the coaching staff. From there they discuss how James Franklin and the athletic administration will handle the situation on Wednesday. Finally, they discuss the news from yesterday that three-star receiver Yazeed Haynes essentially decommitted from the program. While hasn't made any public announcements at the time of recording, he has removed Penn State from his social media and multiple recruiting analysts have put in a pick for Georgia to flip the 6-1 receiver. Does Penn State now have enough analysts to be on a field comparable with the top teams in the country? If so, does that change anything on game day or in-game planning? Bauer and T-Frank discuss the merits of the thought and what that means for head coach James Franklin and his top assistants, Mike Yurcich and Manny Diaz.  That conversation spins into a question about the Penn State offense in 2022. Can they get the rushing attack figured out? The viewer also wants to know how many yards Nick Singleton will rush for next fall. Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft sat down last week for an exclusive interview with Blue White Illustrated. Senior Editor Nate Bauer joins the show to discuss what they talked about and how he sees the first week under Kraft's leadership after that conversation. They'll also discuss the nuances of Penn State's athletic model, the future of NIL, a timeline for events at Penn State, and more.  Host Thomas Frank Carr starts with Bauer's overall impressions of Kraft during their conversation. Did Kraft match his demeanor in his opening press conference? What fascinating insight did he pick up from a follow-up conversation? From there, Bauer brings up his article at Blue White Illustrated about Kraft's commitment to keeping Penn State's full complement of sports and what needs to happen for that future to come true.  They'll also discuss how football fits into that picture and how Kraft can assist with the largest money-maker at Penn State while still having a broad athletic department.  They'll also broach NIL with a similar frame of reference. Considering where Penn State is from a facilities standpoint, how can they also compete at NIL? Will focusing on all sports take away from football's ability to compete? Also, can Penn State gain momentum if head coach James Franklin doesn't have to be the leader in this conversation?  They'll wrap up by discussing the future of athletics and if NIL has a long-term place in the conversation.  JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: http://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. Penn State recruiting kicks off June with their biggest camp weekend of the summer. The Whiteout Camp takes place Saturday, and recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins the BWI Daily Edition to tell you all about it. He and host Thomas Frank Carr go through the biggest names in attendance on Saturday and preview other important weekends this month. They also look at critical official visits, including this weekend's massively important Jason Moore visit. Snyder starts the show for those who don't follow recruiting closely by explaining what the Whiteout camp is, why teams do camps, and where they got their start. Then he lists off the critical players for the Class of 2023 that will attend on Saturday. Check out his article here for the complete list, including key names from 2024 and beyond. Next, he and T-Frank discuss the satellite camp the Penn State staff attended on Thursday. The BWI Daily edition was taped a day in advance to be sure to check the site for a recap of the events from Thursday. Snyder explains to T-Frank what satellite camps are and why teams attend them before previewing the camp in Detroit that head coach James Franklin spoke at yesterday. What was James Franklin's message to recruits at the Sound Mind Sound Body Ferris State Michigan Showcase? Next, T-Frank and Snyder discuss four-star defensive tackle Jason Moore's official visit, taking place this weekend. Snyder has called Moore one of the most important players in the Class of 2023 for Franklin. So, T-Frank asks him why. Why is Moore so crucial in a year with such depth at the defensive tackle position? Snyder explains that it's not just his position or talent that matters but something else. After further discussion about Moore and the defensive line group in 2023, T-Frank brings up a final topic that might be on the minds of Penn State football fans. The Class of 2023 started out with fanfare and promise. But after a few losses in the last month, including in-state players committing to other schools, should Penn State be worried about this class? T-Frank and Snyder discuss this topic from a big-picture perspective, where BWI's insider doesn't see a huge reason to worry. Next, they discuss it individually, where Snyder feels that NIL opportunities will cause Penn State to miss players they would typically get. That, along with the depth at defensive tackle, linebacker, and offensive line, should give Penn State fans hope. Either way, June and July will be a wild ride. #pennstate #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: http://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. Oregon Football has landed another recruit early in the 2023 recruiting cycle, this time it's a pass-catcher. 4-star wideout Jurrion Dickey announced his commitment to the Ducks on Monday over USC, UCLA, Washington, and Penn State. Dickey becomes the 3rd commit that Dan Lanning and his staff have obtained in next year's class so far. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin looks at big headlines from Oregon Football and Men's Basketball. Dickey is an intriguing prospect as a wideout, and it's a good sign that Oregon was able to get him over the likes of prominent offensive minds like Lincoln Riley, Chip Kelly, James Franklin, and Kalen DeBoer. He shows some traits that Oregon fans rarely see from their wide receivers particularly in the red zone--yet also has similarities to a past standout, Jordan Kent. Another domino has fallen for Dana Altman and Oregon Basketball, with center N'Faly Dante announcing that he will return for another season in Eugene for the 2022-23 campaign. A big presence inside who had his best season yet for the Ducks, he could be poised for another big leap in production next year on the hardwood. Spencer ends the show looking at Oregon's front court for next year with the big fellas now that Dante is returning and Franck Kepnang having left the program for Washington via the transfer portal.
