Joelle Castei is a writer, advocate, and self-proclaimed ‘accidental activist.' Her story is one of pain, resilience, and ultimately, triumph. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, Joelle's journey began in the place where she should have felt safest—her catholic high school in Southern California. But instead, she found herself in the clutches of predatory groomer and abuser. Joelle's narrative is heart-wrenchingly common among survivors, yet her courage to speak out is extraordinary. She takes us through the dark corridors of her past, from battling depression and a suicide attempt to the betrayal of those who should have protected her. Joelle's story, however, is not just about the abuse she suffered; it's about the systemic failure of the school officials at Mater Dei High School who turned a blind eye to the atrocities committed within their walls. This is a story about the incredible strength it takes to rebuild a life from the ashes of trauma. After hitting rock bottom, she made a choice—a choice to live, to fight, and to ensure that “the bad people don't win.” And fight she did. Joelle's activism led her to speak out against abuse, work with the media, testify in front of state legislatures, and even pen a book to help parents protect their children from predators. Her journey is a testament to the power of taking responsibility—not for the abuse, but for her healing and future. It's a message she now shares with survivors and parents alike, teaching them to arm themselves and their children against predators and to take control of their lives. Tune in to this powerful episode to witness the journey of an incredible woman who turned her pain into purpose. Joelle Castex's story is a beacon of hope for anyone who has faced adversity, a reminder that with courage and determination, we can overcome the darkest of times and emerge stronger and more determined to make the world a better place.     What they're saying:   “This is a beautiful book about life, its imperfections, its challenges, and its joys. It is a book of hope and wisdom for all of us facing a bump in the road.” –Pragito Dove   “Pat has woven together beautiful stories of life setbacks that have been transformed into spiritual growth. This book is a gift and a must-read for souls experiencing pain and yearning for growth.”   –Gary Hensel   Learn more at   Follow Bump on: ➡️  ➡️  ➡️  ➡️  ➡️

What does the word “responsibility” mean to you? The topic of responsibility is important if you want to win in sports or life but it is an underrated topic. Merriam-Websters Dictionary’s various definitions center on responsibility consisting of “having a duty,” “being accountable” and “making decisions without another’s authority.” Responsibility, however, has a lot to do with ownership. Hosts Kelly Palace and Maria Parker share their own experiences with taking responsibility for things that have happened in their lives and how they use the word “ownership” as a synonym for “responsibility.” Subscribe to the Champion's Mojo podcast on YouTube. Dr. Jeanette welcomes Joelle Casteix to discuss exposure and prevention of child sexual abuse.  Joelle is the author of The Well-Armored Child: A Parent's Guide to Preventing Sexual Abuse which brings this difficult topic out in the open without shame or guilt to create change.  We must have the hard discussion and hear what is occuring in our families.  We must start to talk to our kids and not fear what they are saying as to deny it is occuring is a form of child abuse in its own right.  Parents also who have had abuse in their lives in decades past does not give the parents the right to shield or shelter negative actions of family members or children based upon past history and beliefs.  Abuse is what it it, call it what it is.  Time for parents to deal with their abuse in the past and stop it now in the present if it is repeating or playing out in the lives of children.   Sexual Abuse Awareness Week- "Child Sexual Abuse is nothing new. It remains horrifically part of our "enlightened society."  Whenever children innocently and vunlerably need adult attention, opportunistic adults may "groom" children in their care to become unwilling, manipulated sexual partners.  Parents, remain alert especially when childcare or extra-curricular activities afford adult sexual predators access to lure clueless, trusting children into private locations," explains Dr. Carol Francis. James R Dunlap, author of Millstone, a thrilling, fast paced, important novel about child sexual abuse, is a parent himself riveted with the damage his son suffered at the hands of a Catholic priest.   During Sexual Abuse Awareness Week, November 26, 2012, James Dunlap and dedicated supporters release Millstone (The Novel) to reveal these sexual predators and to save children from becoming their next victims.   Joelle Casteix joins the program today also as the  leading national spokesperson, writer, and advocate for victims of child sexual abuse.  She is also the Western Regional Director for SNAP, Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests. Former police officer Tom Townsend joins the show as well.  Having investigated several sexual abuse cases in his career and knowing the impact it has on children even as they grow into adults, Tom Townsend takes every opportunity he can to help prevent it and educate all children to speak out, reveal their abusers and seek help.
