Buckle up, buttercup, because this is NOT your average episode of Very Clinical! Back in March of 2020, when Dr. Mac Jones was still one of the hosts of the podcast, they guys did a crossover episode with the Working Interferences crew (Dr. Josh Austin and Dr. Lance Timmerman) It was a wild ride of dental advice, shenanigans, and more than a few "colorful" words. Highlights: Special Crossover Episode: Very Clinical meets Working Interferences for the first time ever! The Great Pacifier Debate: A Reddit question about "adult pacifiers" sends the guys down a hilarious rabbit hole of questionable online communities and unexpected discoveries. Crown Prep Hacks: Even with the chaos, we manage to squeeze in some valuable clinical tips for faster and more efficient crown preps. Nostalgia Overload: Relive the glory days of 90s chat rooms (ICQ, anyone?), 80s TV crossovers, and the one true "One Shining Moment" by David Barrett. Very Clinical is brought to you by Zirc Dental Products, Inc., your trusted partner in dental efficiency and organization. Many very well-accomplished dentists, some who know far more about the detail of dentistry than we do, have trouble and struggle like we did in our own practices organizing and facilitating. We know they're looking for a safe space where they can be themselves, they can be authentic, and we can talk about our successes and failures. They look for guidance and community, and that community is Global Diagnosis, helping them to organize the process, but also standing with them and walking through the fire with them.” (6:51—7:39) -Dr. Otten“We all naturally take the path of least resistance, so bringing something back to your practice is hard. It's hard to institute it. We think about it in our heads, and we turn it over, and turn it over. But at...

I think it's when it launched. And I remember early on, being 11 years old, and seeing a Howie Mandel standup special and thinking, ‘God, I would love to do that one day. But there's no way I have the talent or skill to do that.'” (15:31—15:48)“Remember the movie, Field of Dreams? It's one of my favorite movies. There's a character named Moonlight Graham. And Moonlight Graham comes up because he got one at-bat in the Major Leagues, and then he never got to play again. And I remember somebody in the movie saying something like, ‘Aren't you angry? Don't you wish you had more chance?' And he's like, ‘No. I got to live my dream, even if it was one at-bat.' And so, [opening for Jim Gaffigan] was my one at-bat. It'll probably never happen again, and it's fine. And not a ton of dental meetings have standup comics, surprisingly, so it'll probably never come up. I'll probably never get another chance to do it, and that's totally fine. I'm totally happy with it. The fact that I got to do it once was amazing.” (16:35—17:18)“I'm bad about celebrating . ....

In our latest podcast episode, we spoke with Josh Austin, Director Of Technology at InnovateMR. In late 2021, Austin completed a Brand30 30 Day Content Challenge, producing a month's worth of API-related content for the world. Austin's goal is to introduce the rest of the world, non-technical folks and business leaders alike, to the greatness of APIs. He shared with me two of his main takeaways from the content challenge. The first focuses on encouraging those who aren't your average developer to be as jazzed about APIs as the rest of us are and creates a little more clarity around the API space. The second piece centers around advice for API fanatics looking to create an API program of their own. Whether you're a seasoned developer or a nontechnical enthusiast looking to learn more about APIs, Austin provides a wide array of content on the world of APIs that you can check out on his LinkedIn. The Stoplight API design blog also caters to many of the topics we discussed in our latest podcast with Austin.Do you have a question you'd like answered, or a topic you want to see in a future episode?
