When Kori Hahn was twenty, she packed up everything she owned – which wasn't much – and drove nonstop for seven days, ending up in Alaska. She lived off-grid and made her own way through life, which gave her a lifelong taste for living mindfully and slowing down. From there, she began to travel extensively, leading her to Sri Lanka as of this conversation.Kori wanted to prove to the yogis of the world the importance of intuition. Rooted in that driving idea, she dove into the pursuit of writing a book, Rituals of the Soul. Through that process, she learned to redefine, for herself, what yoga is, and what it means to her.She joins the podcast to share how you can use the eight principles of yoga to live a more balanced, meaningful life while cultivating a deeper connection to purpose. To learn more, and for the complete show notes, visit: lytyoga.com/blog/category/podcasts/Resources:santoshasociety.comRead: Rituals of the SoulInstagram: @santosha.societySponsors:Visit tryveganmealprep.com and use code LYTYOGA for 25% off your first orderRedefining Yoga is a production of Crate Media See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Book Description: Rituals of the Soul: Using the 8 Ancient Principles of Yoga to Create a Modern & Meaningful Life Kori Hahn has always done life her way — living off the grid as a young woman in Alaska; studying with spiritual teachers and soul guides in Mexico, Sri Lanka, and Morocco; surfing around the world. Yet her primary, perennial quest has been an inner one. To that end, she evolved the practices she shares in this book, simple daily steps grounded in sacred yogic texts that will help you live your life your way, with maximum meaning and joy. Timeless principles of awareness, intuition, self-knowledge, and manifestation become contemporary practices incorporating visualization, breath work, journaling affirmations, and meditation. These habits of being grow the soul, enable our bravest and best selves, and, as Hahn shows, can take you wherever you most want to be. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Surfer / author / yogini Kori Hanh discusses her new book Rituals of the Soul with What Matters Most podcast host Paul Samuel Dolman. The post Kori Hahn #931 appeared first on Paul Samuel Dolman.
Author Kori Hahn has always done life her way — living off the grid as a young woman in Alaska; studying with spiritual teachers and soul guides in Mexico, Sri Lanka, and Morocco; surfing around the world. Whether she was seeking adventure, sunshine, or the perfect wave, her primary, perennial quest has consistently been an inner one. In her new book, Rituals of the Soul: Using the 8 Ancient Principles of Yoga to Create a Modern & Meaningful Life, Kori shows readers how the 8 principles of yoga can help them connect with and start living from their intuition. “Our intuition is a soft-spoken, subtle voice whispering from the deepest, most subconscious place within,” writes Kori. “In this book, I will share with you a system for hearing these whispers, through the ancient personal development path of yoga . . . Hearing these whispers is the key to using your human life for the purpose your soul is asking of you.” In Rituals of the Soul, venerable principles concerning awareness, intuition, self-knowledge, and manifestation become contemporary practices incorporating visualization, breath work, journaling, affirmations, and meditation. Kori's approach helps readers personalize these tools, rather than prescribing a one-size-fits-all path, so they become beloved rituals rather than onerous to-dos. In time, these regular habits grow the soul, and, as Kori shows, can take any reader wherever they most want to be. “In this book, you will learn to move within, to find clarity on what your soul wants from you, and to put simple daily rituals in place to help make these dreams a reality,” writes Kori. “When you create the rituals for each step and diligently practice them, your life will become more soulful and exciting! Your life will become the creation of your dreams.” Kori Hahn is the author of Rituals of the Soul and founder of a community gathering place called the Santosha Society, which is dedicated to travel, surfing, and the soulful. Did you find that there was a process of letting go, of unlearning, as you started to embrace the changes that came with your rebirth? Sometimes, it's difficult to use the pieces of our existing life as the compost for new growth, and it can often seem haphazard and clumsy, but with a fair amount of right effort and right attention, plus some helpful advice and guidance along the way, it is possible to build something new, whole, and more familiar and comfortable than we'd likely imagined possible. Bringing Ancient Wisdom to Modern Life by Creating Daily Rituals I loved this conversation with Kori Hahn. It was a true pleasure to dive into the ancient practice of yoga from a holistic perspective! She has a book out which dives into the ancient and modern day practices of yoga for the modern mind seeking more understanding, self-study and compassion for the human condition. Rituals of the Soul: Using the 8 Ancient Principles of Yoga to Create a Modern and Meaningful Life by Kori HahnIs your life a wild exploration, or does it feel mundane and lack excitement? Is the life you are living based on logical reason and society's expectations, or are you doing exactly what makes your heart beat a little faster with passion and enthusiasm? If you listened more intently to what your heart wants, what would you be doing? What are your dreams, and why aren't you living them at the moment? These are the questions that author Kori Hahn poses in the introduction to Rituals of the Soul: Using the 8 Ancient Principles of Yoga to Create a Modern and Meaningful Life (New World Library, October 5, 2021). She dedicates the rest of the book to showing readers how the eight ancient steps of yoga can help them answer them. What We Talk AboutLearn about Sanskrit and what the Yogic terms are that we use to talk about Yoga from ancient to modern timesWhat are the Yamas and NiyamasHow do you practice the 8 limbs of Yoga in a modern day contextWhy do we practice yoga and what is the actual goalWhat does Yoga Asana actually meanHow to move Yoga beyond the mat, what does it mean to live your practice on and off the mat, "Outside of the Studio"If you have ever wanted to learn more about Yoga, Sanskrit, Ashtanga or the 8 Limbs of Yoga - then this episode is for YOU! Rituals for the Soul empowers readers to create a customized yoga prescription that will help them hear and start acting on their intuition. The eight-step strategy Kori offers is based on the teachings of the world's greatest (and oldest) yogis in an ancient text called the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which can be challenging to understand in its original form. So Kori offers her own interpretations and real-life examples from her life as a yogi, bohemian, surfer, and mama to make each of the eight principles easier to integrate into modern life. While yoga is often seen as a form of exercise or meditation, Rituals of the Soul offers an easy-to-digest understanding of the deeper, fundamental principles of yoga. Kori offers readers new ways of using tools like meditation and breath work, affirmations, visualizations, and journaling to cultivate more spaciousness, presence, awareness, worthiness, and heightened focus in their daily lives. In fact, readers can use the formula explained in the book every day without ever setting foot on a yoga mat.

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to take your yoga practice deeper. We all know that when we take good care of ourselves outside the office, our work thrives as well. Yoga is one way to get there. Now, if you haven't heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you're ready to continue on, let's pick back up here with my conversation with Kori Hahn as she simplifies how to take your yoga practice deeper. It's time to simplify… Here's how. My special guest today is Kori Hahn and she's simplifying how to take your yoga practice deeper. We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including: Why she believes it's important to have rituals in your life for your wellbeing What role having a yoga practice can play in becoming a more intuitive person and how it can help you through relationship issues How she defines a “modern and meaningful life” - especially now If your self-worth is having a bit of a wobble, how yoga can help you redefine and realign your identity …and ultimately, we do a short session of yoga nidra together (which you too can take part in!) and we'll learn how it could help during seasons of grief, heartbreak, or difficult times. It's another week of our new way of podcasting, splitting the weekly episode up into two parts… We've been getting lots of positive feedback from you on this! If you haven't heard yet, we are releasing the first half now and part two on Friday this week. That way, the content is in a smaller, bite-size portion for you to listen to now, simmer on this entire week and be intentional with integrating what you learn into your everyday life. We are simplifying our episodes to be shorter in length, easier to listen to, on-the-go. Things have changed with the pandemic, including our old ways of listening to podcasts (either on our commute or at the gym)…and we've listened. Now you get shorter episodes, split into two for simpler learning. Q: Are you ready to take your yoga practice deeper? If yes, this one is for you. It's time to #DoTheThing ---- Show notes available with all LINKS mentioned here: https://thesimplifiers.com/podcast/kori-hahn-take-your-yoga-practice-deeper-part-two

Would you like to take your yoga practice deeper? If you've ever practiced yoga for any period of time, I bet you've learned a couple of things... it's not about the designer leggings or the cool accessories or a fancy mat. It's not about the music or the sweat pouring down your body or the temperature in the room. It's not about the weight you lose or the muscles you gain that matters. It's about the practice... and how what you learn on your mat helps you process everything that happens **OFF** your mat, as well. My special guest today is Kori Hahn and she's simplifying how to take your yoga practice deeper. She believes that this is the secret to creating a truly meaningful life. Here's how. This week on The KORE Women podcast Dr. Summer Watson talks with Kori Hahn, who is the author of Rituals of the Soul and founder of a community gathering place called the Santosha Society, which is dedicated to travel, surfing, and the soulful. She hosts numerous trips around the world for hundreds of women who study Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, and all things related to soul growth, knowledge, and fulfillment. When she isn't traveling, she divides her time between Sri Lanka and Southern California. A few of the questions she asks in her book is, "is your life a wild exploration, or does it feel mundane and lack excitement? Is the life you are living based on logical reason and society's expectations, or are you doing exactly what makes your heart beat a little faster with passion and enthusiasm? If you listened more intently to what your heart wants, what would you be doing? What are your dreams, and why aren't you living them at the moment?" Rituals of the Soul empowers readers to create a customized yoga prescription that will help them hear and start acting on their intuition.
