For this episode of Necronomicast, it is my pleasure to welcome to the show filmmaker Seth Breedlove! Seth has written, edited, produced and directed shorts and features about a variety of topics but is best known for his production company and the films they've produced under the Small Town Monsters banner. In 2013, Breedlove began working on the concept for a series entitled Small Town Monsters. In general, he set out to capture true accounts from tiny communities often forgotten by the larger media outlets, and from the era (1960s and 1970s) of high intensity monster encounters. These cryptid sightings and stories were perfect for a documentary production company with a history of working in the Midwest. Seth Breedlove achieved his goal with sterling results. He was able to document cryptozoology by interviewing the original witnesses and re-creating/re-discovering elements of the cases at the ground level. After 10 years, dozens of productions, and millions of downloads and views, learn why Small Town Monsters is one of the best independent film companies in America. Gender Revolution: How Electoral Politics and #MeToo are Reshaping Everyday Life (Routledge, 2023) by Dr. Pamela Aronson and Matthew R. Fleming carefully examines the profound transformations happening in both public and private arenas of gender relations. It also draws critical attention to the simultaneous and potent challenges that have risen in response. The authors look to large-scale phenomena in this contemporary study and address how electoral politics and the #MeToo movement are reshaping everyday life. This gender revolution has led to a culture in which women, and increasing numbers of men, refuse to accept traditional gender norms and gender inequalities. People of all genders no longer tolerate abuses of power in politics or in their interpersonal relationships. Despite vigorous resistance, women are seizing power and refusing to back down, in ways both large and small. The authors note on the one hand that people of all genders in support of these transformations are voting for progressive candidates, engaging on social media, and making their interpersonal relationships more equal. On the other hand, they document considerable backlash and contestation, as some people are resisting these changes and creating adversarial gender divisions. Probing across these issues, the book develops an analysis of gendered social and cultural change that reveals how movement ideas diffuse into broader culture. Gender Revolution presents a vibrant and essential study for a moment marked by significant changes to attitudes, beliefs, and views surrounding gender and gender relations and will appeal to readers interested in the scholarly study of gender, society, politics, media, law, and culture. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose new book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. In Vatsyāyāna's Commentary on the Nyāya-Sūtra: A Guide (Oxford University Press, 2023), Matthew Dasti unpacks a canonical classical Indian text, the Nyāyabhāṣya, while simultaneously demonstrating its relevance to contemporary philosphy. The commentary, the earliest extant on the Nyayasūtra, ranges over topics in metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of language, dialectics, and value theory. Dasti's guide includes his own translations of selections of the text and engagement with select interpretive controversies, such as a focused treatment of Vatsyāyāna's approach to logic in an appendix. Another appendix includes a reading plan and survey of relevant scholarship for readers looking to learn more about Vatsyayana and early Nyāya. Malcolm Keating is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Yale-NUS College. His research focuses on Sanskrit works of philosophy in Indian traditions, in the areas of language and epistemology. He is the author of Language, Meaning, and Use in Indian Philosophy (Bloomsbury Press, 2019) and host of the podcast Sutras & Stuff. Learn more about your ad choices. Shown to extend overall survival beyond single-agent treatment, these combinations of androgen deprivation therapy and other effective treatments such as docetaxel chemotherapy and/or novel androgen axis inhibitors have resulted in regulatory approvals and updates to clinical practice guidelines. Given the range of effective options and more on the horizon, as additional agents and combinations are also being studied in localized and advanced disease, how do clinicians ensure that the right patients are getting the right treatments? In this activity, based on a recent live symposium, expert faculty pair in-depth updates on efficacy and safety data on approved and emerging regimens with case-based discussion of best practices for bringing treatment advances to the clinic. Featured topics include individualizing care based on patient-, disease-, and treatment-related factors, toxicity management, and patient perspectives. Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to: Summarize the rationale and clinical evidence for established and emerging hormonal therapeutic approaches for patients with prostate cancer; Employ optimal, individualized treatment plans for patients with prostate cancer that incorporate established and emerging hormonal therapeutics, as appropriate, taking into consideration individual patient-, disease-, and treatment-related factors; and Apply evidence- and team-based strategies to proactively mitigate and manage treatment-related adverse events that may occur in patients with prostate cancer who are receiving established and emerging hormonal therapeutics as part of their care.

Tyler is honored to have special guest CPL Matthew R. Bradford, USMC (RET) on our podcast today. On September 11, 2001, as a freshman in high school, Matthew like so many others watched the terrorist attacks on America's soil. He knew at that moment he wanted to join the military after graduating and in September 2005 Matthew enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. On January 18, 2007, Matthew was severely injured after stepping on an Improvised Explosive Device in Haditha Iraq. This moment put Matthew on a detour and he would learn the true meaning of overcoming and adapting. He did not know the extent of his injuries until he woke up in Bethesda Naval Hospital three weeks later.Matthew never lets his injuries define who he is or what he can do. Each obstacle is a new challenge. Over the years he has been inspired to share his story to motivate others through their own life challenges with his message of Just Walk. Even without Legs and Vision, you can still have No Problems.Tune in to hear Matthew's journey in learning to adapt and overcome his adversities so he could move forward to living his best life.Visit Matthew's website at https://www.matthew-bradford.com/Follow Matthew onInstagram @m_bradford_usmcTwitter @bionikmatt5Facebook at No Legs No Vision No ProblemSupport the show

The therapeutic landscape for metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) has evolved rapidly in recent years, and research endeavors continue to expand treatment options with significant implications for patients. In addition to the approval of multiple second-generation androgen deprivation therapies (ADTs), current clinical trials are investigating novel targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and combination approaches in different disease settings. Furthermore, when managing patients with mCSPC, clinicians must consider established, newly approved, and emerging therapies, as well as individual patient-, tumor-, and treatment-related factors. Given the wealth of new options, how do clinicians determine the best treatment course for each patient? Answers to this and other thought-provoking queries are provided in this educational activity based on a recent live symposium, as a panel of prostate cancer experts examine the latest clinical data for novel and emerging therapeutic approaches and discuss evidence-based strategies for individualizing treatment for each patient with mCSPC. Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to: Assess the rationale and clinical evidence for novel therapeutic approaches for patients with mCSPC, such as the addition of novel androgen axis inhibitors or docetaxel to ADT, Develop optimal, individualized treatment plans for patients with mCSPC that incorporate novel therapeutics as appropriate, taking into consideration individual patient-, disease-, and treatment-related factors, Apply evidence- and team-based strategies to proactively mitigate and manage treatment-related adverse events that may occur in patients with mCSPC who are receiving novel therapeutics as part of their care, Employ effective strategies to engage patients with mCSPC in shared decision-making, with the goal of maximizing patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and treatment adherence.
