Violence is a thing of the past—but do new horrors lie in wait? Imagine a world devoid of violence—a world where fists can't hit, guns don't kill, and bombs can't destroy. In this tantalizing novel of possibility, this has—suddenly and inexplicably—become our new reality. The U.S. president must find a new way to wage war. The Pope ponders whether the Commandment “Thou Shalt Not Kill” is still relevant. A dictator takes his own life after realizing that the violence he used to control his people is no longer an option. In the first days after the change, seven people who have experienced violence struggle to adapt to this radical new paradigm: Dab, a bullied middle schooler; Marcus, a high school student whose brother is the last victim of gun violence in America; Ann, a social worker stuck in an abusive marriage; Richard, a professor whose past makes him expect the worst inthe present; Gabriela, who is making a dangerous border crossing into the U.S.; the Empty Shell, a dissident writer waiting to be tortured in a notorious prison; and Julian, a white supremacist plotting a horrific massacre. As their fates intertwine, the promise and perils of this new world begin to take shape. Although violence is no longer possible, that doesn't mean that some among us won't keep trying. Mindless cruelty is still alive and well—and those bent on destruction will seek the most devious means to achieve it.Support this show See for privacy and opt-out information.

The uncle of an FBI agent spends his life as sheriff in different cities, living too close to the violent acts of men; a cocktail waitress moves through several desert towns trying to escape the unexplainable loss of an adopted daughter; a drug dealer with a penchant for karaoke meets a talkative lawyer and a silent clown in a Palm Springs bar.Witty, brutal, and fast-paced, these stories expand upon the saga of Chicago hitman-turned-Vegas-rabbi Sal Cupertine--first introduced in Gangsterland and continued in Gangster Nation--while revealing how the line between good and bad is often a mirage.Support this show See for privacy and opt-out information.

Now, with The Fighting Soul, Ari Rabin-Havt takes us where no profiles or televised interview have been able to go. As a close advisor and deputy campaign manager on Sanders's most recent—and likely last—presidential campaign, the tireless Rabin-Havt spent more hours between 2017 and 2020 with the Vermont senator than anyone else. Traveling the country for rallies and to support striking workers, the two visited thirty-six states, drove tens of thousands of miles, and ate in countless chain restaurants. One result was a meteoric and galvanizing presidential campaign. Another is The Fighting Soul, an unforgettable chronicle of life on the road with Sanders and the first in-depth portrait of this fiercely independent, and famously private, left-wing firebrand.Sanders's second bid for the presidency began in Rabin-Havt's apartment in Washington DC in January 2018. From there, Rabin-Havt offers a behind-the-scenes account of Sanders's run, including his heart attack in Las Vegas, his notorious debate encounter with fellow-progressive Elizabeth Warren, and a momentous conversation between Sanders and Barack Obama that has never been reported before. At every step, Rabin-Havt shows us Bernie Sanders when the cameras turn off: his dry sense of humor; his views of his young supporters; the pivotal role his wife, Jane, plays in every decision he makes; and more. Delving into Sanders's life and career, with moving glimpses of his childhood in Brooklyn and first forays into politics in Burlington, Rabin-Havt discloses that Sanders is shocked by his ascent: “Ari, my parents would tell me I was crazy if I told them I would become a senator, much less could become president of the United States.”Support this show See for privacy and opt-out information.

Upon learning of his high-profile previous owner's regret at having made the transformation, the penis embarks upon a perilous journey for them to be reunited - aided and abetted by a motley, wonderfully personable, and engaging selection of other discarded body parts. In parts grotesque, laugh-out-loud funny, and undeniably poignant, in others, I Am Joe's Unwanted Penis is a buddy story absolutely like no other!I have three novels out in 2016; the skin-crawling, creature horror; ‘‘Pede' (published by Black Bed Sheet Books), ‘The Erotic Odyssey of Colton Forshay' (a bizarro style fantasy, Fat Lip Press June 21, 2016), ‘And Then You Die' – a particularly grotesque horror/bizarro story (published by J Ellington Ashton - TBA), and in 2017, ‘Flanagan' - a psychosexual horror (Sinister Grin Press). In addition, there are the short stories; (‘Winning & Losing') published in The Ripple Effect (Horrified Press), ‘Road Trip Bingo' (Black Bed Sheet Books' anthology 'Bumps in the Road'), ‘The Five Towns Pageant' (J Ellington Ashton ‘Full Moon Slaughter', Halloween 2016), ‘Zombie Hooker: A Love Story (Fat Lip Press ‘Carnival of Gore' anthology 2016) and ‘Trophy Wife' (The Creeps magazine, date TBA).I write screenplays and currently have three under option (a spine-chilling horror, a Tarantino-esque crime caper and an animated family movie).
