This week's episode is pretty low key, but we hope you find it as fun to listen to as we did recording it. For the episode we've chose to answer four questions we've received from listeners: 1) How do you stay close with siblings, especially when you're in different stages? (And help your kids stay close?) 2) What do you do for family scripture study and personal scripture study? 3) How do you find stillness? 4) What do you do for exercise?  We've shared our answers, but we'd also love to hear yours! Taralyn’s morning routines. Meet Taralyn! My cohost for Find the Magic! She is sharing her morning routines in this insightful episode. Hone your perfect morning routine! We are breaking down our morning routines and tools to make them happen.  Book : https://amzn.to/2RwRmMp  1. My meditation I invite you to try for 30 days: 1. Gratitude Breaths: 3 super deep breaths, thinking of one thing you are grateful for per breath, 2. Loving kindness meditation: Picture someone you love in front of you, and take a deep breath, and imagine all of the cells in your body lighting up with love and awesome energy. Then, take a super deep breath in and exhale that love out to your whole home or building. Do that same thing with your city, state, country, earth, and universe (imagining the love coming back to you on each inhale and sending it out on the exhale). After you’ve done at least one breath for each of those places, just end with that love coming back to you and energizing you. 3. Mantra Meditation: take 5-10 deep breaths, repeating the word ONE in your mind. When your mind wanders, that’s great! Just come back to the word ONE and take a few more breaths. 2. Exercise Tip: 7 Minute Workout App: it’s free and awesome if you want a quick workout:) 3. 6 minute miracle morning, which anyone can do and it will transform your life even if you don’t want to spend more time! 1. Sit down with a journal, book, and timer. Spend one minute on each of the following six SAVERS: Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, and Scribing. 4. Document your state! Write down your current ratings on a scale of 1-10 of Balance (1 being totally unbalanced and 10 being perfectly balanced) and Contentment: (1 being not content with yourself or any aspect of life and 10 being perfectly content with yourself and your life). Do this now, and again at the end of 30 days of implementing a morning habit. See if there is a difference:)! The Speaking Club: Mastering the Art of Public Speaking

The way my brain is wired means I have lots of ideas and I'm able to see the big picture quickly… that's the upside. Marketing Study Lab Helping You Pass Marketing Qualifications

We go deep into equality, openness, diversity, changing cultural bias, oh and swinging from stuff, with Ori Chandler, the Managing Director of Involve (the inclusion people) and without stealing her thunder, as she can put it far more eloquently than I can, champion diversity inclusion in businesses, but this is only half the story as throughout her career Ori has worked for various organisations representing their members and championing great causes. Takeaways - A diverse workforce helps to attract and retain others, it’s all about talent management. The next generation, the millennials, look to organisations that have an open culture, where someone can thrive and grown rather than the structured approach you sometimes see in the more established companies, which can stifle diversity and creativity. Diversity of people also breeds diversity of thought, which in turn will help with understanding your clients and customers much better by way of happier, healthier more productive team members - I thought the reverse engineering of mentoring where senior leaders are paired with emerging talent so they can share their insight into what its like to be seen as different in a workplace of today is such a good idea. We can always learn and sometimes we just need to see things a little differently or from a different angle to start to actually understand something in a different way. - Openness is incredibly important and communicating openly is essential. This openness means you can be yourself, your best self. Getting out of your comfort zone to achieve this can only bring good, as this is where you start to create a culture that can thrive and you also get to know the true you - and who doesn't want to know the true you, you’re brilliant.  If you’re not being true, you’re not being true to yourself. No one should be held back by their identity - Be bold, be brave, be open.   Top Tip - Mentoring My top tip this week includes a little advice on what to do after you have passed your qualification - and that's get a mentor, which I’ve mentioned in a previous episode not so long ago. You’ve worked hard, studied, done the research, written your last assignment, got the grade you wanted (obviously!) but now what? What is your clear plan after your qualification? You don't have to go it alone, in fact it would be ill advised to do so. You need someone that has been there and done that, almost emulating where you would like your career to go, someone that can advise you on the macro details and the long term future but also offer some help with the micro or day to day elements that you maybe struggling with. Don't feel restricted by any way of asking multiple people to be mentors in different areas of experience, this can also pay dividends. But where to go to find someone willing to be a mentor? I think you would be surprised how may people are willing to help the next generation of Marketers. I would advise staring with the CIMs own dedicated mentoring program which can be found at www.cim.co.uk/more/mentoringI have also mentioned this in previous episodes as I don't think it is highlighted enough or given the recognition it deserves as such a valuable resource to CIM members. One final note, back in our interview with Ori, she mentioned reverse engineering the mentoring, which is a fantastic idea and something that could potentially work within Marketing, specifically around digital, social and influencers, so although I’ve mentioned only one way of finding a mentor, it maybe the case that you go direct to someone you admire on a social platform (younger or older, it doesn't really matter as long as they can provide advice and guidance to get you to where you want to be) – simply ask them if they’d be interested in mentoring you, but make sure it is specific to the area of their own expertise, they can only say no but they might just say yes! How I Broke Into: Michael Prywes Interviews Artists and Entrepreneurs About Their Big Break

For most of my life, I was a night owl. Starting a little more than 5 years ago, I went through a series of transformations to better my life, and one of my greatest and most difficult transformations was going from a night owl to an early bird. When people heard what I was doing, many told me about this amazing book, The Miracle Morning, widely regarded as “one of the most life-changing books ever written”. I read it (and listened to the audio book), and I was inspired. When I started up my podcast, "How I Broke Into," Hal Elrod was on the short list of people I just had to interview. Hal Elrod is the #1 best-selling author of The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed To Transform Your Life… Before 8AM. It is also one of the highest rated books on Amazon with over 1,300 five-star reviews. What’s even more incredible is that Hal actually died at age 20. He was hit head on by a drunk driver at 70 mph, broke 11 bones, died for 6 minutes, and spent 6 days in a coma only to wake up to face the news that he may never walk again... Not only did Hal walk, he went on to run a 52-mile ultra marathon, become a hall of fame business achiever, an international keynote speaker, one of the world’s top success coaches, he’s a hip-hop recording artist, has been featured in the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series, writes for Entrepreneur.com, has appeared on radio and TV shows across the country, and the list just goes on and on. Robert Kiyosaki, author of the all-time bestselling book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, said the following about Hal: “Hal Elrod is a genius and his book The Miracle Morning has been magical in my life. As my rich dad often said, ‘I can always make another dollar, but I cannot make another day.’ If you want to maximize every day of your life, read The Miracle Morning.'” Notes from the show: The Miracle Morning really changes lives: "What do you want to change in your life right now?" At 19, Hal started in sales. He didn't know how to sell, but was enthusiastic and knew how to work hard. At 20, Hal was hit by a drunk driver, and was told he would never walk again. He thinks it was one of the best things to ever happen to him. He chose to be grateful for what he had. 2 weeks after the crash, doctors were concerned that Hal was having delusions and was in denial. He was always telling jokes, smiling. He told his Dad, "I love my life by the five minute rule... It's okay to be negative when things go wrong. But not for more than 5 minutes." "Everything happens for a reason, but I think we have to choose the reason." "We can take an adversity... if we learn and grow from it, it becomes an advantage." Cutco is a microcosm for life: "It's not about knives. It's about who we're becoming." "For anything we do in life, it's who we're becoming that's more important than what we're doing. Yet, the interesting thing is that what we're doing determineswho we're becoming." If it weren't for his mentor Jesse Levine, Hal would have quit Cutco on the very first day. Before Cutco, Hal had never heard the terms "personal development" or "positive thinking." You need to lead by example. You can't force people to change. He pushed healthy eating and the Miracle Morning practice on his wife, and she turned off. But when he stopped pushing, she responded. It's important to ask a lot of questions. He recommends Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday. Started doing The Miracle Morning practice with 1 other person, his client Katie, and realized that if it could change two people's lives, it could change a whole lot more. The book has been translated into 20 languages, but he still is surprised by its massive successful. He believes the success of the book lies in distilling the 6 most powerful practices in personal development, which can be applied in every arena. The Miracle Morning for Parents and Families is coming out in the fall of 2016. The Happiness Advantage - Shawn Anchor Happy for No Reason - Marci Shimoff 5 Minute Journal App People have said they've gotten off of depression medication within weeks of the Miracle Morning practice. The Optimistic Child - Martin Seligman To be physically fit, you have to work at it. Why would emotional well-being be any different? Hal believes in trying to exhaust other possibilities before anti-depressants. He knows someone who stopped chemo and went on a raw vegan diet, and hasn't had cancer since. Socrates said, "Let thy medicine be thy food." Make changes now that will allow you to live longer. OmVana App 7 Minute Workout App - 30 seconds of exercise Blinkist App Hal's program is Best Year Ever. Drug Addicts Didn’t Wake up and Think I”m going to get hooked on coke today. It comes in tiny little incremental baby steps.  One line with a friend because it’s going to be a great night out and you haven’t had that in a while. That leads to two…  Then to buying a bit of your own so you can share next time (nobody likes mooch). Then just a bit the next morning to help you get started on your day.  … and so the story goes. These small little baby steps over time will lead to a major change in your life. There's something similar in the aviation world I’m a licensed pilot and one of the things we learn as pilots is just about every accident begins with one or more minor shifts outside of the safety area. One extra bag of souvenirs from the trip that put you near the weight limit. Knowing you still have plenty of fuel from the day before so you don’t need to do a visual check. Pushing on to the next airport because there’s a storm coming and you want to beat it. See, we push ourselves just a tiny bit outside of the complete safety zone. It’s a minor shift... The Good News The same works in the opposite direction as well.  Small little baby steps in the right direction, over time, lead to huge positive changes in our life. Deciding to make one little change in what you eat each day.  Just 150 calories less each day, over time…  makes a huge change. Bringing a healthy lunch to work each day instead of “figuring something out when the time comes." The same happens with fitness.  It doesn’t take you becoming a gym rat who spends 3 hours a day working out, for you to get fit. Just a small shift like taking 10,000 steps per day. Downloading and using daily the 7 Minute Workout App.  7 Minutes! That’s small. Doing as many push ups as possible each day and then adding 1 more each week.  Just 1 more per week. In a year, you’re doing 52 more push ups than when you started. The same can be applied to our knowledge. Reading 15 minutes per day before you go to bed.  Just 15 minutes..  In a year, that will be over 90 hours of reading.  If the average person reads 200 words per minute, you’ll have read over a million words.   The typical book is about 60,000 words That means, in one year, with one minor shift… you’ll have read 18 books. MORE THAN NOW. The Same Happens in Relationships Do the same minor incremental change with your loved ones.  Tell you wife something she did that you appreciate just once per day.   See how that change will affect your relationship in a year.  Try it.  Spend the time it takes to play for 15 more minutes with your child each day.  What about spending 1 meal per week together with the entire family. No TV…  Just one a week. What about a minor change with what goes into your mind? Just one less 30 minute TV show each week will give you 26 hours a year to do something beneficial. What if you invested that into the lives of a local non-profit, as a volunteer? That’s a small incremental change that is invested in a small way into someone else’s life and look at the potential ripple effect that could have.  SMALL TINY CHANGES… In the right direction, over time, will leave you with a dramatically different life. Remember that example..  you’re walking in the desert and you decide to shift to the right by just a small amount, 5 degrees…  after 12 feet, you’ve shifted about 1 foot off your original path.  After 100 feet, you’ve shifted by almost 9 feet.   After just 1 mile, you’re shifted over about 450 feet from where you would have ended up. In ONE mile..just one. In 10 miles, you’re almost one mile off from where you started.   What if you compounded this and every mile, you shifted by 5 degrees. Small incremental shifts…    This would lead to exponential change…  massive change down the road. If you’re a math expert, let me know… I don’t want to give you bad data.  Call to Action Make one minor change today.  What is it going to be for you? Keep it small… but commit to it for a long time.  So make sure it’s something you can do for an extended period of time.
