I am absolutely loving The In the Arena with the Eyre Sisters podcast! As a young mom trying to create an engaging and learning-focused home environment, I have found this podcast to be incredibly enlightening. It brings a smile to my face and laughter to my day as I hear about each sister's unique perspective on various topics. Whoever chooses the podcast episodes is doing an amazing job, as each one is thought-provoking and insightful. I even have a whole note on my phone dedicated to jotting down "in the arena thoughts" that I can refer back to when I need guidance on traditions, family culture, parenting, and more. The Eyre sisters' parents clearly did a fantastic job raising them!
One of the best aspects of this podcast is how relatable it is. As someone who has been following Shawni's blog for years, I have always appreciated her practical ideas for home and family life. Hearing these sisters reminisce about their childhood and then share what works (and sometimes doesn't) in their own families is both uplifting and helpful. They are genuinely interested in helping other moms start wherever they are and make progress from there. Listening to them gives me inspiration to raise my future children with intentionality and provides me with great ideas to do so.
Another wonderful aspect of this podcast is how healing it can be for listeners. As a 30-something, feminist, progressive, mostly lapsed Catholic without kids yet (hopefully soon!), hearing the Eyre sisters discuss their mistakes, conflict resolution strategies, and transitioning from managing to cheerleading feels surprisingly therapeutic. It helps me heal some of my own childhood trauma surrounding emotional intelligence and parental struggles during the transition into adulthood.
The episode about technology was particularly impactful for me as a mom with two kids still at home. After listening to the podcast, my family sat down together, read articles on phone usage, discussed them openly, and created a contract regarding technology. It was an amazing and much-needed conversation that was prompted by this podcast episode. I am grateful for the Eyre sisters' willingness to address difficult topics and provide guidance.
In conclusion, I absolutely love The In the Arena with the Eyre Sisters podcast. The hosts offer fantastic advice, practical ideas, a genuine approach, a wealth of experience, interesting and relevant topics, a range of emotions, and a compassionate perspective towards ourselves and others. They have created something truly worth listening to, as they enrich lives and strengthen families regardless of our stage of life or experience. I want to express my gratitude and support for their valuable work. Keep it up!

This week we talk with our parents about questions that came up during Season 1 - questions like, "Mom, how did you actually feel about Dad surprising you with the land at Bear Lake?!" We also ask them questions about how they came up with their parenting approaches and if they have any regrets. Join us for an entertaining, inspiring episode that will have you laughing at stories of living in the Eyre house, as well as feeling emotional at beautiful reminders like "each child is a seedling." Don't forget to join us on Instagram @eyresisters!
Come join us for a fun discussion on traditions as we wrap up Season 1. We really enjoyed talking about traditions we had growing up around birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We also shared evolved and new traditions we have in our homes now. Traditions don't have to be fancy or stressful - they just need to be something that connects your family. We challenge you to do a tradition inventory so you and your family can decide which traditions to keep, which to get rid of, and maybe talk about some new ones to add. We'll be doing this too! Come share with us your meaningful family traditions on our instagram account!
