In this episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Maya Forstater, co-founder and CEO of Sex Matters, a human rights charity focused on clarifying the meaning of sex in UK law and policy. We delve into the significant implications of the recent Supreme Court ruling in the For Women Scotland case, which challenges the definition of "woman" in the Equality Act. Maya shares her personal journey, from being an ordinary mum to becoming a pivotal figure in the gender-critical debate after losing her job for expressing her beliefs about sex and gender. We explore the complexities of the Gender Recognition Act and its impact on women's rights, particularly in contexts like public boards and single-sex spaces. Maya emphasizes the importance of basing policies on actual sex rather than "gender identity" in order to protect women's rights. We also discuss the chilling effect of current laws on free speech in the UK, where individuals can face serious repercussions for expressing gender-critical views.Throughout our conversation, we aim to unpack the broader societal implications of these legal definitions and the ongoing struggle for clarity and fairness in the discourse surrounding gender and sex. Join us as we navigate these critical issues and consider what they mean for the future of women's rights and freedom of belief.Maya Forstater is co-founder and CEO of Sex Matters, a human rights charity campaigning for clarity on sex in law and policy in the UK. They were interveners on the winning side in the recent For Women Scotland supreme court case on the meaning of woman in the Equality Act. Maya came into the gender debate as the claimant in an employment-tribunal test case on belief discrimination, when she lost her job at the Center for Global Development after tweeting and writing about sex and gender. Her case established that ordinary beliefs about the two sexes are covered by the protected characteristic of belief in the Equality Act 2010.Before co-founding Sex Matters she had 20 years' experience as a researcher, writer and advisor working on business and sustainable development including on international tax policy, climate change and green finance, and human rights in supply chains.00:00 Start[00:01:01] Gender and belief discrimination.[00:06:00] Women's rights and legal battles.[00:11:11] Definition of sex in law.[00:12:25] Women's spaces and rights conflict.[00:16:45] Women's rights and trans issues.[00:23:24] Gender Recognition Certificate explained.[00:26:27] Gender Recognition Act implications.[00:28:38] Gender recognition and legal exceptions.[00:36:09] Birth certificate changes legality.[00:39:44] Arrests for social media comments.[00:40:59] Abuse of speech laws.[00:45:56] Employment rights and freedom of speech.[00:51:58] Mental health industry's responsibility.[00:55:25] Entitlement in psychological treatment.[00:58:59] Safeguards in Gender Recognition Act.[01:01:24] Bathroom rules and discrimination.[01:07:43] Digital identity and data issues.[01:09:51] Digital identity and privacy.[01:13:32] Gender identity and legal documents.[01:19:12] Birth records and gender identity.[01:21:00] "Non-binary" gender recognition.[01:26:10] Government endorsed identity layer.[01:32:02] Schools and gender recognition issues.[01:33:27] Guidance for schools on equality.ROGD REPAIR Course + Community gives concerned parents instant access to over 120 lessons providing the psychological insights and communication tools you need to get through to your kid. I welcome back Deb Fillman to delve into the complex intersection of education and mental health services in schools. We explore the growing trend of universal mental health screenings and the implications they have for students, teachers, and parents. Deb shares her concerns about how these programs often blur the lines between education and therapy, placing undue burdens on teachers and potentially mislabeling normal childhood behaviors as mental health issues. We discuss the shift from diagnosing conditions like ADHD to a broader pathologization of student behavior, raising critical questions about the effectiveness and necessity of these mental health initiatives. Are we truly addressing the needs of vulnerable students, or are we creating a culture of over-diagnosis and dependency on medication?Additionally, we examine the ethical considerations surrounding consent and privacy in school settings, particularly when it comes to sensitive topics like mental health. As we navigate these pressing issues, we aim to empower parents to think critically about the resources available to their children and to advocate for more meaningful educational experiences. Join us as we unpack these vital topics and consider the future of mental health in education.Deborah Fillman is the founder of The Reason We Learn, a YouTube channel and Substack publication dedicated to exposing what's happening in education and empowering parents to think clearly, ask better questions, and take charge of their children's learning.A longtime homeschooling mother of three—two now adults and one finishing high school—Deborah combines personal experience with deep research to help parents cut through the noise of educational jargon, political agendas, and the steady erosion of academic standards. She's known for her clear, principled commentary and her commitment to parental authority in education. In addition to her work online, Deborah is a private tutor and enrichment instructor with Cogito Learning Center, where she teaches logic, writing, and literature to students from across the country. She also advises families seeking alternatives to the conventional curriculum, helping them identify high-quality resources that challenge students intellectually and support their growth in character, independence, and critical thinking.Whether through video, writing, or direct instruction, Deborah's mission is the same: to restore clarity, courage, and common sense to the conversation about how—and why—we educate.cogitolearningcenter.com - Summer session starts July 6. In this profound episode, I sit down with Steve Palmer to explore an experience few dare to discuss openly: the struggle to conquer ego-dystonic autogynephilia. Steve experiences his compulsions to cross-dress and engage in paraphilic behavior as contradictory to his sense of self and the moral values by which he chooses to live.Steve's story is one of remarkable resilience, tracing a journey from adolescent confusion through drug-induced psychosis to a hard-won spiritual transformation. A heterosexual man with a strong masculine core, he shares candidly about how early sexual imprinting and personal challenges created a complex internal landscape. Despite bullying, intrusive thoughts, and deep internal conflict, he chose a path of radical honesty and personal accountability.Through faith, discipline, and commitment to his marriage and family, Steve has found a way to manage these impulses without letting them define him. His journey challenges simplistic narratives about gender and sexuality, offering a nuanced perspective on overcoming deeply ingrained psychological patterns. He speaks openly about the role of spirituality in healing, the importance of gratitude, and the ongoing work of maintaining his sense of self. For men struggling with similar experiences, Steve offers a message of hope and resilience. His story demonstrates that recovery is possible – not through suppression, but through honest confrontation, spiritual guidance, and personal growth. While compulsions may persist, they need not control one's life or identity. This episode provides a profound exploration of masculinity, sexual identity, and human transformation. Steve's candid discussion offers compassion and understanding for those wrestling with similar struggles, showing how one can navigate complex internal experiences with integrity and purpose.Steve Palmer knows something of the pain and affliction common to men that struggle with autogynephilia. He has experienced near unrelenting inner conflict and pressure to conform to daily AGP desires since age 12. Years of inner struggle slowly led him to consider that embracing these desires fulltime was the only way to silence the storm within.  Steve pursued answers through psychedelic experimentation and Buddhist practice in his early twenties. Drug induced and recurrent psychotic episodes followed. In his darkest hours he was willing to consider that maybe he was wrong about God. For the last 18 years he has trusted Jesus to show him how to live anew. Steve offers from experience how men struggling with AGP need not allow it to destroy their masculinity, their marriages, or their lives.Steve's Youtube Channel, Grace By Which I Stand[00:01:48] Hope and healing in struggles.[00:05:00] Hormone use and identity clash.[00:08:58] Internal struggles and self-identity.[00:12:09] Sexual addiction and recovery.[00:13:04] Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and conscientiousness.[00:17:36] Experiencing Buddhism through meditation.[00:20:55] Drug-induced psychosis recovery.[00:24:00] Truth vs. personal desire.[00:25:57] Spiritual vs. biological components of schizophrenia.[00:30:31] Spiritual agreements and deliverance.[00:32:10] Spiritual realm experiences and authority.[00:39:12] Nature of evil in ideology.[00:40:06] Grace requires honesty.[00:42:40] Gender identity and personal testimony.[00:46:35] Repression and identity struggle.[00:51:47] Erotic target location error.[00:56:55] Parallel play in relationships.[00:58:33] Overcoming personal struggles and growth.[01:01:25] Marriage as a gift from God.[01:06:40] Ego-dystonic vs. ego-syntonic.[01:09:40] Learning from transition experiences.[01:12:24] Support for men seeking honesty.[01:15:20] Forgiveness and personal growth.[01:19:12] Relationship transparency and struggles.[01:22:36] Masculine drive and self-soothing.[01:26:50] Overcoming personal challenges.[01:29:11] Consequences of personal choices.ROGD REPAIR Course + Community gives concerned parents instant access to over 120 lessons providing the psychological insights and communication tools you need to get through to your kid. You've seen it on your feed. Size 0 is trending again. Ozempic is the new green juice. And TikTok's “wellness” content? It's looking a lot like 2003 diet culture with a Gen Z filter. In this episode, Chalene Johnson is  breaking down the rise of “SkinnyTok,” the quiet (but aggressive) comeback of thin worship, and how it's messing with our heads—especially if you're a midlife woman trying to love your body and feel strong again. We'll talk about:     •    Why these trends are not new—and why they're so dangerous     •    What's really happening with body image on social media     •    How to filter out the noise and focus on what actually works (without wrecking your hormones)     •    My honest thoughts on Ozempic, rapid weight loss, and what to watch for   If you've ever felt like your worth is shrinking with your waistline, this one's for you. It's time we stopped letting teenage trends run our health.

Writer, activist, and mother of two, Samantha DeLoach, joins me to delve into the complex and often troubling world of reproductive technologies, including egg harvesting and IVF. We explore the emotional and medical consequences that women face when they engage with these procedures, particularly the risks that are often downplayed or ignored by the industry. Samantha shares her personal journey, reflecting on her own experiences as a college student tempted by the allure of quick cash for egg donation, and how her perspective has evolved over the years. We discuss the predatory nature of the reproductive industry, which targets vulnerable young women, and the societal pressures that lead them to make decisions that could have lifelong repercussions. Samantha highlights the stark reality that many women are sold a dream of balancing career and motherhood, only to find that the success rates of using frozen eggs are alarmingly low.Additionally, we touch on the philosophical implications of separating motherhood into distinct roles—biological, gestational, and social—and the potential identity issues that children conceived through these means may face. This conversation aims to challenge listeners to think critically about the ethics of reproductive technologies and the importance of prioritizing the well-being of children over adult desires. Join us as we navigate these pressing issues in bioethics and family planning.Growing up in a small town in the heart of Florida, Samantha DeLoach developed a deep appreciation for truth, beauty, and conviction. Now a social media consultant for Live Action and Them Before Us, she is a bold advocate for the pro-life cause and children's rights. Known as @Prolife_Sam on X, Samantha takes on pro-choice arguments with razor-sharp clarity, sharing the beauty of motherhood, and connecting women in crisis with life-affirming resources. A devoted Christian, wife of nearly 12 years, and mother of two boys, she believes the culture is starving for truth and she's committed to shining light into a morally declining culture by emphasizing that the rights and well-being of children must come before the desires of adults.Samantha's article in Evie Magazine: They Told Us Motherhood Could Wait, Then Sold it Back to Us at $12,000 a Round 00:00 Start[00:02:29] Egg harvesting consequences in college.[00:05:20] Consequences of egg donation.[00:08:11] Predatory egg donation practices.[00:11:12] Egg freezing and career choices.[00:15:24] Identity issues in reproductive technology.[00:19:21] Adoption vs. Surrogacy Perspectives.[00:25:00] Surrogacy and maternal roles.[00:27:24] The importance of childhood attachment.[00:32:36] Reproductive technologies and attachment wounds.[00:35:19] Rights and protection of children.[00:39:24] IVF and abortion in media.[00:44:54] Maternal attachment and pregnancy.[00:48:08] Mother-child emotional bond.[00:51:39] Birth control's long-term impact.[00:55:28] IVF and egg retrieval process.[01:02:00] IVF risks and complications.[01:02:43] IVF emotional decisions and regrets.[01:06:24] IVF and ethical dilemmas.[01:12:27] Child memory and psychological effects.[01:14:38] Genetically engineering children today.[01:20:18] Human connection and artificial wombs.[01:22:05] Children's rights and responsibilities.[01:25:42] Responsibility to future children.[01:29:40] Family origin stories and intentions.[01:32:57] Identity formation through stories.ROGD REPAIR Course + Community gives concerned parents instant access to over 120 lessons providing the psychological insights and communication tools you need to get through to your kid. I speak with Dr. Christian Conte, mental health specialist, author, and creator of Yield Theory—an approach to communication focused on reducing defensiveness. Dr. Conte has worked with people ranging from inmates in solitary confinement to elite athletes. What happens when we try to communicate with someone who's defensive? Dr. Conte's Yield Theory offers insights for navigating difficult conversations, especially with adolescents and young adults.Dr. Conte explains that meeting people where they are isn't just a nice sentiment—it's the only effective way to communicate. Using the metaphor of a "fool on the mountain" who yells down instructions that can't be heard, he illustrates why we must first join others where they stand. We explore key elements of Yield Theory: humility, curiosity, and non-attachment to beliefs. Dr. Conte describes his three-step approach—listen, validate, explore options—and why it works even in challenging settings. We delve into parenting applications, including how to set firm boundaries while maintaining compassion, why timing matters with teens, and the importance of natural consequences. Dr. Conte shares examples from raising his own daughter, demonstrating how sitting with uncomfortable emotions builds resilience. Our conversation also examines masculinity and what therapy gets wrong about men. How has "toxic masculinity" become problematic? Why do many men feel they cannot express themselves? What does healthy self-control really mean? What happens when we get trapped in what Dr. Conte calls our "cartoon world" of expectations versus reality? Can we learn to align our expectations with how people actually think, feel, and behave?Dr. Christian Conte is a nationally recognized mental health specialist, speaker, and creator of Yield Theory, a powerful approach to communication and emotional management that has transformed lives around the world. With a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and over 25 years of experience, he has worked with thousands of people - from the depths of solitary confinement in maximum security prisons to elite athletes, military personnel, police and corrections officers, first responders, and high-level professionals. He is known for his direct, compassionate, and no nonsense style, blending ancient wisdom with modern psychology, to teach self-mastery, emotional strength, and inner peace. Dr. Conte's work has been featured on television, in universities, and inside some of the most intense environments on earth. Above all, he is devoted to helping people become the strongest, clearest, and most authentic versions of themselves.Books by Dr. Conte can be found on Amazon. 00:00 Start[00:02:34] Yield Theory and communication.[00:05:40] Yield theory: empathy and humility.[00:08:23] Compassion and firm boundaries.[00:10:47] Compassion in parenting.[00:14:58] Cartoon world versus real world.[00:20:06] Emotional certainty in beliefs.[00:21:35] Changing beliefs and humility.[00:25:18] Modeling intellectual humility and non-attachment.[00:28:40] Meeting people where they are.[00:34:52] Hunger and emotional regulation.[00:38:30] Therapy misconceptions about men.[00:40:28] Controlling your inner world.[00:45:02] Men's emotional expression challenges.[00:48:34] Prison system and men's struggles.[00:52:36] Manipulation in the prison system.[00:54:40] Gameable heuristics and manipulation.[00:59:28] Tough love in masculine relationships.[01:02:00] Teaching children emotional resilience.[01:05:18] Natural consequences in parenting.[01:09:02] Ego states in emotional regulation.[01:12:35] Teaching psychology to everyone.[01:16:03] Differentiation and family enmeshment.[01:19:20] Adolescent parenting and boundaries.[01:22:59] Teaching Life Skills in Therapy.[01:26:25] Knowledge is for everyone.[01:29:45] Teaching beginners and mastery.ROGD REPAIR Course + Community gives concerned parents instant access to over 120 lessons providing the psychological insights and communication tools you need to get through to your kid.
