It allows you to draw THREE cards for THREE mana as long as target opponent also draws three cards. There are tons of political implications stapled to this card, which is what makes it so good! We're back for 2019! And so is preview season! That's right, it's time to take a look at the entire mess of new Ravnica Allegiance cards that have popped up since our last episode. We've got planeswalkers, four-power fliers, and...a mutant. Not any special kind of mutant. Not a Fish Crab Mutant or a Jellyfish Hydra Beast Mutant, just a mutant. He was made from the vat of forearm juice, apparently. Also at the end there's a brief explanation (more of a rant really) about what's happened to MTGCast. Finally! The voice of Franky has returned to LAL!!! Anyway, I think I may not worry about actual show notes as much. Thinking about doing them as more of a blog. Kind of curious who actually reads the show notes anyway. For the moment, I can mention that the charity events are still ongoing. Moving forward, there will be a distribution of 75% to the St Jude Childrens Hospital and 25% being donated to MTGCast. Commons are still being accepted by whatever means people deem fit. We have also had other things donated in the past which is completely appreciated as well. As for my personal Legacy activities, I am still making an effort over time to rebuild Merfolk. I was lucky enough to borrow a MUD deck from a really great guy which let me finish in 5th place to receive a small amount of store credit. I was then able to acquire a Mutavault and a Back to Basics so at the moment the Merfolk rebuild is at 2/75 cards. MUD is a cool deck and we may discuss it more on the cast in the future, but for now we went a little deeper into another deck that I find interesting. Dredge. We were lucky enough to be joined by the man, the myth, the legend, Franky Richard (@livewithfrank on Twitter). If for some reason you are unfamiliar with this man, I highly recommend searching back episodes for CrazyTalk. In the meantime, we hope your week goes by easily. In more of a contemporary “blog” type of reference, the legacy event held by SCG was today and got to meet and catch up with a lot of awesome guys from the facebook group. I tried to invite all out to dinner and a few of us did make it to the Brazilian Steakhouse. I am now at a 3/75 on the merfolk rebuild, thanks to Pat. Commons are still being donated as well as other magic merch to be transferred into cash donations to MTGCast and the St Jude Childrens Hospital. You guys are awesome. I even managed to walk the room after some side event drafts fired to collect commons. Goryo’s Vengeance still seems too high for me to want to dive back into tin-fins and I still seek to watch some prices come down a little on some merfolk cards until after modern dies down a bit. Hey Guys, Sorry about last week. We try to deliver something that can hopefully make your Monday go by just that much better, should you choose to listen, but I (Adrian) made an error early on in the cast that cost the whole episode to evaporate. Nevertheless, we have returned this week with the full trio as well as being joined by Evan and Andrew from Atlanta representing TeamTusk. These guys have been streaming their Legacy Events and have been getting everyone hyped up for them. You can check them out and watch their streams at www.twitch.tv/tuskvision We were also joined by another special guest, familiar with the fine cuisine in the Metro-Atlanta area. As for the fundraiser that some may have heard about (since Chewie mentioned it on The Mana Pool), we have been pooling together commons to bulk out and donating the proceeds. We weren’t looking for huge boxes. We were just looking for the rest of the pack you didn’t want in an envelope. What we have been doing is creating a donation where 50% will go to MTGCast and 50% will go to The Wounded Warrior Project. There are also auctions going on for an alternative way to assist. Currently a silent auction with blind bidding is going on for a lightning bolt serialized playmat from Providence signed by Christopher Rush. I (Adrian) am taking bids in direct message only on Twitter and Facebook. Feel free to get your bid submitted to me through either of those channels before the auction closes. Hold on… Is there someone missing??? Hmmm… Not sure, but I think so because the language seems cleaner. I wonder if it will still be labeled explicit. Well, maybe we will find out in the show notes… Hey Guys, Sorry I could not be there this week but Pat and Jerry managed to bring you the Legacy content you deserve for your Monday regardless. Hopefully I will be in attendance for the next episode, but in the meantime, we present to you, for your entertainment, episode 43. Also, since I could only get a scoop into the show notes this week, I have to scoop in Jared. I met him recently and he followed up with meeting up with me at TE to bring a couple boxes (yes, boxes) of commons. That leads me to mention how grateful I am for all the support you guys have offered. When we started doing the drive, I was just hoping some guys would mail in the rest of the pack that they opened, but you guys have stepped up to the plate in ways I hadn’t imagined. From playmat donations to commons being bulked, we have raised money and have been distributing to MTGCast and The Wounded Warrior Project. It is only from your contributions that it is even possible and it has led to being able to interact with some really great people. Hello World!!! Welcome to Episode 45 of Leaving A Legacy!!! I am not going to give much away in the show notes, partially because if you read it, why listen. Also partially because I just don’t fully remember. I think I am just going to use this as a chance to keep you up to date on what we may, or may not have covered. 1) The commons drive has been awesome! Thanks to all who have helped and are the reason why!!! 2) There is a current Blind auction going on for a Crucible of Worlds Playmat. I will place a link to the facebook group here where you can find it. The way a blind auction works is to submit a bid to me directly through a direct message, either through Facebook or through Twitter. Either method is Okay. The proceeds are being split in a 50/50 ratio with half going to MTGCast and half going to the Wounded Warrior Project. Enough about that. 3) It is pretty surprising but Pat pointed out the show number and we realized it has almost been a year. The coolest thing for me has definitely been the awesome people I have been able to interact with. Evan in Atlanta, Braden in Ontario and of course, Celso in Connecticut (Yeah Buddy!). The list goes on and on. Anyway, you can find us in the facebook group or on Twitter with… Adrian – @mathematrickste Jerry – @JMee3rd and Pat – @PatEuglow

In this episode, I’m talking to veteran pro player David Ochoa. Last spring, David appeared in his 100th Grand Prix. David is one of the best players in the game, and play tests with Luis Scot Vargas, Paul Cheon, Josh Utter-Leyton, and Matt Nass. David writes for Channel Fireball and tweets about food, especially breads and toasts. He also shares some tips on how to get better at Magic. Remember what David said, to get better, find a group of players, they’ll help you get better. And for newer players, find a great place to play Magic. Having fun in a nurturing environment will make all the difference. I want to thank Amie Bailey and Gerry Thompson for encouraging David to be a guest on the show. I met a lot of great people at GP Portland last summer in 2016. If you want to hear about how a GP is put on, listen to my interview with Tim Shields, Season 2 Episode 201. At that GP, I was also able to meet Cedric Phillips, Brian Braun-Duin, Christine Sprankle, and JC Tao in person, all of which have shared their stories on Kitchen Table Magic. I want to take a quick moment to tell you about my friend Brian and the Magic players at Paragon City Games in Draper Utah. Paragon City Games is an up and coming game store and they’re hosting giveaways every week on Twitch. They’re giving away lots of cool things, including Die Hard Metal Dice, which are die cast in Zinc and then electroplated with other metals. Todd makes them with care and craftsmanship. And because Paragon City Games really cares about building a community of Magic players locally in the Salt Lake City Area, they’re doing many things to give back to the player community. First, they’re streaming Tuesday night Legacy at 7 pm Mountain, which is 9pm Easter and 6pm Pacific at https://www.twitch.tv/ParagonCityGames Second, with the recent changes to Grand Prix Trails no longer being held at local game stores, Paragon City Games have decided to award travel vouchers to players at win GPTs at their events. That is a really awesome way for them to go the extra mile for the last few GPT events available to players in their local community. Please check out Paragon City Games’ Twitch stream every Tuesday night for giveaways. It’s an easy way to win some great stuff and watch Legacy. Links will be in the show notes at Kitchen Table Magic.org. I want to thank my new Patreon Supporter James! I surprised him the other night by showing up in person to deliver a bag of those Magic Fish Crackers Brad Rutherford and I were munching on in our deck tech of Abzan Company episode 205. A lot goes into making Kitchen Table Magic, I want to bring you stores from iconic figures in the MTG community that have never been told. I want you to know that every dollar you give through Patreon.com/KitchenTableMagic goes into making the show by paying for server costs, audio editing software, and equipment. And, if we meet our goals, I’m committed to rewarding my Patreon supporters with memorable gifts. I want to thank all of our Patreon supporters: Brian, Markus and James! Thanks to everyone for tuning in to this week’s show! I’m always here to chat and answer your questions. Email me: sam@kitchentablemagic.org I’m on Facebook.com/KitchenTableMagicPodcast and on Twitter @KTMpodcast That’s where you’ll find me photoshopping random things. The show is on iTunes, Google Play, Soundcloud, Stitcher, and MTG cast.com. And one more very important announcement! I want to congratulate MTGCast.com on their 11th birthday! If you don’t know MTGCast.com is an amazing service that brings together a ton of Magic podcasts for listeners. I’m so grateful to be a part of MTG Cast and I want to thank MTGCast for allowing me to share Kitchen Table Magic with everyone. Also, big thanks to the admins for their hard work maintaining the site and answering my stupid questions about how to post things.

In this week's episode, we sat down after a post-tournament pizza party and talked all sorts of Standard, Modern and milling. Matt's setting aside the 2/1's for 1 for some Esper control action. Dustin tries a wacky Chord of Calling deck trying to pay tribute to his beloved Birthing Pod. And James is playing Quickling again.   Our meta-topic this week is a fun one as we talk about milling and its appeal. We also get on the topic of Treasure Cruise because of course we do. We wrap up with required consumption and all sorts of shameless promotion. We also have a bit of a video announcement to make.   Required consumption links:   Dustin: blog.magicworldmarket.com/blog   Matt: http://www.amazon.com/Quest-Pro-Tour-Jamie-Wakefield-ebook/dp/B002B3XZ2O/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1416301506&sr=8-6&keywords=quest+for+the+pro+tour   James: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkEV5sjLyrQ   You can find Matt, James and Dustin on Twitter @mattmendoza, @mellishkimoMTG, and @dustinseth respectively. Follow 5 Color Media on Twitter and Instagram, like us on Facebook, all that @5colormedia. Send any long-form feedback to 5colormedia@gmail.com. Please leave us reviews on iTunes or comments on the episode cuz, you know, we like that sort of thing.   Also, we’re now on MTGCast.com, Stitcher, and Podbay! James is woefully absent in this week's episode, so Dustin and Matt try to pick up the slack. They're not as good at bad puns, but they're good at stretching a timeline. This week, on the heels of Grand Prix Los Angeles, it's all Standard all the time.    Dustin's required consumption is The Third Power podcast, a podcast about Cubing from Usman Jamil and Anthony Avitollo. You can find it every other week at mtgcast.com.   Matt's required viewing happens Saturday and Sunday when he streams Eternal Champions live from Philadelphia, PA. Tune in to twitch.tv/cardtitan!   You can find Matt, James and Dustin on Twitter @mattmendoza, @mellishkimoMTG, and @dustinseth respectively. "You are worth it, you are awesome, no one is doing anything wrong if they want to be with you." Before his transformation, musician Bill Boulden aka Spruke, was a wunderkind of sorts. An expert programmer and a budding musician, he was hampered by low self-esteem and self-hatred, the kind experienced by many of the last generation to feel nerd shame. Then, he became this wicked, confident, music-making, podcast host who is simultaneously crushing two very different careers? We talked at length about how music is science, programming is art, school is easy, and much, much more. His newest album Lies Synthpop Told Me is available on iTunes or wherever digital music is sold. And his electro-house podcast Bump in the Night hits MTGCast.com every Monday. As always, send feedback to me on Twitter @mattmendoza or via email acrossthetablecast@gmail.com. Also, please leave the podcast a review on iTunes, it helps get it out there. Follow the cast @acrossthecast for updates and new episodes.  And don't forget to leave me a comment on ManaDeprived.com! Thanks for listening!
