Muleys with Marc Smith and Jeremy Dugger Show Notes: Marc Smith, and Jeremy Dugger (AKA Muley Mojo) joined me at the Hunt Expo. We enjoyed the show and got to catch up on a bunch of good stuff. Marc moved out into the Four Corners area of New Mexico back in ‘94/'95 for his job, and he met Jeremy, who was working at the local archery shop. They immediately hit it off, and they've been a dynamic duo ever since. Marc and Jeremy share some stories from their hunts, and we kick off with a good one that shows how they split responsibilities between Jeremy's scouting and game eye and Marc's magnetic mule deer aura. We talk about whether or not game eye is a God-given gift or if it's something that can be developed with practice. The guys also share how their seamless teamwork helps them bring down big bucks. Jeremy gives some of his best scouting tips, why he's a fan of tracking over glassing, and some of the tools he uses to get the job done. We chat about why getting up in scoring takes away from what hunting's all about, how we feel about having to fill every tag we get, and Jeremy and Marc's epic “shining beams” story. In this Episode the Epic Outdoors Crew sits down and talks about their two favorite subjects, Guns and Hunting. We are pretty proud of the guns we use here at Epic, whether it be Fierce, Red Rock Precision or Thompson Long Range we only have good things to say. April and May are big months for a western hunter, with several application deadlines and draw results being released we know you're wearing your keyboards thin. How do we keep track of it all? Is there a better way to apply in multiple states for multiple species for your entire family? Of course there is! The Muleys Matter Giveaway has been growing fast since it was first mentioned a few weeks ago. In this episode we answer a lot of your questions regarding what and how to get entered. With thousands of dollars in prizes already donated and more being added every day, we believe it's well worth it to get your tag in the hat, and become apart of Muleys Matter. The Crew also talks about the ongoing discussion and controversy for the Utah DWR Mule Deer tag recommendations and permits.
In this episode Jason and Adam get together and talk about the topic on every hunters mind; SNOW! How's the wildlife faring? Is it worth it to apply this year? What states and areas should I be on the lookout for? All of this and more is answered on this weeks podcast! In this episode we talk about one of my favorite topics: hunting mule deer in open country. We look forward to these hunts and since the tags can be so hard to draw, we want to arm ourselves with the right gear and the right mindset. What are the things we are looking for on an aerial photo? What are we looking for at a water hole? How far do big bucks bed from their water? Where are they right now and how to separate them from the mountain mahogany or the sage brush with a spotting scope or a good binocular? This is it folks! This is deer season and these tags are getting harder to draw. Hunt mule deer and you will come to respect this animal. It's a big game of chess and you only have a few days to get the pieces in place to put the king in your sights.
