Send us Fan MailA sea lion the size of a small car starts lunging at people in a Southeast Alaska harbor and the town has to make a call. I'm joined by Brandon Ware out of Petersburg, Alaska, and he walks me through the full story of two aggressive male sea lions that were “terrorizing” the docks, stalking people, and creating a real risk for kids and dogs in a working marina packed with boats. Before we get to the action, we slow down and get the context right: what Southeast Alaska is like day to day, why Petersburg is such a commercial fishing hub, and what waterfowl hunting looks like up there, from sea ducks and diver ducks to geese and even big sandhill crane migrations. Then Brandon breaks down Steller sea lion biology in a way that's hard to forget: 1,500 to 2,500 pounds on the big end, heavy scarring from fighting, massive teeth, and a bite force that can change how you think about “marine mammals.”From there, we talk wildlife management and the legal reality under the Marine Mammal Protection Act, including how Alaska Native subsistence and cultural harvest works. Brandon shares what went wrong with these particular sea lions, why non-lethal efforts didn't solve it, what it's like taking careful shots inside city limits, and the chaotic challenge of retrieving a 2,000-pound animal with a crane when a line snaps and the whole plan goes sideways. We also dig into the “why” behind aggression, including signs of sickness, parasites, and the dangerous pattern that starts when people feed wild animals. If you care about hunting ethics, conservation, and real-world safety around wildlife, this one's for you. Subscribe, share it with a hunting buddy, and leave a review with your take: where's the line between protection and necessary management?Check us out on Facebook Hunts On Outfitting, or myself Ken Marr. Mountain lions are recently one of the more debated predators in Texas, and few people have spent as much time observing them on the ground as this week's guest, Brandt Buchanan. For the past decade, Brandt has closely monitored mountain lion activity while managing ranches in west Texas, giving him a unique perspective on their behavior, distribution, and impact on wildlife. In this episode, we discuss his experience with Texas mountain lions, how they impact other game populations, and some of the biggest misconceptions surrounding these apex predators. We also dive into the current state of mountain lion management in Texas and why Brandt believes mandatory harvest reporting is a critical step toward gathering better data and making informed wildlife management decisions. Whether you're a hunter, landowner, wildlife manager, or simply interested in one of Texas' most fascinating predators, this episode offers an honest, boots-on-the-ground conversation about mountain lions and the future of their management in the Lone Star State.Fall Obsession Podcast is sponsored by:Hoot Camo Company (https://hootcamo.com/) - use code "fallobsession15" to save with HootBear River Archery (https://www.bearriverarchery.com/) - use code "fallobsession" when shopping online with Bear RiverTactacam Reveal Cameras (https://www.tactacam.com/)The Outdoor Call Radio App (https://www.theoutdoorcallradio.com/)

There are plenty of Conservation issues earning local and national spotlights, but what is happening right now behind the curtain in Texas may not be discussed enough. Sam returns for a live solo show with a lot on the agenda. Often covering conservation topics in other States, he takes this opportunity to share a concerning look behind the curtain in his home State of Texas. While both residents and non-residents may believe everything is running just fine in the Lone Star State, there is no doubt specific people are pushing into certain positions which hold the influence to begin chipping away with an anti-hunting agenda. Additionally, Sam talks about the perception of hunting bears and predators, and what true conservation looks like. This is a very educational episode, and one that every hunter (and certainly Texans) should listen to. The hunting world faces scrutiny everyday. We face a constant battle with anti hunters who are looking to take away our passion. If you are a hunter, then you know that the outdoors speak to you. There is a deep respect when you take the life of an animal, whether it is an animal you have been chasing for years, you are just trying to feed your family, or it is an experience you are searching for, it just means more to us than the average person. Currently, there is a battle taking place in Oregon to not only ban hunting, but to ban fishing and a way of life for thousands of people. We are back on the Wildlife Conservation Battlefield for this episode with one of our own team members, Colorado Resident John Kesler. Colorado is continually in the spotlight when it comes to hunter's rights, extreme anti-hunting agendas and frequent attacks on science based wildlife management. Once again, new actions are coming down the pipe in Colorado to include several that would be a continuation of current anti-hunting agendas, while others have their benefits for hunters and anglers. John discusses the 6 citizen petitions that will be going to the commission, along with a significant ballot measure that would give Colorado a Constitutional Right to Hunt and Fish. There's some tricky wording sneaking into some of these matters which Residents should be mindful of. We unpack all of this and more in this episode. When it comes to hunting, whether it's elk hunting, turkey hunting, duck hunting, or deer hunting, the biggest commonality of us all is the drive for success. As hunters, we all want to succeed and punch or tags. However for some hunters, it is a challenge for others it comes naturally. Some guys are just killers, putting in the right amount of time, not chilling on their phone in the stand, and always out in the field. AI is no longer a future topic in mortgage lending. It is the force separating the companies that adapt from the ones that get outpaced. In this episode of the FinTech Hunting Podcast, Michael Hammond sits down with Jim Deitch, Co-Founder and CEO of Tera Verde, to talk about the hard truth facing mortgage leaders right now:AI is either coming to you or coming for you. This is not a surface-level conversation about shiny tools or hype.Jim breaks down what AI disruption really means for the mortgage industry, why speed matters more than ever, how weak workflows get exposed faster, and why leaders who fail to rethink process, profitability, and customer experience will lose ground to competitors who do. The episode centers on AI as a present-day competitive force in lending, not a distant trend. You'll hear a sharp conversation on:why AI is changing how mortgage companies competewhy faster technology does not fix broken operationshow AI can improve decision-making, customer experience, and efficiencywhat lenders need to rethink before the market shifts againwhy leadership mindset may be the real differentiator in the next era of mortgage lendingJim is also the author of Disruptive AI, a book that challenges leaders to decide whether AI will become their advantage or their threat. Ryan brings up archaeological discoveries and artifacts that seem out of place or out of time, opening the door to a discussion about ancient technology, unexplained objects, and the mysteries that continue to challenge mainstream timelines. Kyle also breaks down lessons he learned from Kent Hovind and others on Noah's Flood, flood geology, fossil formation, and the debate surrounding biblical evidence, sediment layers, and catastrophic events in Earth's past. The team also reflects on a powerful Easter Sunday sermon that explored the science, historical evidence, and proof surrounding Jesus, faith, and the resurrection. On top of that, the crew tackles the question of what fossil fuels really are, including oil, coal, and natural gas, and how they are believed to form from ancient organic matter deep within the Earth. They also react to a shocking new penalty for scammers in Singapore, discuss sunken treasure and who has the legal right to claim it, and bring their usual mix of humor, curiosity, debate, and real conversation to every topic. From desserts and candy to archaeology, Christianity, Noah's Flood, fossil fuels, treasure law, and world news, this episode covers a little bit of everything. As a hunter, especially bow hunter, a western hunt needs to be on your bucket list. At least once in your hunting career you need to watch the sunrise in the mountains, experience walking the terrain with you bow in hand, and hear the sound of an elk bugle rip through the wilderness. However, when it comes to hunting out west, if you are not prepared it can be brutal. Most hunters going out west for the first time may not have the right gear or have not physically prepared for the challenge. On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we have taken our western hunting experience and have created a western hunting essentials guide! We breakdown how the points system works for tags, what gear you will need, and how to physically prepare for your hunt!Discount Codes: You guys have been absolutely amazing when it comes to supporting Raised Hunting so we wanted to return the favor! If you have hunted long enough, there are a few skeletons buried in your closet. There as ghosts that sit in the back of your mind that always make you wonder, "what if". For most hunters, those ghosts are the big bucks that you have had years of history with. For other hunters, it may be a new buck that has showed up and you only got one crack at. Either way, there are animals that still haunt us season after season. On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we shed some light on the biggest ghost in Raised Hunting history, including one long beard that ended up getting the best of ole David! In the world of hunting, there are many lessons to be learned. Whether its sports, school, your job, or even parenting, we can learn our biggest lessons from our mistakes. Jut like everything else, hunting is no different. Our biggest lessons we learn come from steps we take in the field, the prep work in every season, but the true lessons come from the shots we take. On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we are breaking down all the lessons that we have learned from the animals we have wounded and how that has shaped our hunting careers.Discount Codes: You guys have been absolutely amazing when it comes to supporting Raised Hunting so we wanted to return the favor! Colorado's Commercial Fur Ban, Oregon's IP28, Idaho's SB1300, the Congressional Review Act... everywhere you look factual, science-based wildlife and resource management is under attack. In this episode, Sam sits down to talk about what is currently riding in the hot seat of conservation in 2026, and what outdoors men and women need to be focusing on. Sam talks about the upcoming CPW commission meeting during which a citizen petition for a fur ban will be presented and the impacts this could have on hunting and trapping. He discusses the Oregon "Peace Act' which would effectively make hunting, fishing and even raising livestock in Oregon illegal. SB1300 in Idaho could put control of the Fish and Game department in the wrong hands. And of course Congress continuing to overstep using the CRA puts land and wildlife at risk. This is not a time to relax, this is a time to engage. The fight for conservation is a constant fight, and no one else is coming to our rescue.
