A lot of people that we now call stars, were once background singers and backup dancers. If you listen to some of your favorite songs or watch some videos you'll recognize some voices and faces that you may have never noticed before. But not all of these stories have a superstar ending. A lot of people were able to carve out solid and recognizable careers, even if they weren't household names. You definitely remember them, though. That's what we're discussing on this episode, some of your favorite hook singers like Tammy Lucas, Vinia Mojica and LaToiya Williams, as well as video and tour dancers like Oaktown's .357 (MC Hammer), Str8 Ahead (Bell Biv DeVoe) and Hot Dog (Chubb Rock). Hi! I'm back! I missed you. Did you miss me? Well it's a completely different show now, and I can't wait to share more with you. Tiffany McNeil is the coolest brand, innovation, and insights exec you'll ever meet. Tiffany and I worked together at Del Monte Foods way back in 2010 (!) on the consumer insights and strategy team, specifically consumer food innovation for baby boomers. This was the perfect conversation to kick things off. Here's what we cover: Let's first define consumer insights and strategy in B2C; When I came over to B2B from B2C, there was no customer research, insights, or strategy that came from that work. It was super strange. So naturally, I just did the work. What is the work; Why is consumer insights important? How does this carry over to B2B; What's new in consumer insights that's shaping the industry; What do you still find challenging with consumer research; Tiffany asks me her burning question. The Oakland Athletics put on an otherworldly display of offense and power over the course of July, led by prospective Players of the Month, Brent Rooker and Lawrence Butler. Many of the offensive feats accomplished by the A's hadn't been seen in years, if not decades. The surge in production led the team to their first winning month since 2021.Sitting 12 games back with two months to play, in baseball's weakest division, the insane sad little A's fan inside of us can't help but wonder... is there a chance? Dan and Cory discuss the final week of the first half, as well as the happenings from the All Star break, and look ahead to the second half. The major highlight was an eight home run outburst to take a series win against Philadelphia, with three coming from Lawrence Butler alone. Additionally Mason Miller showed his stuff in the All-Star game by striking out Shohei Ohtani during a scoreless inning of work. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Things are getting ugly quick for the Oakland A's. They've now lost six series in a row after losing 2 of 3 to the Blue Jays and getting swept by the Padres. The frustrating part is their starting pitching is keeping them in virtually every game. Luckily Tyler Soderstrom has provided one of the few bright spots by getting hot at the plate. Dan and Cory discuss the recent A's vs Braves series where the good guys managed to rough up Chris Sale, who has otherwise been untouchable this year. Now back home, the Green and Gold are working on getting back on track against the Mariners. Joey Estes was up for the task on Wednesday night, delivering 6 perfect innings, leading to a 2-1 victory over Seattle. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
At long last the 8 game winning streak ended with a series victory over the Rockies at home. It was the lone bright spot during an otherwise tumultuous two weeks for the Green and Gold. They lost every other series they played, but some of the games ended in tight, dramatic fashion. There is hope yet as perhaps the new guy, Miguel Andujar, can spark a winning month of June. May has been very gray to the A's. Just when things were looking up, fresh off of a 6 game win streak, the wheels have come off. Pitchers are going down with injuries left and right, the defense has forgotten how to make fundamental plays, and to add to the frustration, the offense has finally found life. The team starts off the week staying hot with a series win over the Marlins before heading to Texas and dropping three of four to the Rangers in a hard-fought series. The boys discuss who has been performing well on offense and who could be playing better on defense (and pitching better), as well as looking forward to a week of travel up to Seattle to face the Mariners and then back to Texas to face the Astros for four. The Miami Marlins and their season-high three-game win streak hopped off the plane in Oakland riding all kinds of momentum into this weekend series in Oakland. Unfortunately, their hot bats did not make the trip, at least for the opener, as they lost 3-1. The A's did just enough on offense for lefty JP Sears (2-2), who pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings- allowing just four hits- and won for the first time in four starts. Vidal Brujan had three hits and an RBI for the Marlins, who were without hot-hitting second baseman Luis Arraez, who has reportedly been traded to the San Diego Padres. Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers (2-3) was lit up for three runs on five hits and struck out five with no walks over six innings. Brent Rooker hit a two-run home run for Oakland. The A's are 16-17 on the season. They lost 112 games last year, and didn't win their 16th game until late June. The two teams resume their three-game series tomorrow in Oakland, with first pitch set for 4:07pm. We will be 'LIVE' right after the game with our Locked On Marlins POSTCAST.This is the last series the Marlins will play in the Oakland Coliseum. The A's will play in Sacramento for two years before moving to Las Vegas in 2028.
Dan and Cory recap the action after the A's got swept in Cleveland and managed a gutsy series split of a four game set in the Bronx. They recall how Zack Gelof and Mason Miller came through in clutch moments in New York, and discuss ways the team has both excelled and disappointed thus far. Learn more about your ad choices. Dan and Cory discuss the series versus St. Louis, including Sonny Gray's final Coliseum start, and a couple of tough losses before the offense woke up and took game three. They break down how the pitching and defense is surprisingly great as of late, and while the offense has shown signs of coming around, there is still a long way to go before other teams will cower in fear. This episode was recorded as game two against the Yankees on June 28th played out. Little did we know that Domingo German was spinning a gem, the 24th perfect game in major league history, to be exact. But Dan and Cory don't want to talk about that anyway. Instead they discuss the series loss in Toronto and highlight Ruiz's pursuit of an 80 stolen base season. Boy are things getting weird in Oakland! Cory and Dan continue to narrate the strange emotional rollercoaster this season has become. No longer the owner of the worst record in baseball, the Oakland Athletics are hot and playing great baseball for the first time all year. No need to look for silver linings this week, as it is all good news on the field. The reverse boycott game was a major success, and was a wonderful opportunity for fans to let out frustrations as well as enjoy one of the most exciting games of the season. Keep your heads high, A's fans. There is a lot more to root for now then there was a few weeks ago. The 2023 Oakland Athletics have won their second series of the season. We repeat, the A's have won another series! It wasn't against any shmucks either, this was against the Atlanta Braves, who not only won the whole thing recently, but have made a habit of stealing some of our favorite players. Cory and Dan discuss two of the best players on the team lately, JP Sears and Ryan Noda. They also talk about who could be the lone all star representative this year. The bad trip of a baseball season continues as nothing goes right for the A's this week, both on and off the field. All are welcome to commiserate with Dan and Cory during this dreary week for A's fans. Not only do the A's keep finding new ways to lose, but now we are faced with the reality that they may be moving out of town. The guys look for reasons to be optimistic, but also understand the gravity of the situation. Thanks for nothing Dave Kaval. Despite this, the big league club keeps on trying to shuffle personnel in order to find a winning recipe. Guys like Brent Rooker, Mason Miller, and now Luis Medina could offer some silver linings to an otherwise tough time for Oakland fans. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Another rough week went by seeing the A's walk a record 17 batters, and give up a season high 20 hits, on separate occasions. Dan and Cory discuss the bright spots in an otherwise dreary period of baseball. One such bright spot is Brent Rooker who has seemingly figured out how to mash major league pitching, and another is hard throwing Mason Miller is on his way to save the day from AAA. How many ways can you lose a baseball game, you ask? Let the Oakland Athletics show you. You can play terrible defense, seemingly not even try, and give up the most homeruns in the league. The good news is, no matter how bleak it gets, Dan and Cory are here to commiserate with you. The boys discuss the atrocious Rays series, and game 1 of the four game set with Baltimore. Kevin Smith has made it back up from AAA. Let's hope his hot bat rubs off on everyone. Head above water folks (hopefully). Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Dan and Cory recap the A's vs Guardians series, which resulted in lots of late inning stress and unfortunately only one victory. Two sad extra inning losses were offset by one exciting Tony Kemp walk-off hit in the ninth of game two. The A's bullpen continues to pull its weight, and JP Sears, and Kyle Muller looked the part as starters. Still too many errors prevented the A's from coming out on top.
Dan and Cory discuss the opening series versus Slegna (aka the Angels). For a glorious 36 hours the A's were on top of the baseball world celebrating a 2-1 victory over Shohei Ohtani. What happened next was unfortunate. Shintaro Fujinami's debut was spoiled by an 11 run third inning by the bad guys. Finally in game three of the series Shohei and Trout went back to back to take a commanding lead. The Oakland Athletics now sit 1-2 and look to get back to .500 against the incoming Guardians.
Spring has sprung and another A's baseball season is upon us! Dan and Cory share exciting new about joining FFSN, discuss the many intriguing performances from Spring Training, and dive deep into what the opening day roster will look like. Spoiler alert, we were wrong about Cristian Pache making the team. Despite what many pundits around the league might say, there are glimmers of hope for A's fans this year.
