Men färjan dyker aldrig upp. Och snart kommer rapporter om märkliga ljusfenomen över Arizona och New Mexico. Ljusfenomen som en gång var en rymdfarkost.Detta är berättelsen om Columbia-katastrofen. The Bay closed. Frank and Oak shuttered. Insolvencies have been climbing for years and the narrative everyone's repeating is that retail is in trouble. David Lui has a different read. Retail isn't dying. The operating model is. And the brands going under aren't the ones customers stopped loving, they're the ones whose people, product, and place stopped working. As CEO of Kit & Ace and co-founder of Unity Brands, David is doing almost the exact opposite of what you'd expect. He's buying beloved Canadian brands that almost didn't make it, and he's opening stores. In this episode, Marc and V sit down with David, a former colleague from their Canadian Tire days, to unpack what changes when a marketer crosses over to the P&L seat. We get into why every store opening is a bigger marketing spend than any ad campaign, the P's most marketers consistently underrate, what David learned scaling Korite into China through live-streaming when North America wasn't ready for it, why he calls his stores billboards, and the metric he ignored as a CMO that he refuses to take his eyes off as a CEO.If you've ever defended a budget, sat through a quarterly review, or wondered why a brand you loved quietly disappeared, this one's for you.Timestamps00:00 Cold open and intro: the Canadian retail paradox03:34 David's origin: Hong Kong factories and a counselor who got it wrong10:25 Canadian Tire days and the move to Mark's15:11 Selling Korite in China: live-streaming before North America was ready19:51 Kit & Ace's origin story and the DNA Unity Brands kept22:32 Building the Unity Brands portfolio: Tilley, Mastermind, and operational synergy28:02 From marketer to operator: the P&L reframe30:23 Why every store opening is the single largest marketing spend33:08 The P's marketers underrate: people and place35:06 The metric David ignored as a CMO and refuses to lose as a CEO40:34 Premium positioning and why fast fashion is fading43:36 What the next Canadian challenger brand has to get right46:24 Where Canadian retail is headedAbout DavidDavid Lui, CEO, Kit & Ace; Co-founder, Unity BrandsLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidymlui/Kit & Ace: kitandace.comTilley: tilley.comMastermind Toys: mastermindtoys.com

Is Europe a graveyard for the Gospel, or fruitful soil for its future? In today's episode of The Walk, Dr. John Snyder sits down with Mike Tilley of ICC Eurasia for a deep-dive on the shifting spiritual landscape of the European continent. For decades, the narrative has been one of decline—a “post-Christian” museum of empty cathedrals. But from his vantage point, Mike sees something else entirely: a second wind of the Holy Spirit moving through cultural crossroads that most leaders have overlooked. This conversation moves beyond anecdotal success stories, providing a real-life, strategic look at how the Gospel is taking root in secular soil. Mike shares his journey from a secular upbringing to shepherding pastors across Eurasia, offering practical advice on how to lead with confidence when tradition is no longer the tailwind. Whether you are a corporate leader or a local pastor, this episode is a guide to prioritizing relationship over religion in the world's most influential crossroads.

Today we tell not one but two stories, both involving the same community in Fannin County, Georgia. In 1864 two men, brothers-in-law Elisha Stanley and Evan Hughes, became the victims of a gang of violent bushwhackers who terrorized the area during the Civil War, leaving their families to pick up the pieces. Forty years later, in 1906, the Tilley Bend massacre occurred in the same area, causing a local woman, Elizabeth Bradley, known as a "Granny Woman" and healer, to place a curse on the community, in the process creating what may be the most well-known bit of Appalachian folklore in that part of Georgia. If you enjoy our stories, be sure to subscribe to our podcast on your favorite podcast app. If you'd like an ad-free version of the podcast and other extras, like unreleased episodes and other content, go to our podcast host, Spreaker, and become a supporter of the Stories podcast! Thanks for listening

Marty Tilley, author of Grasping for Spiritual Sight, shares her journey from vivid, prophetic dreams to powerful spiritual revelations that transformed her life. During the pandemic, her dreams became deeply spiritual, prompting her to begin a two-year practice of dream journaling. Through this process, she discovered patterns, warnings, and messages that often mirrored real-world events. Her book explores these experiences, showing how visions, spiritual sensitivity, and faith can guide preparation rather than fear. Marty's stories reveal spiritual warfare, courage in the face of uncertainty, and the importance of listening to God's guidance. In the episode, Marty shares how Grasping for Spiritual Sight came together from over 300 journaled dreams, organized into themes including personal revelations, fulfilled visions, and prophecies. She discusses how these dreams helped her overcome fear, gain courage, and take bold steps, such as writing her first book and engaging with readers. Marty also reflects on how her experiences with near-death moments, lifelong faith, and spiritual discernment shaped her perspective and purpose. She emphasizes that the book is not about fear or doom but about recognizing God's guidance, living with intention, and responding to life's challenges with courage and faith. Quotes: “It all began during COVID. My dreams turned spiritual, as if I was receiving a message, and I had to pay attention.” “So many of my dreams were warnings about spiritual warfare… but the message is not to fear. We are meant to act with courage and faith.” “Every word in my book is true, and I hope people can learn to listen to their own small voice, whether dream or whisper.” Resources: Grasping for Spiritual Sight is available on Amazon Discover more of Marty's insights and spiritual guidance

The Color Cult by John Martin Tilley https://www.amazon.com/Color-Cult-John-Martin-Tilley/dp/1837942250 When Daniel Smith sets out on a crime-as-performance-art spree (known as the "Crime Artist" around town for blowing up cans of paint in bank vaults) fueled in part by the sudden death of his mother (who revisits him, spitefully, as a ghost), he never expects to be forcefully joined by two adherents to his youthful idealist cause: Zach, a sharply honest androgynous blonde, and Lucy, an insouciant voluptuous beauty. On the run from the police as well as from the aching doldrums of life in Lincoln, Nebraska, the three are determined to "change the world" by expanding on Daniel's original series of art crimes. A folksy cast of characters brings together a surrealist romp of a book that toys with questions of art and life, humor and sex, beauty and the absurd. It's a snowstorm, it's a rainbow riot, it's a blazing mad costume party. Read it, if you dare.
