He worked there for six years, and during that time he achieved his degree in mechanical engineering, his master's degree in maintenance engineering, and he started his first leadership role as a project manager in 2009. After leaving Liverpool in 2011, he has worked in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London where he currently lives. Tom became a chartered engineer in 2013, and is a mentor for new and upcoming engineers working towards their chartership. Working in these different cities he had remained within the rail industry and led different types of engineering teams, learning and practicing different leadership styles. See below video and thoughts on 4 concrete ways to practice being yourself…it may just help you find lasting happiness… Overview: There are countless examples on how you might practice embracing who you are and being yourself. Below are just three examples you might consider: 1. Embrace a new job that may be different than what others expect from us. Perhaps the job is even in a new city or a new country and we might feel afraid that we won't be accepted. At a minimum, you'd learn a lot about the new region and may even find yourself enjoying the new city and culture even more than your previous home. Oscar Wilde left Ireland and Britain after being released from hard labor in prison and found happiness in France. 2. Go on that date you're hesitant about because, after all, the only thing you have to lose is an hour of your time and you could gain a lifelong friend or partner. You might even use Bumble to find friends and business connections, as we analyzed in a previous post on the best social media companies today. 3. Take that vacation while you're still healthy. Time is working against us all and one of the many lessons from 2020 might be to “not wait for tomorrow what can be done today” since the future is always uncertain. 4. Think of another idea unique to you. Think hard.
