Part 2 of our fabulous interview with Graydancer covers all things Ropecast, his incredibly long-running and early podcast all about rope bondage (can you believe it was one of the first 200 podcasts IN EXISTENCE! For perspective the Rope Podcast is now one of 2.4million out there!). Gray is a vivid and detailed storyteller and it's fascinating to hear about such a core part of rope history. This episode explores: • The origin story of the Ropecast • Building connections in the rope world • Reflected knowledge and fame • Unexpected kindnesses and benefits his podcast was able to bring to rope people • Creating an oral history of the rope scene • ‘Have you seen these episodes?' a plea from Gray • Dealing with backlash when you're visible in the community • Some fascinating reflections on how the rope scene and our understanding of rope have changed over time • What he's creating these days Graydancer got into rope bondage back at the turn of the millenium, when rope was 10 cents a foot. He started a podcast about bondage in 2005, and taught, performed, and organized events around rope until 2019, traveling throughout North America and Europe. In 2007 he organized the first of over 100 rope open-spaces (aka “GRUE”), and in 2016 with the help of friends put on the first “ROPECRAFT” event. He also worked to improve consent practices throughout the community. He is firmly bi-kinky as he loves polished leather just as much as tight rope. Currently he has retired from teaching and organizing kink, enjoying drawing pinups, lettering dirty words, and cigars, boots, and chocolate.
Roger is back in the studio to tackle the topic of Donald Trump's use of twitter together with RoPeCast technician Chris. Roger presents some interesting studies and analyses that show how Trump's usage of the social internet platform has evolved over time. Join them now and listen in! February 5, 2005 was the first time the Ropecast hit the internets, and what a long strange ride it’s been! Gray picks out one lesson for every year and extemporizes on it - do you agree? Disagree? Let us know! This episode was brought to you courtesy of Twisted Monk (http://twistedmonk.graydancer.com) and Lee Allure (http://facebook.com/SpiralEyeSoap) as well as listeners like you contributing through http://patreon.com/graydancer .
Roger's explanation of the finer points of the current Brexit situation continues. Today Peter will get an answer to his question from last episode: He'll finally get to know what the so-called "backstop" is actually about and why so many Brits consider it problematic. Now the RoPeCast team is holding their breath for tomorrow's parliamentary decision.
After two busy but not overly productive months, the RoPeCast tech departments sends out apologies for a delay in production and some issues with the MP3 podlog. Roger and Peter wish you a pleasant and relaxing festive season.
Gray gives a kind of "State-of-the-Ropecast" update, explaining why August was such a dry month and where and how his travels will help make September the opposite. He also talks about some of the burnout he's feeling with kink, and the ways he's fighting it by embracing the role of kink historian. YOU can win a $40 Gift Card for Twisted Monk! Details in the podcast. We start Episode 16 with a brief update on our lives and a new format for the show. Then, we have a discussion with Megan Guza about her article, "Condoms Criminalized in Allegheny County Prostitution Cases," where she reports on the way that condoms have been criminalized in prostitution cases, putting sex workers at risk. We also talk about the work that we did with SWOP Pittsburgh to challenge these practices. Finally, we talk to Graydancer, a writer, sex and kink presenter, and host of the Ropecast. We discuss kink education and the impact FOSTA/SESTA will have on the kink community.
“Mindfulness”, “Awareness”, “Connection” – these are all words that are used a lot in the rope bondage community. This class goes beyond the buzzwords and into practical ways that your rope scenes can be hotter, safer, and taken “next level” (wherever that is for you). Combining Naiia’s woo with Graydancer’s skepticism the class includes meditation techniques, the value of checklists, leveraging power exchange into your rope bondage, and the dangers of habit. They will also provide demonstrations of rope rituals that have and haven’t worked for them and provide you with the tools to create and adapt your own. Closing out the year, Gray talks about some hard lessons learned during POC Listening Sessions. Then he answers a listener question: how do you get out of a slump when you're tying? Gray starts out by revealing the secret location of the "lost episodes" of the Ropecast: http://ropecastarchive.graydancer.com Then things get serious when he answers a question put to him at the Philly GRUE: "How would you respond to a false accusation of consent violation?" He talks about the advantages a kinkster can have using the SUDO app (iPhone only, sorry) to create identities that don't make you vulnerable. You can even tell him what you think at kinksexculture@sudomail.com ! Finally he lightens things up with the song that he sang during the Mythchievous performance at Fusion 2017. You can get the track in MP3 playable version at http://patreon.com/graydancer by pledging $1 or more towards the support of this podcast. This is a very special episode for three reasons: ▸ First of all, it's our 100th. ▸ Then its the first that we have video-taped in front of a live audience. ▸ And lastly, it's special because we received an award. What award that is and how to translate the respective terminology into English is our topic for this RoPeCast. We also want to thank our listeners new and old for subscribing to us and following our show in the last years! And of course, stay tuned for more ...
Roger and Peter are glad to welcome you to a new year of RoPeCast and English learning opportunities. To start off with, they make another new year's resolution concerning tips for teachers. Peter then starts with a tip for people into training their own or their students' presentation skills: When it comes to rhetoric, watch and learn from president Obama! Obama's farewell address A prime example of his brilliance as an orator. An annotated transcript of the speech If you want more detailed information.
Gray talks about how having a cape (or some other form of The Reveal) can both spice up your scenes and even enrich your relationships. He also talks about the upcoming "Ropewalker's Roundtable", hosted by Diamond Blue, which was just added to the Ropecraft class list. He also shocks the world by announcing the End of the Ropecast! This podcast will be called "Graydancer's Ropecast" from now on, as we continue to cover subjects beyond (but not excluding!) rope bondage. This podcast is made possible KarmaRope.com and TwistedMonk.com . You should let them know you appreciate their support of this podcast by buying their stuff. You can also support the podcast directly by signing up to be a patron at http://patreon.com/ropecast - we're especially trying to get funds so that we can transcribe the consent podcasts and make them more easily accessible!
Gray brings some sad news to the Ropecast as we lost a member of our community. MoonlightShadow also gave follow-up information about how to care for rope, which has led Naiia to add "ropewalker" to the service roles she does for Gray. This podcast ...
Finally it is done! And yes, this episode's title is quoting the second installment of the Matrix, but it is also meant literally: After LOADs of work in the last months we've managed to shift RoPeCast into a new era. We have RE-upLOADed all existing episodes to YouTube and also to this re-established 'classic' MP3 podcast. In this episode we celebrate the occasion with some guest in the studio, and we are finally back with revamped looks, all new episodes and - of course - entirely new topics. Listen in to learn more ... RoPeCast on YouTube Try also the video illustrating what is being said!
For a change of pace, this episode features a piece of erotica written by Ropecast fan and patron, Sanger. It's kind of a preview of the class that Naiia and GRay are teaching at Bondage Expo Dallas, called LEATHER and Rope. Along with a generous support of our patrons, this episode was brought to you by rope. twistedview.com and MOcoJute.com as well as the generous support of bastardropes.com.
Tifereth, who wrote a controversial essay about consent in the rope community, comes on the Ropecast to talk about the need for safe spaces to have constructive discussions about consent issues. "I do advocate for opening up the conversation to include non-judgemental discussion on consent errors so we may learn from our consent mistakes, because chances are you're going to make one. Preferably off the internet, because there be trolls." This is part of a three-part series on consent. This is all made possible by my sponsors, Moco Jute, Karma Rope and Bastard Ropes, and especially this month with Twisted View, who has created some special reinforced up-line rope! This is an interview with three wonderful people, Rocket, Blissy, and ProfCedar. I was curious to know how their poly relationship intersects with their rope bondage. There are some surprising benefits and challenges, useful whether you're poly, ropey, or not! This is all made possible by my sponsors, Karma Rope and Bastard Ropes! By special request from a listener, Gray interviews Lizard, a teacher, performer, and stellar rope-bondage enthusiast. From her bio: "Lizard has been active in the DC/Baltimore area for the last four years. She began tying at a local rope share group known as the Knotting Circle, and has since had the privilege of learning from some of the most influential rope artists around the world. Lizard aspires to be a lifelong student of rope. She gathers knowledge from teachers, peers, and most notably from the people she ties along her journey. She describes her style of rope as one which favors structural simplicity, adaptability, fluidity, and connection over traditional aesthetics. As an educator, Lizard has been involved in rope share groups such as DC Rope, The Knotting Circle, and NARIX. This year, she has begun teaching classes at local events such as Rope Mecca." This is all made possible by my sponsors, Karma Rope and Bastard Ropes! Gray talks to several veterans of the "Ropenspace" concept about their experiences both attending and organizing them. Based on "Open Space" principles, the Ropenspace creates an environment where people learn and share what they are truly passionate about for rope. It's been done in San Francisco, Maryland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, and will be part of Austin's ROPECRAFT event February 21, 2016. The crew talk about how it works, why it works, and why you - yes, you - should come to it! This is all made possible by my sponsors, Karma Rope and Bastard Ropes! Please let them know you appreciate their support of this podcast by buying their stuff - or at least telling them they're cute! We also keep the Ropecast fires burning through the direct patronage of listeners like you - so sign up to be a patron! Special thanks to Bernie for some treats from Japan!
Freshly back from traveling to FAPCON2 and Beyond Vanilla, Gray is surprised to find that his ranting about using ice to treat bondage-related injuries is not as relevant as he thought (thanks, Shay!). He also talks about great classes from Tifereth, Frozen Merseaut, Aeolis Est, and Master George and Slave Bren. There is a bit about puppies & monksaks, too. You'll have to forgive Gray for then talking a bit about the excitement of planning ROPECRAFT, but it really is going to be great. If you haven't got tickets yet, pre-sale prices end on October 31, so get them while you can! This episode brought to you by Moco Jute and the generous Ropecast patrons!
Erotic humiliation play. It’s mainstream enough to be in box-office smash hits but taboo enough that some of the kinkiest players hesitate to even talk about it. Enough to Make You Blush separates the rumors from the facts and explains why some people think being completely awful is absolutely wonderful. - EnoughToMakeYouBlush.com Princess Kali, creator of powerhouse BDSM education site "Kink Academy" and innovative adult sex ed "PassionateU.com" comes to the Ropecast talking about the topic of erotic humiliation. Gray got a preview of her upcoming book, and he talks with her about the many ways that this kind of play fits perfectly in the rope community - possibly in ways that might surprise you! No topic is too taboo in this discussion, and if you have followup questions send them to Gray for followup interviews!
Rope artist. Photographer. Teacher. Occasional StormTrooper. "Sexy Boots on the Ground" for the upcoming Baltimore GRUE. These are all part of who RiggerJay is...and that's because he's very careful about what he shares on the web about his passion. In this interview we talk with him about why internet privacy is important, what we can do about it, why "the MeatList" was all kinds of sucky but not a hack...in short, if you are kinky and online, you owe it to yourself to listen to this podcast.
Gray returns to L.A. and the welcoming arms of the Devils Mask Society to interview Nawashi Kanna and Kogura. They talk about how rope is learned, about the journey away from and back to kinbaku, as well as some very amazing ideas about the importance of making mistakes in rope. This episode is brought to you by the Ropecast Sponsors: Bastard Ropes Karma Rope ...as well as Patrons like you! Please continue to share the Ropecast - we're close to 1000 downloads a day, and it's thanks to your support!
The @BedRaptor herself rejoins the Ropecast to talk about her recent FetLife post about negotiating consent better for fetish performers. It's a complex and controversial subject that has spawned a new fetlife group as well as a search for better resources - including things like The Network/LA Red, who trains people in dealing with the difference between abuse and BDSM. Tifereth is out for real change, and her call to arms is inspiring! Give a listen and then give your own feedback in the comments, emailing Gray, or via the Ropecast Hotline at 608-432-ROPE. Like most Ropecasts, this one is brought to you by the good ropemakers and distributors at BastardRopes.com and KarmaRope.com. Stop by their sites, buy their rope, or at least thank them for helping to support the Ropecast. NEWS FLASH: You know how Gray keeps harping on Patreon, wanting to get to the $500 pledge level so he can go to a weekly show? He's tired of waiting, and is just going to go to a weekly production schedule anyway! If you benefit from the podcast, you can let him know with a pledge like BlackWolf did ($20! That's a month of hosting!) or even just $1. Either way, you get the satisfaction of knowing you support the longest-running kinky podcast on the web and that you get the goodies (like sketchnotes & kinky pics) that come with Ropecast Patronage.
Live from Bondage Expo Dallas comes Sterling, who presented a thorough lecture and demonstration on current trends in Chinese Bondage. (Incidentally, you can get a high-res look at those sketchnotes (and others) by becoming a patron of the Ropecast). Then it's off to Debauchery 2015, where during a cigar social Gray interviews the Action Bastard. He's the devious mind behind Bastard Ropes and the rumors of his death are vastly overestimated - both times. By the end of the conversation some deeper subjects come up, and he and Gray reference Midori's podcast where she discussed the mixed emotions vets can feel when they hear "Thank you for your service." You can share your thoughts on the subject by email or twitter. This episode was brought to you by the support of Karma Rope and their pay-what-you-can payment model!

The final episode of the 10th anniversary month of the Ropecast is here, and we've saved the best for last! Akira Naka is one of the most prolific and popular Japanese nawashi in the world, and he took the time to answer Gray's unusual questions. He talks about how he learned from his teacher, why he teaches in his own style, and even how he handled it when his son found out his dad was a "dirty old man." You get to hear this and more in his own voice with the help of a translator and a bit of saké. This podcast was made possible through the generosity and cooperation of the Rigger's Delight Studio (thanks, Vanessa!) and Demon Six (who also backs another rope podcast by Faviola called the Kinbakunomicon). Our sponsors for this episode have been Bastard Ropes (for fantastic custom-dyed hand-made rope) and Karma Rope (the only "pay-what-you-can" rope vendor!). Next week we'll be back with a regular episode featuring an interview with Naka Akira!
Some people make art out of rope and bodies. Some people make art about people making art out of rope and bodies. Pedro is someone who does both. At the Naka Akira workshop in NYC he premiered a portion of his upcoming documentary which portrays the experience of a rope scene. Afterwards he took the time to talk with the Ropecast and the studio audience talking about his journey in rope. Soft-spoken, almost self-effacing, Pedro gives an impression of someone who was truly changed by his first encounter with kinbaku, and he has spent years honing his skill and craft to now combine it with another art form: film. This podcast was made possible through the sponsorship of Bastard Ropes and Karma Rope. Please visit their sites and thank them for helping keep the Ropecast going! You can also directly support the 'cast by becoming a PATRON! For as little as $1/month you get bonus content and the knowledge that you are part of the oldest kinky podcast on the web!
This episode contains the second half of Tifereth's discussion at NARIX 2014 on bouncing back from bondage injuries, and it goes deep. Along with other participants such as Ben Hart, Ojipan, Aeolis Est, Naiia, and GoodMostTimes, they begin to develop a framework for improving the way injuries are dealt with in the community, not just for the individual. It's an in-depth talk on a difficult subject that is sure to spark discussion. But first Gray has some exciting news, as the Ropecast has joined the Erotic Awakenings Podcast Network. This means a nifty opening jingle AND associating this podcast with other fine shows like The Fearless Submissive, The Femme Dom Mystique, and even Lee Harrington's Passion and Soul Podcast! Check out the other podcasts for an earful of kink, poly, and general naughtiness. This podcast was brought to you by the wonderful folks at Bastard Ropes as well as the sponsorship of Maui Kink. Coffee was provided by wonderful listeners like you, donating monthly via http://patreon.com/ropecast to keep me caffeinated and the Ropecast going! Speaking of which: the Ropecast is 10 years old this February 25th! Graydancer would like to celebrate with some voice messages. If you'd like to say happy birthday to the Ropecast, leave a message at 1-608-432-ROPE or email the sound file!
The Passion And Soul Podcast welcomes back the wonderful Graydancer for a discussion about power exchange, energetic flow, connection, and the evolution of the GRUE events. He shares some of the ways he keeps his power-based relationships connected on the road, and takes us into tools and concepts for moving from erotic techniques to interpersonal transcendence. We are playfully welcomed into his life and adventures, and learn that life is about deep communication, expansion, and gratitude. *** Passion And Soul Podcast:iTunes Subscription: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/passion-soul-podcast-by-lee/id840372122RSS Feed: http://passionandsoul.libsyn.com/rssPast MP3 files: http://passionandsoul.libsyn.comPassionAndSoul Audio Page: http://passionandsoul.com/audioStitcher: www.stitcher.com/podcast/erotic-awakening-podcast/passion-and-soulErotic Awakening Network: http://www.eroticawakening.com/podcast Graydancer's Information:Gray Miller's Inspirational Blog – http://www.LoveLifePractice.comGraydancer Website – http://www.GrayDancer.comRope Cast Podcast – http://www.RopeCast.comPatreon – http://patreon.com/ropecastEmail: graydancer@gmail.comTwitter - https://twitter.com/graydancerFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/gray.dancerFetlife - https://fetlife.com/users/1027 Links, Events, People and Books Mentioned:Naia - https://fetlife.com/users/11443Flagg - http://the-estate.com/Tesfest - http://www.tesfest.org/Decision fatigue - http://lifehacker.com/how-to-overcome-decision-fatigue-1462863837Power amplification - http://fourhourworkweek.com/outsourcing-life/Resources for flow state - http://www.lovelifepractice.com/practice/flowbane/ Rise of Superman Flow State - http://riseofsuperman.com Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi - http://www.ted.com/talks/mihaly_csikszentmihalyi_on_flowRambleGRUE September 2015 - http://www.RambleGrue.orgDark Odyssey Fusion - http://darkodyssey.com/fusion-2015SJ Tucker - http://sjtucker.comFree Spirit Gathering - http://www.freespiritgathering.orgKarma Ropes - http://karmarope.comDragonhouse Kinky Australian B&B - http://www.dragonhousefarm.com.au/Roughinamamorato - https://fetlife.com/users/13913Lochai - https://fetlife.com/users/4751NARIX: North American Rope Exchange - http://narix.org/Dark Odyssey Winter Fire - http://darkodyssey.com/winterfire-2015London - Sacred Kink Initiatory Experience – http://www.schooloferoticmysteries.com/other-workshops/lee-harrington-london/sacred-kink-initiatory-intensiveLee's NYC 1-day Rope/Connection Intensive - https://fetlife.com/events/299709 Books on Learning Flow State/People Graydancer Recommends:Flow Psychology Experience - http://www.amazon.com/Flow-Psychology-Experience-Mihaly-Csikszentmihalyi/dp/0060162538/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20To Sell is Human - http://www.amazon.com/Sell-Human-Surprising-Moving-Others/dp/1594631905/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20Thinking Fast and Slow - http://www.amazon.com/Thinking-Fast-Slow-Daniel-Kahneman/dp/0374533555/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20Rope, Bondage and Power - http://www.amazon.com/Ropes-Bondage-Power-Exchange-Resource/dp/1935509020/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20Radical Ecstasy - http://www.amazon.com/Radical-Ecstasy-SM-Journeys-Transcendence/dp/189015962X/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20Wild Side Kink - http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Side-Sex-Book-Kink-ebook/dp/B00DI01MRO/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20 Lee's Upcoming Events/Appearances: http://passionandsoul.com/appearances/ Lee Harrington Contact Information: http://www.PassionAndSoul.com http://www.FetLife.com/passionandsoul http://twitter.com/#!/PassionAndSoulhttps://www.facebook.com/lee.harringon https://www.facebook.com/passionandsoul
Back at NARIX 2014, Tifereth led a discussion on all the things we don't talk about in rope bondage. How can we create an environment that is more open and honest and less dangerous (because, as Ojipan mentions, it's never "safe") for everyone? This podcast was made possible by sponsorships from Bastard Ropes and Maui Kink. Please check out their sites, and consider becoming a patron of the Ropecast yourself!

Live from the hot tub in Calgary, Alberta comes an interview that has long been desired: Shay from San Francisco! A self-tying suspension aficionado, cock-and-ball binding kink educator, ER nurse, leather-title-holder, and half of the dynamic duo Stefanos and Shay, she spends some time spilling her secrets and sexy surprises in Graydancer's lap! This podcast brought to you by BastardRopes.com, who has contributed to the production costs of the episode. We appreciate his support and, also, his rope! Please check out his site and let him know you heard about him here, so he and others continue to support the Ropecast.
Hedwig has a long and in-depth interview with internationally renowned kinbaku artists Kanna and Kagura. They cover not only the usual questions about rope training, education, and performance, but also deeper topics such as what goes into an intense rope partnership and Kanna's experience coming out as transgender in the Japanese rope community. They also talk about rope injury, the roots of hojo jutsu, and the fun of "going hard" (semeru). It is one of the most touching and personal interviews ever put on the Ropecast, and we are immensely grateful to Hedwig, Kanna-san and Kagura-san for sharing it with us. Below is an example of their performance style. Nawashi Kanna & Kagura performing at the II. Viennese Rope Festival (March2014) from Shibari Dojo Vienna on Vimeo. In order to preserve the words of the bakushi and model in their own voices, this podcast was produced with minimal editing. Feedback? E-mail Graydancer!

There's been a buzz in the rope community in North America recently about the upcoming NARIX event in Ann Arbor, MI November 7-9, 2014. Ben Hart dispels a lot of the mystery but leaves all the excitement with this interview. You can learn more about NARIX including how to apply for the 2014 event at www.NARIX.org, and also by visiting the Fetlife page (NARIXhost) or reading the group posts there. You can also email them for more information. If you enjoyed this podcast, consider becoming a Patron of Gray's and support his continued work in both kink and vanilla blogging and podcasting. You can also subscribe to Kink Academy for a ton of rope tutorials and that will help him put food on the table as well!
Lochai, one of Graydancer's first teachers, honors him with an in-person interview where they talk about the good, the bad, and the ridiculous in the world of teaching kink. He outlines his concept on the differences between demonstrations, presentations, and education, and how mixing up the expectations of attendees causes a lot of unneeded grief. Along the way you get a lot of his humor, sarcasm, and more than a little ribbing of Gray during this visit to the Bondage Capital of the World, Madison, WI. It is regrettable that this interview was not able to be recorded in the sound proof Ropecast Studios, and as a result there is some annoying fan noise that appears in the podcast. By way of apology, the staff of the Ropecast have agreed to take a 50% cut in their salary in order to bring you this episode absolutely free of charge.
Graydancer goes all literate with an interview with author Pablo Greene. His new book "How to Kill a Superhero" is like a cross between Laura Antoniou and Dan Brown, with hair-raising chases, hot man-on-superhero lovin', and BONDAGE! This podcast is cleverly divided into "non-spoiler" and "spoiler" sections, so if you haven't read the book, you'll know when to stop listening. CORRECTION: At the end of the podcast, Gray mistakenly says that you can buy the book via HowToKillASuperHero.com. The link is actually HowToKillASuperHero.net, and you can not only buy the book, you can read the first chapter free, check out Pablo's tumblr, as well accessing other resources like this cosplay guide. But wait, there's more! Pablo also gave ropecast listeners access to a bonus story: "High and Tight." Download it, read it, and spread the SuperHero Kink! Be sure to stop and say hi to Pablo at International Mr. Leather in Chicago as well, where he'll be at an author's book signing!

image: Lee Harrington showing the Ropecast what Twue Wope Submission must certainly look like... Fresh from a GRUE in Los Angeles, Gray does a quick interview with Charlie Frown, organizer of the "Scavenger Rope Bomb" which was so much fun after the GRUE. The Ropecast then takes you north to Alaska, for part one of an extended interview with Lee Harrington, author of many books including the eagerly anticipated "More Shibari You Can Use." He talks about learning, teaching, writing, publishing and, of course, ROPE!
Osaka rope artists Saki Kamijoo and Aya Yuuki join the Ropecast to talk about life as Rock & Roll Riggers in Japan. Saki (who has been called the "Fastest Hands in the East" by Graydancer) and Aya talk about teaching, learning, playing, boots, gas masks, pain, pleasure, performance and, of course, lots of ROPE! This podcast is sponsored by the Devils Mask Society and listeners like YOU.
Thanks to the continued support of the Devil's Mask Society, Graydancer is joined on the Ropecast by Kazami Ranki, a Japanese bondage performer and teacher based in Osaka. With the translation help of Kikoropes and support from Demonsix, they talk about the worldwide rope scene, connection, competition, and just how tough bottoms can be. This podcast is sponsored by the Devils Mask Society and listeners like YOU.
Master K, the author of "The Beauty of Kinbaku", shares the news of the release of the Japanese edition of his book. Of course, he and Gray also get off track and talk about performance, rope teaching, cumulative injuries on bottoms, and much more.
My passion is using ropes as an art mediumand painting the human body like a canvas using Japanese delicate style of rope bondage. - Kasumi With the translation help of Kikorope (who you met in the last Ropecast) and technical support from the Devil's Mask Society, we have an interview with a fantastic rope artist from Japan: Hourai Kasumi. Based in Nagoya, Japan, Kasumi started as a model for Akechi Denki and later studied with Hajime Kinoko before developing her own style, which has been called "as beautiful as it is precise." Since that time she has created her own body of work photographically, on DVD, and performing internationally (most recently in Sydney, Australia). Her website is a treasure trove of rope bondage, and you can meet her in person if you travel to L.A. for the upcoming Los Angeles GRUE or to her upcoming workshops in Kansas City. In this exclusive interview, you can hear her talk about her philosophy of rigging, her methods of improving connection, and even the true meaning of "nawashi"! Please note this podcast has been edited for English-speaking listeners.
