I hear from readers all the time that they just cannot find a way to keep their homes clean. I have always been a tidy and organized person, so it has been genuinely confusing for me to understand why people have a hard time keeping their houses clean. Just implement a system and stick with it. It seems simple to me.But then I met my friend Rosemarie Groner from Busy Budgeter and I began to understand the fundamental differences in personality and basic psychology that affect how people approach things like laundry and cleaning their homes. It's not that people don't WANT to have a clean house. It's not that they don't understand how the system works. It's that the system does not jive with their personality. In other words, it's doomed for failure from the very start. So Rosemarie has figured out how to lean into her natural "hot mess" tendency to figure out a way to get and keep her house clean for good. Instead of working against her personality, she works WITH it. And in this episode, she gives you her best tips so that you can do the same thing! CoachArt (0:00:00)Between homework, sports, and extracurricular activities... school is a hustle for every kid. But for those who live with a serious chronic illness, time spent between hospital visits and home checkups usually doesn't allow them to participate in any of the extracurriculars offered at their schools which can leave them feeling left out. This is what inspired the creation of CoachArt, an online service dedicated to connecting children with chronic illnesses to volunteer coaches and mentors. Today we're joined by Greg Harrell-Edge, executive director of CoachArt, to discuss the mission of this nonprofit and how thousands of kids have been able to live their dreams beyond the classroom. Dropping Comparison (0:15:16)We've all been there: we're having a good day, going about our usual routine, and then BAM... comparison strikes. Maybe we start comparing our clothes to our friend's, our camping trip to someone's European vacation, or our job to another's. We know comparing ourselves to other people will never make us happy. But it's so hard to snap ourselves out of it. So, we invited friend of the show, Michelle McCullough, to talk us through how to drop comparisons and be happier. Michelle is the author of “The HappyIST” and a seasoned speaker on finding more happiness and success in life. Organizing to Save (0:33:38)Life is messy and disorganized. So, it's not surprising that often our homes are disorganized as well with forgotten groceries in the fridge and laundry piling up so we're doing 6 loads in one day. But your disorganization might be costing you more than you think. So, what can we do? Rosemarie Groner went from being chronically disorganized her whole life to saving $23,000 dollars a year by organizing her home and meal planning. She started her blog The Busy Budgeter to help others organize their lives and she's here to help us today. Porch Cameras (0:50:36)Porch security cameras are becoming more and more popular as people are becoming increasingly concerned about thieves known as “porch pirates.” I know I've seen videos on social media of thieves stealing things from porches, but it's hard to know if the security footage ever ends up helping police actually catch the porch pirates. On top of that, it's hard to tell if the cameras even prevent people from stealing your packages in the first place. We reached out to Dr. Ben Stickle, a professor of Criminal Justice Administration at Middle Tennessee State University, to help us decide if porch cameras really deliver on their promises to protect our belongings. Click here to find Dr. Stickle's research on property crime and crime prevention. Being Vulnerable (1:04:46)Victor Frankl, a Holocaust survivor, said, “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” We've all been facing a situation that we cannot change, so how can we take this time to change ourselves? This is a vulnerable thing to do, but it will ultimately improve our lives. Ganel-Lyn Condie has some great ideas on how we can do this. Ganel-Lyn is a friend of the show and motivational speaker and we're happy to have her on the show today to discuss this important topic. Building a Budget (1:26:17)Due to the Coronavirus, the economy has taken a huge hit leaving many people without jobs or with reduced paychecks. While it may not be easy, one of the best things we can do right now is establish a budget. Doing this will help reduce the negative impact of COVID-19 on our finances. We are talking with Christy Bieber, a full-time financial and legal writer, this morning. She's going to tell us the best way to go about putting together a budget during this pandemic.

What would it take to make the 4-Hour Workweek a reality? Since we last caught up, this stay-at-home-mom blogger has been on a mission to automate and simplify her business. Yes, by request, Rosemarie Groner from BusyBudgeter.com is back for a 4th round on the podcast! If you are just joining us, let me catch you up on the backstory... In her past life as a state trooper and home daycare operator, Rosemarie made an incredible transformation in her own household’s finances -- reducing expenses and paying off debt. She shared her winning money strategies on a blog for “chronically disorganized” moms. Within her first year, she was making $5k a month, mostly from ad income. A year after that, $20-25k, mostly from affiliates and her own email list. And a year after that, she’d even touched the 6-figures a month mark by creating her own products. Tune in to hear how Rosemarie: Turned her best content into a 2-year automated email sequence. Fine-tuned that sequence to earn affiliate commissions and sell her products. Drives traffic today. Decided to cut off a profitable segment of her audience.
#004: Any successful person will tell you that having a healthy mindset is an ongoing effort. You have to work to maintain that healthy mindset as you keep working towards becoming your best self. As we grow and change, our mindset has to grow and change with us. Rosemarie Groner grew her wildly successful blog, The Busy Budgeter, to a full-time income in 10 months and to $100K per month by year 2. But finding rapid business and financial success didn’t change her deeply ingrained money beliefs. The emotions we have around money are deep-rooted and having more money doesn’t necessarily change that. In fact, it can sometimes complicate things even more. In this episode, Rosemarie shares how her mindset helped her grow her business so quickly and how it had to shift as she found success. Looking for more information, mama? With 250 million active users, Pinterest is a content discovery platform nearly every blogger and business owner should be spending some time on. The Pinterest tactics shared on this podcast in late 2015 by Rosemarie Groner were extremely effective ... for a while. But I began to see declines in traffic, and today Pinterest brings in perhaps a quarter of the visitors it used to. Still, I’m convinced I could be doing better on the platform to reach more people and help more people with my content. Just like Google, a top-ranking pin can bring in consistent qualified traffic month after month after month. But also like Google, there’s a certain science to the Pinterest algorithm. To help me breathe new life into my account — and walk through how you can do the same even if you’ve never used Pinterest before, I invited Kate Ahl from SimplePinMedia.com to join me on the show. Note: Click here to download Kate’s top tips for creating and optimizing your Pinterest account from this episode. She’s an expert on all things Pinterest marketing, and in this episode, she breaks down everything I’m doing wrong and what you and I should be doing instead to start reaching more people and driving more traffic. Tune in to hear the right way to set up your profile, how to set up and optimize your pins and boards to increase your reach, and how to rank you content in Pinterest's search results to drive more traffic to your site.
Could a part-time blog really bring in that kind of cash? Rosemarie swears she only works 20 hours a week! Yes, The Busy Budgeter is back for her 3rd round on The Side Hustle Show, and it's a good one. If you missed the first two: In episode 142, Rosemarie Groner's blog was about a year old and earning $5k a month. She shared a step-by-step system for generating massive traffic from Pinterest, which I immediately implemented myself. [this strategy is outdated, which why I didn't include this episode in The Blogging Mixtape.] A year later, in episode 199, she was earning $20-25k a month, and shared her "date your list" and "core affiliate strategy." A few months after that recording, she started posting consistent $100k months from her blog, so of course I had to invite her back to hear what changed. Note: Click here to download Rosemarie's top tips for improving your blogging ROI. If you guessed creating her own products and driving paid traffic, you'd be the big winner. “I eliminated anything that wasn't important for my growth,” Rosemarie said. Tune in to hear how Rosemarie started selling her own products, the sales funnels tactics and tools she uses to turn subscribers into customers, and her tips to keep improving your ROI so you spend less time working while increasing your revenue.
You may remember Rosemarie Groner from episode 142 of the Side Hustle Show last year. She revealed how her blog Busy Budgeter was just a year old and receiving around 400,000 pageviews and making around $5k a month — primarily through Pinterest traffic. It's almost a year later now and I had to have her back to see how things were progressing. Rosemarie is now regularly making more than $20k a month, and while her pageviews are still at a similar number she has improved her ROI and diversified her traffic and income sources. Note: Click here to download Rosemarie's top traffic and monetization tips from this episode. Rosemarie is still getting a ton of traffic from Pinterest and explains how she has moved with the changes on the platform to maintain her numbers. She also talks about how she has started focusing on SEO, has built different email lists to sell different products to, and why calculating the ROI on a project should be one of your first considerations. Her first appearance on episode 142 was one of the most popular shows of last year and I expect this episode to be just as popular. It's packed with actionable tips and information you can use to increase your own traffic numbers and earnings, along with some of the new tips and tricks Rosemarie has implemented in the last year. And the best part is, sometimes your side hustles can turn into something so much more! We've brought on a great friend and an even MORE amazing blogger, Rosemarie Groner, to share her experiences in the blogosphere and tell us all about her incredible success story. When Rosemarie started her blog, The Busy Budgeter, she had an idea of what she wanted her end goal to be but, just like you, didn't know if she'd succeed. And in 10 months, her readership and income blossomed into a full-time income and beyond, and now she's making $100,000 a month! We'd call that a success! Of course, blogging wasn't the first career Rosemarie envisioned herself having. She was a state trooper for 9 years, but as a wife and mom, due to her crazy unpredictable schedule, she knew she didn't want to do it forever. And when she started a home daycare center, that didn't work out too well either. There had to be a way to replace her full-time income, and suddenly, she found it in a random email for a blogging course. From there, Rosemarie enrolled in Elite Blog Academy (a His & Her Money favorite!), and this was just the beginning. It was a lot of work and dedication, but as her blog grew and grew, Rosemarie realized she was building a six-figure business - as a stay-at-home mom, no less!
