My amazing client asked me this question and I thought it was so great that I did a podcast on it. Your feelings drive your behavior, so if you are wanting to make behavior changes, learning how to feel your feelings and understanding your feelings on a deeper level is crucial. This episode dives into the WHY we want to know how your feelings actually feel in your body. I'm talking about the physical sensations you get when you are having a feeling. The tightness you feel when you are anxious. The fiery hotness you feel when you are angry. The empty hollow feeling you feel when you are sad. The lightness you feel when you are happy. These are the sensations of your feelings. And if you can develop a skill of noticing and describing these sensations while they are happening, a couple things will happen. You can pause long enough to interrupt automatic behavior and prevent doing something you actually don't want to do like drink alcohol. You will get to know yourself and your like/dislikes and give yourself natural pleasures and be able to process feelings instead of numb or escape or over-work/do Tune in and hear all of this explained! I also share why learning to process your feelings is so important so that you can call on your tools during difficult times when you need the tools the most. And my thoughts on how drinking during difficult times makes things so much worse and I have found a deeper gratitude for my sobriety in this time and it has helped me find gratitude everyday even when things feel so sad. If you've successfully cut back on how much you are drinking, even if it's just one extra day less or instead of 3 drinks you've been having 2 more often, you had to go through some discomfort to do that right? You had to process urges, manage your mind, say no more often, and all that isn't a walk in the park, it's UNCOMFORTABLE. When you move towards any goal you will have different levels of discomfort. The first level of discomfort is often the hardest but once you accomplish it and make some headway it becomes less uncomfortable and you can even settle into the new normal. It feels more natural, like you don't have to try as hard. Well, this episode I talk about up-leveling that discomfort and choosing to feel uncomfortable AGAIN to make more progress towards your goal. You also want to listen as I tell you a story about my recent 'tiny' house rental.. let's call it the ultimate test of my level of discomfort, ha ha! This episode dives in the problem of people in our lives who might say unsupportive comments about you cutting back or quitting alcohol. I explain WHY they might do this and how to navigate it if the person who is the offender is important to you. I also discuss our culture and the social pressure we experience when we are actively trying to change things. These things can be scary and make us not want to share and tell the truth about our drinking. But remember, this discomfort is temporary and you can get to a place where you aren't bothered by our heavy drinking society and other peoples thoughts and comments. Down the road, you will have established stronger boundaries, you will say no to doing things or being around people who don't feel supportive, you will move past this and have the true freedom you seek. Hi and welcome to Episode 140 of the Photography Explained podcast. I'm your host Rick, and in each episode I try explain one photographic in plain English in less than 10 minutes (ish – OK more like less than 27ish minutes), but still without the irrelevant details. What I tell you is based on my lifetime of photographic experience. And not Google. OK – well there was a little bit of research in this one. Just a little bit. In this episode, What Does The Future Of Photography Look Like? I touched on this in a previous episode or two, and have lots more to say on this. And a few thoughts from the last episode, Changes To My Podcast. And How Do We Get Started In Photography Today? First - here is the answery bitThe future of photography is very bright. The demand for images is higher now that it has ever been, as has the number of photos being taken and shared. Photography has been opened up to a global, consumer market with advances in technology in phones, and also in cameras. How photos are taken though has changed, as has how people get into photography these days. The challenge is to develop an interest in photography that goes beyond basic phone photography. The future of photography also has to cater for the constant need for immediacy - higher quality quicker. Or even higher quality immediately.Listen on for much more. What's next?Glad you asked! In Photography Explained Podcast Episode 141 - Do I Really Need A Camera In 2022? Or Will My Phone Do Instead?Get your question answered. This is what my podcast is all about, answering your photography questions. ND Filters - What Are They? What Do They Do? Do I Need One? Hi and welcome to Episode 134 of the Photography Explained podcast. Here is the answery bitND stands for neutral density. A neutral density filter reduces the amount of light that passes through the lens to the camera sensor. This gives the photographer more control over the camera settings that he or she can use, whilst still getting a correct exposure in a variety of lighting conditions. ND filters can be used in very bright conditions to help get the correct exposure, or to reduce the depth of field. ND filters allow photographers to use longer shutter speeds in conventional lighting situations for creative reasons, such as to blur water, clouds or anything moving in the photo.ND filters are basically sunglasses for cameras. Today I'm talking with Lisa Appelo about her tragic story of suddenly becoming a widow with 7 children and how God ended up using this hard season of her life to fuel her calling to help others endure grief and hardships.  In this episode, we talk about her story of loss and moving forward. Then we talk about how she realized that God was calling her to use this hard season to help others. We cover topics like being obedient to God's call on your life (even when you would've picked a different option), the importance of niching down, blogging as a business model, and becoming a published author to reach and serve her audience.  There is so much goodness in this episode! So I really hope that her story inspires you today either from the perspective of someone going through something really hard and you don't know how it'll turn out OR as someone wondering where God is calling you as you see how God used a tragedy in Lisa's life to actually be her calling in business and ministry.  About Lisa Appelo After going to sleep a happily married woman and waking up a bereaved widow and single mother of seven, Lisa provides biblical encouragement for all who grieve—whether over the loss of a loved one, a job, a dream, financial stability, etc. She now manages a community of writers and those moms who, like her, are widowed. And I only change the sky when I need to, which is more often than I would like as I am here in England where the weather can be, erm, rubbish.Sorry – one more thingI am an architectural, construction and real estate photographer. What Is Crop Factor? And How Does It Affect The Photos I Take?  Hi and welcome to Episode 122 of the Photography Explained podcast.I'm your host Rick, and in each episode I will try to explain one photographic thing to you in plain English in less than 10 minutes (ish) without the irrelevant details. What I tell you is based on my lifetime of photographic experience. And not Google. No offense Google. Before I go on I need your help. I need your questions to answer. More on this at the end. Here is the answery bit.Crop factor is a number used to calculate the effective focal length of a camera lens on a cropped sensor or micro four thirds camera, compared to the same focal length on a full frame camera. Photos taken with cropped sensor and micro four thirds cameras are in effect zoomed in, when compared to the same focal length on a full frame camera. Photos taken at the same focal length on cropped sensor and micro four thirds cameras have a narrower field of view, meaning you get less in the photo. Blimey. This is one of those. Complicated, quite boring, but very important. I will do my best on this one don't worry. Listen for more, or check out the transcript and even the blog post - so many ways to find out more! What's next?Glad you asked! Take photos with the cameras suggested aperture, shutter and ISO combination. Then experiment with different apertures, shutter speeds and ISOs, and combinations of the three. And check out what has happened when you changed these things.Take photos that are correctly exposed, under exposed and over exposed. I did this and it helped me to understand what was going on. So You Want To Be Competitive? Let's Explore that...There comes a point in some athlete's journeys in which they think they want to become "Competitive". Competition can be fun, and it can drive us to be better... But, there is also the ugly side of competition that no one understands and it takes extreme discipline! Is your nutrition dialed in where you are on point with fueling your body for the activity levels and recovery? Are you sleeping enough? Most people think to be competitive just means: "Workout more" and this couldn't be furthest from the truth... From a competitive standpoint, yes, in order to be good, you'll need to workout more than just the 1 hour of class per day. But, your extra curricular work should be focused on weaknesses and things you need to improve upon, not just sheer volume. Lastly, in order to get where you need to be, and to focus on your strengths and weaknesses and your nutrition, you should have a team around you. There are a lot of online coaches out there. Some are great, some are good, and some you need to avoid! We are going to tell you what some traits are in a remote coach that you need to avoid! #Ftinesspodcast #gympodcast #crossfitpodcast #healthpodcast #nutritionpodcast#Gyminracinewi #Personaltrainer #weightloss #fitness #healthandwellness #Nutrition #getfit #cardio #cycling #fitfam #fitlife #fitnessaddict #fitnessmotivation #GetStrong #weightlossjourney #strengthandconditioning #gym#LiftHeavy #GirlsWhoLift #menwholift #GymLife #GymTime #NoPainNoGain #Sweat #Weights #WeightLifting #Workout #Transformationjourney Links: Want to learn more?
