Taylor Parker Maternal Instinct — she looked a state trooper in the eye while covered in dried blood with a dying baby in her lap and told him she had just given birth. The hospital determined in minutes that she had never been pregnant. She'd had a hysterectomy years earlier. Reagan Simmons-Hancock was found dead in her home. She was twenty-one years old and eight months pregnant.Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott sits down for the full three-part conversation on the Taylor Parker case. This is every segment — the psychology, the boyfriend, and the system — uncut and in sequence. The first lane examines Taylor's pattern. The fabricated illnesses that preceded the fake pregnancy by years. The fixation on another woman's pregnancy that got Taylor cut off and pushed to a new town. The brother's testimony that her personality transformed after weight loss surgery. The second lane puts Wade Griffin's role on the table. The eight-million-dollar check he tried to cash. The four-million-dollar ranch offer. The warnings from his mother, his friend, Taylor's ex-husband, her aunt — all dismissed. The community that now walks the other way when they see him.The third lane takes on the system. Taylor's own OB-GYN watched her post stolen ultrasound images from his office and couldn't tell a soul. Her father attended the gender reveal knowing the pregnancy was a fabrication. Privacy laws and pandemic restrictions locked every door that could have been opened. This is the full conversation — all three segments together. The questions Shavaun Scott raises about who failed and why don't have easy answers.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Taylor Parker Maternal Instinct — this is the full three-part conversation with psychotherapist Shavaun Scott on the Taylor Parker case, all segments uncut. The trooper scene. The boyfriend. The system that failed. Everything. It starts with Taylor herself — the composure she showed while covered in blood selling a lie to a state trooper. The pattern of fabricated illnesses that went back years before the pregnancy. The friend whose pregnancy she tried to hijack before starting over with a new partner in a new town.It moves to Wade Griffin — the man who believed the inheritance, the pregnancy, and the eight-million-dollar check. Who was warned by his mother, his friends, Taylor's ex-husband, and her own aunt. Who told the court he felt something was wrong and kept going anyway. Whose community holds him responsible and whose name appears in a wrongful death lawsuit. And it ends with the system. The doctor who performed Taylor's hysterectomy and couldn't legally tell anyone when she posted stolen ultrasound images from his office. The family who all knew and all waited for someone else to handle it. The pandemic restrictions that gave Taylor nine months of unquestionable cover.Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott's perspective on who bears responsibility in this case — and what it means for anyone watching who thinks they would have stopped it — runs deeper than anything the Netflix documentary covers.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Royce discusses a new bill proposed by a New Jersey communist that seeks to repeal the Tiahrt Amendment and "legalize" a gun registry, and all for the purpose of making lists of conservatives.. Everytown claims the "overwhelming majority" of crime guns in Canada come from the U.S., but a study produced by the Canadians themselves paints an opposite picture.. Florida's AG, James Uthmeier, scores another win for the 2nd Amendment and Floridians by refusing to contest a 4th Circuit Court of Appeals decision that ruled 18-20-year-olds have every right to carry concealed firearms just like all other adults, wrecking the Constitutionally abominable MSD Act of 2018.. New information comes out that the hero Marine that helped stop the shooter in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was limited in his ability to stop the shooter by himself due to magazine capacity restrictions, which caused him to run out of ammo; thankfully, he contained the shooter enough for the State Trooper who finally stopped the threat. College graduation speeches are getting political, and it's causing some real drama. There are two meetings today to move forward on the Royals building a new stadium at Crown Center and we are getting a lot more details of what that district will look like by 2030. The Parks and Rec board will vote to give the city manager authority to negotiate a lease with the team while the City Council meets to set up a schedule to move forward to approval of $600 million. It's feeling like go time! Kansas governor Laura (Karen) Kelly used her veto 25 times this legislative session but the good news is a whole bunch of them were overridden by a supermajority. Good news... the protests at public schools are about to go away as we've known them. Eric Swalwell's fall from grace has been years in the making, but, holy smokes is this getting ugly. There's video everywhere... so much so it's like watching Hunter Biden all over again. After Trump blocked the shipping ports in Iran, ships all over the world are headed to the Gulf of America. It's incredible. At least 125 empty ships are headed here to fill up 2 million barrels ON EACH SHIP. Yes, that's $200 million worth of oil we are selling to 120 more ships. When I saw the photo of the charred and pretty much destroyed Orion capsule our astronauts returned home in, I only asked one question. You may be asking the same thing. Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice posts the most hilarious post in Chiefs history as he suggests he will be looking for a new contract that pays him like he's the number one receiver in the NFL. This dude has issues. FIFA is working another bait and switch on tickets and Arrowhead and nobody can do anything about it. Governor Kehoe is sending the National Guard and State Troopers to KC for the World Cup and I missed quite a chance to buy a piece of expensive memorabilia for a song a decade ago.
Episode 243 of the Transition Drill Podcast explores law enforcement identity, career pressure, and life after the job for veterans and first responders navigating the reality that service can cost more than people see. Medically retired Massachusetts State Trooper Tony Bova shares his story on dyslexia, divorce, burnout, and what it takes to build purpose again when the uniform can't be your whole life anymore.Tony Bova grew up in Massachusetts in a close Italian family, but school was never easy for him. He was diagnosed with dyslexia early, struggled academically, and spent years feeling like he had to work harder than everyone else just to keep up. That didn't push him away from policing. In a lot of ways, it pulled him toward it. He found that while paperwork and report writing were a grind, handling problems in real time fit how he was wired. That became even clearer when he worked as a police cadet at UMass Amherst and realized this was the career he wanted. But getting there wasn't simple. Tony talks about how long and frustrating the path into law enforcement was, including background issues that kept biting him even when he was trying to be honest. Before landing in the Massachusetts State Police, he worked through other roles that kept him close to the profession, including loss prevention, special police work, hospital policing at Mass General, and summer police work in Provincetown. Those jobs gave him a taste of the work while he kept pushing for the career he'd spent years chasing.Once he got to the state police, Tony did the job well and built the career he'd worked toward for roughly a decade. But the conversation gets honest about what came with it. He talks about the pressure inside the profession, the toll of constant fear-based thinking around retirement and job security, and how major personal pain, especially an arduous divorce, hit harder than the work itself. After surgery and time away, his perspective changed. He started looking at life outside the job and decided he didn't want to be one of the people who retire, lose purpose, and fall apart.CONNECT WITH THE PODCAST:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paulpantani/WEBSITE: https://www.transitiondrillpodcast.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paulpantani/SIGN-UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER:https://transitiondrillpodcast.com/home#aboutQUESTIONS OR COMMENTS:paul@transitiondrillpodcast.comSPONSORS:GRND CollectiveGet 15% off your purchaseLink: https://thegrndcollective.com/Promo Code: TRANSITION15Blue Line RoastingGet 10% off your purchaseLink: https://bluelineroasting.comPromocode: Transition10Frontline OpticsGet 10% off your purchaseLink: https://frontlineoptics.comPromocode: Transition10

The weekend is here and I'm ready to take a nap. Took the bus trip to Milwaukee yesterday for the Brewer game and while I had a lot of fun, got home WAY past my bedtime last night and didn't get much sleep before coming to work this morning. So, I definitely see a siesta in my future plans this afternoon. In the news this morning, the latest on the escaped kangaroo in Wisconsin, the TSA lines are really bad all over the country but there are ways to check ahead to see just how long the lines are, President Trump's signature is going to appear on US currency, Dash Crofts passes away at age 87, and apparently…some people are finding out that their short flights are being replaced with bus rides…just like in "Home Alone". In sports, the Brew Crew got a nice win over the White Sox yesterday, the Bucks play tomorrow afternoon and only have 11 games left in the regular season, a recap of yesterday's Sweet 16 action and a look at this weekend's men's & women's tournaments. Plus, the Badger men's hockey team beats Dartmouth to advance in the Frozen Four. We talked about what's on TV this weekend and what's new in theaters. Netflix raises their prices AGAIN!!!! And a new, animated "Stranger Things" series is coming next month! Elsewhere in sports, Tom Brady recently asked the NFL about returning to the field to play quarterback, and Hootie is buying into a NASCAR team! A Boy Scout recently got a very rare honor after saving his Scout Master's life, a couple of State Troopers in Maryland are getting recognized for saving and infant's life, and a woman is reunited with her dog after it went missing NINE years ago! Brian recapped his bus trip to the Brewer game yesterday. Doc joined us to talk racing thanks to County Materials in Holmen & in Eau Claire. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a KFC pickle jacket, an officer that was drunk on-duty, a #FloridaMan who drove onto an airport runway and tried getting onto a couple of planes, and a #FloridaMan who tried to save his vehicle from hail damage during a recent storm.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The show breaks down the first teaser for HBO Max's Lanterns and why it's intentionally more grounded than many fans expected. Frank digs into the detective story setup in the American heartland, the Hal Jordan and John Stewart dynamic, why the teaser keeps the ring powers mostly off screen, and how the muted visuals feel closer to Green Lantern: Earth One than classic cosmic spectacle. The conversation also branches into what this approach could mean for future DCU projects if Lanterns sticks the landing.00:00 First impressions: a grounded teaser and the early backlash00:13 What the case looks like: a heartland murder mystery and the local sheriff factor00:27 How this could pivot to the cosmic side and potential DCU connections00:40 The real hook: Hal vs. John, training, testing, and trust00:54 Visual choices: muted powers, dirtier suit, “old beaten up cop” energy01:08 Music choice: “State Trooper” and the cop story signal01:15 Quick cosmic nods: Lantern Corps distance and the “squirrel” line01:22 Bigger takeaway: could this open the door for other grounded DC charactersThe teaser is clearly positioning Lanterns as a detective story first, cosmic superhero story secondThe restraint on ring powers reads like a tone choice, and a budget choice, not a lack of ambitionHal and John's push and pull feels like the engine of the show, with both characters having valid pointsThe suit and overall palette look intentionally worn and lived in, matching the older, battered Hal framingThe teaser leaves breadcrumbs for the wider Corps, while keeping the focus on this case and this partnershipIf this tone works, it could become a template for other DCU characters who thrive in smaller, moodier stories“They told you so early on. It's going to be a grounded detective story.”“The dynamic is the real hook on this one.”“All the visuals are very muted.”“He's like that old beaten up cop you see from Lethal Weapon.”“One of them is a squirrel, so they can't really hold a conversation.”If you dug this breakdown, subscribe to Geek Freaks Headlines and leave a quick review. 45 years of combination experience. South Carolina Fire Academy State Region 2 Coordinator (Battalion Chief rank). JD always wanted to go down the road of law enforcement with dreams of being a State Trooper. At a very young age of 16 he joined his local volunteer fire department. What I appreciate about the interview with JD is his mindset. There's no doubt he's been in the game for a while to see and experience many different things. But it's so refreshing to see and hear a man who doesn't mind change actually JD encourages it. Just because there maybe your way to accomplish a task doesn't mean there can't be another route. And if so that doesn't make you or it wrong. JD drops a few gems and nuggets along the way but also remembers it's not about him. Where he is today was guided by the help and guidance of mentors. Jennifer Eskew shares her journey from starting her career as a Virginia State Trooper to going deep undercover on major drug and gun cases before joining the ATF. She breaks down what undercover work was really like, including investigations involving outlaw bikers and murder-for-hire plots, and how those years on the street shaped her as an agent. Jennifer also opens up about transitioning into the ATF's arson and explosives division, responding to some of the most significant crime scenes in U.S. history — including the Olympic bombing and 9/11 at the Pentagon.
