Onsensitiwiteit teenoor kulturele simbole sal Suid-Afrikaners verder verdeel en vervreem. Dis die mening van die FAK in 'n mediaverklaring wat die organisasie gister uitgereik het na aanleiding van Die Stem-debakel waar Steve Hofmeyr die lied tydens die Innibos-feeskonsert gesing het. Sowat 45 000 mense het opgestaan om die lied saam te sing. Die besturende direkteur van die FAK, dr. Danie Langner, sê nasies word gebou deur respek en erkenning van beide nasionale en kulturele simbole.
