So many of us get stuck in the Groundhog Day that is early motherhood. Isolation, depression, stress. Constant arguing over meals, sleep, and spilled non-dairy milk. Our guest today has done an amazing job of arming expecting mamas and, well ALL mamas really, with the ACTUAL tools it takes to be a mom. Sunit Suchdev is a living goddess guru mama! Sunit is a business and mindset coach with a passion for all things health and wellness. After receiving an undergraduate degree in health sciences, she spent the next 20 years of life dabbling in all sorts of industries but has always maintained a training and coaching component to everything she does. She is a certified life coach and meditation teacher and is finishing up her Functional Nutrition Practitioner certification. Sunit is fellow podcaster and host of "The High Vibe Life". She is the founder of the 40&Such movement which inspires women to enter their 40s the healthiest they've ever been. She wears many hats but her favorite is her mom hat. She is a mom to twin boys and loves being able to shape the future through her own parenting. Sunit takes us through how her business has morphed from its inception. As an “older” Mom of to twin boys at the age of thirty-seven, she watched women around her deal with motherhood. What she soon came to realize was that preparing for motherhood wasn't simply painting the nursery and having all the baby clothes ready. She really figured out the mindset and the true planning it takes to thrive in motherhood. She wasn't perfect but she felt that she had success considering she had twins so she wanted to pay it forward and help other moms. This is where Modern Mommy Prep School and her podcast was born from. In the beginning, it was all about new moms, as her audience grew up in motherhood so did the topics she would coach on. This summer her podcast rebranded to “The High Vibe Life”, as she now is passionate about all women living in their highest vibration regardless of whether they are a mom or not. At the end of the day, her heart lies with inspiring women to live their best life and create change in the future by raising good little humans and adjusting mindset. Sunit strongly feels that this cannot happen unless moms are coming from the best place possible. This is why she firmly believes that women should care for themselves first so they can show up for their kids. Sunit shares some of her tips in how to promote mindfulness and meditation in kids. She says that the secret is that kids more than anyone else are naturally mindful. The only thing that is going on in their brain is just being focussed on the moment and what they are doing. She claims that it is quite easy to get kids to meditate because they are already there in their brains most of the day and mindfulness is just one step away from meditation. She recommends starting as early as possible, with a picture or inanimate object. Here is an example: Show your kids a picture of a snowman, and say to them: “See this snowman. I want you to look at the snowman then I'm going to take it away and you're going to close your eyes and for one minute you're going to think everything you can about that snowman. Try to remember everything. What colour was his nose? Was he wearing a hat? Was he hot? Was he cold? Did he have a sweater on?” Then as their age progresses you can ask them to imagine a snowman or a snowflake. You can ask them to pick something that they want to think about. All you are doing is guiding their mindfulness and meditation. When that minute is up then you get them to talk about it. Ask them questions. What did your snowman look like? How many buttons were on his coat? The idea is to just guide what they are focussing on. This is the first step to meditation. Sunit also recommends a few other tools to guide mindfulness like the raisin exercise or the stuffy exercise.
Sunit Suchdev is a biz and mindset coach whose passion is to inspire moms to live their most high vibe life. She is a certified life coach and meditation teacher and host of “the High Vibe Life” podcast. She believes that women CAN have it all, with the proper mindset shifts, and she inspires moms to live a life where they are talking about all the amazing things they are doing..instead of everything they are not getting done. She is a proud wife, a mom to twin boys, and an essential oil and green food addict. I’m excited to share this special Mother’s Day episode of the Mother’s Quest Podcast! I originally envisioned this episode as a season one finale, with highlights from every episode of season one, but it ended up taking shape differently (even better in my opinion!) and became what will be an ongoing series that we’re calling “E.P.I.C. Guideposts.” Living an E.P.I.C. life has become a guiding framework for Mother’s Quest. So often as mothers, we invest so much of ourselves in our children and their dreams, that we let our own fade to the background. My mission with Mother’s Quest is to become the hero of my journey and the author of my story while providing inspiration, coaching and community to help you do the same. EPIC captures this idea of creating a life filled with the things that matter most. It’s also an acronym mnemonic for the guideposts that I believe help us live such a life while we’re raising our children. So, for this episode, we decided to highlight moments from season one, selected from some of our listeners, that connect to each of the four guideposts. You’ll hear what was special about the moment from the voice of one of our listeners and then hear the piece itself. E.P.I.C. Guideposts in this Mother’s Day Episode ENGAGED - You are mindfully engaged with your children and family Sunit Suchdev shares her reflection on my special episode with my son, Ep 18: YOLO (You Only Live Once) and other Milestone Reflections with Ryan Neale. In this episode, Ryan reflects back that in being “a little selfish” in creating Mother’s Quest I’ve given him so much more than if I only focused on my children. PASSIONATE - You are passionate & purposeful, making a difference beyond your family Wendy Reina called in on the powerful impact that Ep 16: Rising Up with Paola Mendoza had on her. In this clip, Paola shares how her passion as a filmmaker and activist led to her role in creating the Women’s March and how she teaches her son the responsibility of using your privilege to help others. INVESTED - You are invested in yourself Lena Ayala-Velasquez shares her reflection on Ep 14: Breaking the Mold and Finding your Worth with Amanda Steinberg on the importance of taking risks and how the “cost” of taking a risk may actually be lower than the cost of not investing in ourselves. CONNECTED - You are connected to a strong support network so you are in community on the journey Saadia Ahmed, one of our previous guests, highlighted her connection to Ep 07: Living Out Loud with Jenjii Hysten which highlights the importance of forging connections with one another based on our common humanity. I also share how this episode set in motion a series of events which were transformative for my whole family and led to an incredible E.P.I.C. life snapshot for Jenjii’s family and my own. If you’re new to the podcast, this episode will be a great introduction to Mother’s Quest and will hopefully spark you to go and listen to the 18 episodes that are waiting for you. Sunit says it started with her passion for coaching and inspiring women to prepare a little better for motherhood. Sunit is a planner and was having twins and by default ended up thinking about things maybe others do not think about and had a good experience in motherhood. She realized there are core things that you can address before being a mom that will help you navigate motherhood better. She wanted to expand her reach so started creating an online course and then had the idea for disseminating this info over a podcast also. Podcasts allow you to multitask. The whole idea behind the brand is to inspire women to prepare better for motherhood. Jenny says that as a medical professional, she really sees a need for this. Women are drowning in overwhelm and are going to be benefit from being better prepared. Sunit says she is here to serve anyone for whom motherhood is in the near future. Or if you're a new mom who might be starting to feel overwhelmed. Dads too. Sunit says she coaches women to include the partner in everything and this includes this podcast. this podcast is for anyone for whom PARENTHOOD is int he near furtuere. Every week Sunit will interview guests who are experts in their field-Sunit coaches to pillars of motherhood-the self, the partner, the past the present and the future-and she will have guests on who address various facets of these pillars. Sunit says women get caught up in the same things when they get pregnant-baby names, nurseries etc. And they forget to address the stuff that REALLY matters. Jenny says that the way this is being done is sure to “produce” amazing mothers. She is very excited for this! Jenny asks how listeners can support Sunit. Sunit says “sharing is caring”-if you listen to the episode and you think someone will benefit, just share and listen. Subscribe. Download. Jenny says never underestimate the power you have as a listener to share with someone who may not know about it but could really use it. Sunit says this is even more than a movement-she wants to stop the cycle of overwhelm and you never know how you might be helping someone. Maybe even a new mom who is struggling. Jenny says yes “never rob somebody of the blessing of experiencing this”. Sunit says she is going to have a guest on who lost her best friend to PPD and this is bigger than anything-it affects women on many different levels and can affect lives and families. Sunit wants her listeners to know that she is an open book-she has twin 4 year old boys and an amazing and supportive husband who is encouraging her to pursue MMPS the brand and she is excited for the future of this brand and future collaboration with Blossom to be Fit.
