[Free 1st Half] The Forest : Healing Mind, Body and Soul

Inelia Benz

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 16, 2025 32:48

Note: this is a re-run of episode 209Healing has become a big topic for me in the past few months.I have seen a return to the healing lineages of my ancestors and the direct orchestration of healing and healers coming together to practice their skills. When I looked at 2024, for the light side of the split, I saw that healing was going to enter our awareness and lives strongly this year, but it still took me by surprise when my own healing skills popped up again to be utilized. I have been diligent in making sure that they stayed unfocused since 2010 as it was made very clear to me that my public role was not as a healer, but as educator. In September 2024, I will be holding a Healers' Workshop at the Shamanshack. The workshop will be open for WalkWithMeNow.com members only and has a minimum attendance number of 8 people, and maximum of 33 people. If you are interested in attending, join the student body at walkwithmenow.com, and follow the information on how to register there.Back to our topic, the Forest.Larry and I live in the Olympic Rain Forest. Not in a town nearby, or a road by the side of the forest. We literally live inside the forest, surrounded by hundreds of acres of both old growth and tree farms. Some years ago, one of our friends visited us. She was an established healer at a nearby city at the time and, unbeknownst to me, she was having health and personal issues herself. We went for a hike into the forest. I wanted to show her a natural altar which Larry, myself and other friends and students had embellished with crystals, rocks and other pretty things. The hike to get to the altar was about half an hour long. We walked and talked about our latest happenings, previous lives memories, aliens, sasquatch and all the other things that are normal conversation among our friends here.At some point, halfway there, she stopped, took a few deep breaths and tears welled in her eyes. “I haven't felt this good in years,” she stated.“I had heard of the healing properties of the forest,” she continued, “but had never experienced it myself. It was all theoretical to me until now.”She then revealed to me that apart from her life's stresses, there was an underlying medical condition that had been getting worse. She said that it felt like the condition was actively being healed during our hike, and that she would get some lab work done when she got home, to be sure.I nodded and looked around at the forest. I had never heard of such a thing as the forest being a healing modality, but my friend was a professional healer and more informed than I was about healing modalities and experiences. The forest didn't feel any different to me. It was the same as it had always been, just there, breathing, living, beautiful, bright, pristine and, very much, sentient.I closed my eyes and tapped into it, and asked the forest around us about the healing. What I got back was an energy that I can only describe as “what is healing?”After my friend left, I did a bit of research on the internet and found several theories of how the healing force of a forest works. But, I have met plenty of locals, who also live in the forest, that are not exactly healthy. I understood, from my own healing knowledge, that it is not enough to be in the forest, or go to a healer, or take supplements, to have spontaneous or gradual healings. I understood that there was more to it than that. And it involves a healing story, perhaps a healer, and perhaps a modality that the person respects and has good effects on him or her.My friend got back to me a few weeks later and told me that her suspicions were right, that the tests had come back and that her condition was in remission. She also told me that after our visit, she had taken some radical life decisions which removed many stressors from her daily life.“The forest healed more than just my body,” she told me.In a recent healing story, for a different person, the wisdom of my ancestors came in again. It hadn't made an appearance for decades, but there it was. On the day of the healing, I woke up with the knowledge I had from childhood, that for the healing to be effective, I had to clear my energy field, body and mind to be absolutely pristine. And I understood. The forest, especially a loved forest, has a pure and pristine energy. And behind that pristine energy, there is unlimited life force, power and intelligence. A person, a human, can then direct that power with intent. In my novel series, The Return, I speak about how we and trees and plants are part of the same species. That where there are humans, flora exist. And where there is flora, humans exist. Our intelligence is very similar, also. As is our true, natural, frequency.Recently, a scientific study came out telling of how plants are highly related, at a genetic level, to humans. A percentage and relationship that was much higher than previously thought.I smiled, looked outside my window, into the forest, and winked. It winked back. The discussion doesn't stop here - listen to the full podcast episode for unfiltered insights from Inelia and our panelists. What up, Beasts. This episode of Unveiling the Beast was pure soul fuel. I sat down with the radiant Tylynn Mackenzie, a modern day medicine woman whose healing powers stretch across lifetimes, literally. From massage therapy and Reiki to past life regressions and astrology, Tylynn's work is all about helping people peel back the layers of pain, trauma, and old patterns to uncover their truest selves. And y'all know that speaks to my whole brand. Those protective layers we build up over time? She's helping people shed them with intention and grace. Her story of escaping an abusive relationship, discovering massage as a path to heal her own body, and then letting that path crack open all her other spiritual gifts? Goosebumps. Straight-up goosebumps. We also got real about postpartum healing, how our society fails moms, and why self-care isn't a luxury, it's survival. Tylynn reminded us that healing is never one size fits all. It's layered, it's messy, and it's sacred. She beautifully explained how modalities like Reiki and astrology aren't just “woo,” they're tools for self-discovery and empowerment. And listen, if you've ever felt like your soul's been here before, her take on past lives and soul patterns might just blow your mind wide open. This episode was like a warm hug, a wake-up call, and a cosmic pep talk all in one. So if you're feeling stuck, disconnected, or just curious about what your body's trying to say, this is your sign to tune in and start unveiling your own beast. As always, I hope something lands with you today. I hope something you hear tugs at your heart strings and/or I hope you laugh.Bio: Tylynn Mackenzie is on a mission to experience radiance in her body, mind, and soul while helping her fellow humans shine at their fullest capacity as well through a variety of modalities. She is a multifaceted healer- a massage therapist, a reiki master, an astrologer, a tarot reader, a yomassage teacher, an akashic records reader, a past life regressionist and a modern day vision singer practicing shamanic techniques. In 2015, massage therapy school was her catalyst into the world of healing. She graduated in May of 2016 and has been on her healing journey ever since! She is trained in Swedish massage, deep tissue, trigger point release, prenatal, gua sha, cupping, reflexology and energy healing. She utilizes her intuitive gifts of clairsentiance and clairvoyance with all of the modalities she practices. The more awareness humanity has of our divinity, of our soul purpose, of our karmic imprints, and of our innate gifts, the more our world heals. In this episode of The Backyard Naturalists, Debbie and Laurie welcome Melanie Choukas-Bradley, a certified nature and forest therapy guide, author, and naturalist, to explore the art and science of forest bathing. Originating in Japan as "shinrin-yoku," forest bathing is the practice of immersing oneself in nature to reap significant physical and mental health benefits.   Melanie explains how this practice, introduced in the 1980s, has been proven to lower blood pressure, boost immunity, improve sleep, and reduce stress. She shares how Washington, D.C.—with its abundant parks and tree canopy—offers an ideal setting for connecting with nature and highlights initiatives to expand green spaces in underserved areas.   Listeners will learn what a forest bathing walk entails, from disconnecting from devices to engaging all five senses with the natural world. Melanie emphasizes that forest bathing is accessible to everyone, whether solo or in groups, and can even be practiced in local parks or backyards.   The episode wraps up with book recommendations for nature enthusiasts and practical advice on incorporating forest bathing techniques into daily life. Join us as we explore how regular contact with nature can transform well-being and deepen our connection with the world around us.   If you have ideas for topics that you'd like us to pursue, send us a message either on our Facebook page or our website. The Fasting Highway

Bio By Christine Field Rhode Island USA I have been intermittent fasting for just under seven years, in addition to trying countless other methods of weight loss. Not all those years were successful because I was doing it wrong and cheating the system. Well, cheating myself is more like it.  Initially, I did it wrong. Unclean. Uneducated about how to properly fast, etc., the same things you hear your guests say. I have been overweight my entire life. As a child, I was always the biggest one. I believe that I suffer from insulin issues that go undetected through typical medicine. I have strong reactions to sugar to this day. It's awful. And I still hope to get it out of my life entirely someday.  My highest weight was 358 pounds. My current weight is 178. I am 5'8”. I went from a size 26 Womens to a size 6. It's genuinely UNREAL to live in this body.  A couple years ago, I bought Gin's book and started listening to her podcasts. That led me to your podcast. Although I love you both, I relate more to your life story in some ways.  I clean fast every day. I have been doing this for about 3 years now. I give myself a 4-6 hour window. I now incorporate two days of shorter fasts because I was getting too thin for my frame.  My tastes have changed. My life has changed.  Fasting reconnected me with life again. Taking the food away and all the accompanying noise put me in a place of openness and readiness to live my best life. I glow. I wake up every day ready to tackle life. I started noticing that the later I ate, the less refreshed I woke up, even if I had fasted.  You often speak about how your weight affects your parenting. I resonate with that deeply because I have three sporty children. I coach basketball. I run a football league. I want to be agile and fit. I want to be a great example of health and fitness to them and other children as well. I am that now.  Since our last talk, I break my fast most days with fermented food. I crave it now if I don't have it. STRANGE! I follow that up with a protein, then vegetables, then carbs.  I am imperfect. I accept that much now. There is no perfect plan. You live and do your best and that's what I do. I do not kill myself working out anymore. This is also new. I set a step goal for myself and enjoy walks whenever I can. I also do a strength video every other day. I fit it in wherever I can.  Another new tip- I've stopped thinking so much about what I don't feel like doing. I just do it. The thinking screws me all up!! Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. It has been great for all who have joined.
