In this episode, I'm joined by professional organizer and life coach Tracy Hoth to explore why letting go of clutter feels so hard, why decision-making can feel emotionally heavy, and how to declutter in a calmer, more supportive way without pressure or overwhelm. Decluttering isn't just about tidying your home. It's about the decisions you make every single day. What to keep. What to let go of.What feels heavy. And what you are quietly carrying for your future self and your family. If decluttering feels exhausting, emotional, or overwhelming, there is nothing wrong with you. Most people struggle not because they lack motivation, but because letting go of clutter brings up identity, guilt, fear, and pressure to get it right. How do you declutter without second-guessing every decision? And how do you organize your home in a way that actually supports your life, instead of adding more stress? In this conversation, we talk about decluttering and organizing from a completely different angle. One that is intentional, compassionate, and realistic. No extremes. No rushing. No pressure to downsize your whole life. This episode will help you rethink home organization, understand why clutter feels so emotionally loaded, and explore declutter strategies that work with your nervous system instead of against it.Because creating an organized home is not about perfection. It's about making your space feel lighter, calmer, and easier to live in.For you, and for your family. You'll hear about gentle ways to start tidying when you feel stuck, how to make decisions with less stress, and why overcoming overwhelm starts with how you see yourself, not how much you own.If you've been craving a calmer approach to organizing, this episode will help you take the first step without pushing yourself too far.Links and resources mentionedYou can find Tracy Hoth and her work here:

About Patrick Van der Burght: Patrick van der Burght is an international expert in ethical persuasion, influence, and decision-making. He is a business partner of Dr. Robert Cialdini—author of Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion—and a founding member of the Cialdini Institute, the only active, licensed Cialdini Institute worldwide.A certified influence specialist and trainer across Australia and New Zealand, Patrick has spent over two decades teaching professionals how to persuade ethically, accelerate results, and build stronger relationships across sales, leadership, marketing, and team environments. He is also the co-author of How to Hear “Yes” More Often (2024) and host of the podcast Ethical Persuasion Unlocked. In this episode, Jennie and Patrick Van der Burght discuss:Why persuasion is not manipulation—and how ethical influence creates lasting behavior changeThe science of decision-making through Daniel Kahneman's System One and System Two thinkingWhy selling feels harder today as attention spans continue to shrinkHow logical arguments often fail to move people toward actionWhy Dr. Cialdini's principles of persuasion act as decision triggers rather than sales tactics Key Takeaways:Persuasion isn't about pushing—it's about prompting. The most powerful influence happens when people feel, “I chose this,” not “I was sold this.”Your brain's autopilot (System One) makes most decisions. If your message is 100% logic and data, it's speaking to the 5% that decides the least.Attention is today's scarcest resource. In a world of pings, pop-ups, and endless scroll, there's rarely enough focus left to run deep, analytical thinking. When sales conversations rely only on rational explanations, they often create indecision rather than clarity.Ethical persuasion activates the right mental shortcuts so people can decide faster, with confidence, and without regret.“I would argue that a lot of those no's aren't actually no's. In this episode, Jenna sits down with Master Coach Caryn Gillen for a deep, relatable and accessible conversation on how knowing your values shifts the way you make decisions, run your business, and experience all your relationships. If you've ever felt selfish for protecting your time, guilty for doing things your way, or frustrated that you're not being understood-- this is for you.Caryn explains how truly living in alignment with your values takes guts because it inherently requires not making everyone else happy. Today I'm joined by the brilliant Beth Greenacre, a curator, advisor, and art consultant whose career has unfolded quietly but powerfully at the centre of the art world. Beth began working with David Bowie in her twenties and went on to oversee the care, exhibition, and eventual sale of his collection, revealing a deeply personal way of looking, collecting and living with art. Since then, she's built a long-term, trust-led portfolio career advising private collectors, working with artists and estates, and curating exhibitions. In this conversation, we talk about how collectors really make decisions, how intuition is really deeply embodied knowledge and why holding work back can be an act of integrity. This is a rare, generous look inside how the art world actually works, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! KEY TAKEAWAYS Be present. Build relationships patiently. Share your work carefully. Trust that confidence is learned, not bestowed. Quality reveals itself over time, through deep looking, honest editing, and the courage to hold work back until it is ready to speak. Artists are not failing when recognition comes slowly. They're building something with roots. Working with David Bowie taught Beth that confidence isn't about hierarchy or bravado. It's about shared commitment, deep listening, and respect for the work. BEST MOMENTS “My purpose is to acknowledge, celebrate and give space to the power of art to change people's perspectives.” “Nothing meaningful in the art world is built quickly. Not confidence. Not collections. Not trust.” EPISODE RESOURCES https://www.bethgreenacre.com https://www.instagram.com/bethgreenacre_london PODCAST HOST BIO With over 35 years in the art world, Ceri has worked closely with leading artists and arts professionals, managed public and private galleries and charities, and curated more than 250 exhibitions and events. We're taught that smart people get the right answer. The gold star. The A+. But Bobby Parmar, professor of business administration at the University of Virginia and author of Radical Doubt: Turning Uncertainty into Surefire Success, argues that this conditioning sabotages our most important decisions. In this episode, Bobby shares why doubt isn't the enemy of good decision-making, it's the foundation. He reveals how to shift from being a “right answer getter” to becoming a “better answer maker,” and the framework he uses to help executives embrace uncertainty as a strategic advantage. You'll learn why embracing doubt can unlock better decisions for you and why the best investors treat uncertainty as their superpower. In this encore episode, I'm teaching you how to make decisions with clarity, confidence, and self-trust — especially when the stakes feel high and the fear of "getting it wrong" feels paralyzing. If you've ever second-guessed yourself, stayed stuck in indecision, or looked outside yourself for answers you already have, this conversation is for you. I walk you through a simple three-step decision-making process: exploring your options, deciding deliberately, and then committing — again and again — even when your brain wants to panic or pull you backward. I explain why indecision often feels safer to our brains, how to recognize when fear is driving your choices, and how to reconnect with your wise, grounded self so you can move forward with intention. I also share personal examples, including one of the hardest decisions of my life, and how learning to trust myself changed everything. You don't need perfect certainty to decide — you just need self-honesty and the willingness to follow through. Key takeaways: Indecision keeps you stuck, even when it feels safer You can learn to trust your own judgment again Commitment builds confidence over time Cast Not Away Therefore Your Confidence by Jeffrey R. Text your thoughts and questions! One of the most common things I hear from clients and listeners isn't “I don't know what to do,” it's “I can't decide what to do.” We know what's on our overwhelming task list, but prioritizing, selecting, and making sure we're doing the right thing at the right time is exhausting. Decision fatigue is real and can lead to burnout faster than you realize. This week, on episode 293 of the Positively LivingⓇ Podcast, I'm sharing five simple filters to help you make decisions! In this episode of the Positively LivingⓇ Podcast, I explain why decision fatigue is the silent battery drainer of your life and share five simple filters you can use to make decisions without burning yourself out. The five filters I cover in this episode include:Choosing a word of the year as your big-picture lens for assessing every decision. Using theme days and time blocks to create “buckets” for your tasks.Acknowledging the season of life you're in and adjusting your expectations to match.Checking in on your physical, emotional, and mental bandwidth before making a commitment (matching your energy to the task).Living your values (values in action) and aligning what you do and when to reflect what truly matters. You don't have to reinvent the wheel every time you have to choose. By setting up these simple filters, you can stop spinning your wheels and start focusing on what truly matters. We're taught that great decision-making is about logic—more pros/cons, more research, more certainty. But neuroscience tells a different story: we don't decide with logic alone. We decide with emotion. And when you're struggling to choose, it's often because you're trying to avoid an uncomfortable feeling—regret, failure, judgment, disappointment, uncertainty. In this episode, I break down why analysis paralysis happens, why waiting to feel confident is a trap, and how to make decisions from self-trust instead of fear. You'll walk away with a simple 3-step framework to help you decide faster, cleaner, and with way more peace. In this episode:Why decision-making isn't driven by logic—it's driven by emotionThe real reason you procrastinate decisions (and what “thinking about it” usually means)How avoided emotions turn into analysis paralysis and self-doubtWhy “Is this the right decision?” is the question that keeps you stuckA new definition of confidence: self-trust, not certaintyThe hidden cost of choosing “not now” (and why indecision is still a decision)A 3-step decision framework you can use immediately: your why → normalize discomfort → choose growthIf you're craving a real reset—one that actually changes how you live (not just how you plan)—join one of my New Year's Retreats:✨ If you're in Kelowna and want a full embodied reset, join in-person:Pranify Yoga on January 1, 2026, to ring in the New Year with movement, mindfulness, reflection, and visioning. Get Goat Wise | Homestead Livestock, Raising Goats, Chickens, Off-grid living
Regenerative agriculture can feel like a buzzword, a badge, or a list of practices you're supposed to follow. But in real life, and especially in a challenging climate, regeneration is a process of learning, comparing ideas against your own environment, testing small changes, observing what your land and animals are telling you, and adjusting as you go. In this episode, I'm sharing the decision-making loop we use on our ranch with both goats and cattle, and why I see multi-species grazing as a long-term benefit—even though it adds complexity in the beginning. I also walk through our big-picture goal of reducing supplemental hay by extending the grazing season, and the real constraints we have to work within, like limited moisture, fragile pasture, frozen ground, predators, and wildlife pressure. You'll hear how we're approaching water infiltration and soil building in a dry climate, why we're testing straw bales to slow runoff first, and what we've already observed from years of intensive rotational grazing, chicken tractors, and summer bale grazing. I also explain why certain popular practices don't translate well to goat management in our conditions—and how we adapt without abandoning the principles. In This Episode, I Cover: Why regenerative agriculture is a process, not a destination The decision-making loop: Learn → Compare Context → Clarify Goals → Test → Observe → Adjust → Repeat How to learn from other producers without copy-pasting their practices Shifting from “this won't work in my climate” to “how do these principles apply here?” Why nature is the best teacher and how to use observation as your guide Our big-picture goal: reducing hay by extending spring and fall grazing The resource bottleneck in dry country: water infiltration and water-holding capacity Why soil cover and organic matter are critical in moisture-limited environments Using straw bales to slow runoff as a low-risk way to test water flow paths What we've observed after 5 years of intensive rotational grazing The forage improvements we've seen from chicken tractors and summer bale grazing Why winter bale grazing is risky/not feasible for us right now (electric netting in frozen ground, elk pressure) A winter feeding strategy that works within predator pressure and management reality A soil-building feeding approach we're preparing to test (and why snow cover matters) Why we're not buying a no-till drill right now—and what we want in place first Why starting with annuals can make sense before investing in expensive perennial seed Key Takeaways: Regenerative practices aren't universal—principles transfer, but application must fit your climate and animals. Nature is the best teacher: observation turns theory into real management decisions. Start with clear goals and real constraints, then break big objectives into small, testable steps. Moisture-limited land requires prioritizing water infiltration, water-holding capacity, and soil cover. Testing small and reversible ideas (like straw bales) can prevent expensive mistakes. Multi-species grazing is a long-term benefit, but it adds complexity—especially in the beginning. “Not yet” is a valid answer on tools and investments; timing matters. Progress comes from repeated cycles of learning, testing, observing, and adjusting—not from perfection. Get Goat Wise | Homestead Livestock, Raising Goats, Chickens, Off-grid living
This week on the ranch, we've got our young hens working half the barn, scratching through the bedding and cleaning up after the goats. They're doing what chickens do best—turning packed areas into loose, manageable bedding. Watching them work reminded me how often I get asked whether goats and chickens can safely live together, so that's what we're diving into today. In this episode, I'm breaking down the real benefits of keeping goats and chickens together, the legitimate risks you need to manage, and the simple guidelines that make mixed housing safe. I'm also sharing what the newest research says about coccidia—specifically whether chickens can give it to goats—and how to decide if this setup is right for your farm or homestead. At the end of the episode, I'll give you a quick preview of next week's topic where we're going deep into coccidia: what it is, how it works, why some strains are more dangerous, and the management shifts that helped us break the cycle of coccidiosis in our own herd. In This Episode, I Cover: Why goats and chickens can safely share space How chickens help disrupt goat parasite cycles The barn-cleanup advantage of having chickens around goats The #1 rule of mixed housing: keep goats out of chicken feed What modern research really says about coccidia and species-specific strains When mixed housing becomes risky How to set up a safe, low-stress environment for both species When you should NOT mix species—especially if anyone is sick Key Takeaways: Chickens do not give goats coccidiosis. The strains are species specific. Goats getting into chicken feed is the biggest danger—and it's completely preventable. Dry bedding, enough space, and clean feeding areas make mixed housing much safer. Some diseases can move between species, so never mix sick animals. With the right setup, mixed species can simplify chores and support parasite management. Related Episodes: 06 | What Livestock Should I Get First? Ed Arnold, founder and managing partner at The Valorizer, brings decades of hands-on experience building customer value models, teaching value conversations, and guiding companies toward value-based pricing. After working directly with Tom Nagle at Monitor Group and leading value initiatives at LeveragePoint, Forrester, and Ibbaka, Ed has become one of the most respected practitioners of Economic Value Estimation (EVE) in B2B. In this episode, Ed and Mark dive deep into what "value" actually means, why B2B buyers define it differently than sellers, and how to quantify economic outcomes in a way that withstands scrutiny. They debate value vs. willingness to pay, unpack why value stories outperform case studies, and explore how real conversations—not spreadsheets—unlock premium pricing. Why You Have to Check Out Today's Episode: Master the real meaning of "value" in B2B—and why most companies still get it wrong. Discover how to run a value conversation that reveals economic impact and customer priorities. Learn how to turn EVE models into persuasive value stories your buyers can resell internally. "You need to quantify the value of the product you're selling—and you need to talk to customers about that to understand it and write their value story." — Ed Arnold Topics Covered: 05:09 – Value Perception in B2B: Why Customers Decide with Both Logic and Emotion 08:34 – Value vs. Willingness to Pay: The Debate Begins 12:06 – Why Willingness to Pay Is Not Value (And What It Actually Measures) 19:04 – Value Perception in B2B Sales: Influence, Trust, and Risk 20:41 – Value Is Always Relative (And Why Alternative Choices Change Everything) 24:26 – Value-Based vs. Competitor Pricing: Why They Aren't the Same Thing 28:03 – Value Story vs. Case Study: What Buyers Actually Need to Make Decisions 32:47– Quantifying Product Value: How to Build a Story Buyers Can Take to Their Executives Key Takeaways: "Value comes from use, not purchase." — Ed Arnold "Willingness to pay is not value, if it were, we'd never talk about leaving money on the table." — Ed Arnold "In B2B, value is 80% logic, 20% emotion." — Ed Arnold "A value story is customized. A case study is generic." — Ed Arnold "You can't build a value story without having a value conversation first." — Ed Arnold "Sometimes the value model reveals there simply isn't a differentiated advantage—and you have to accept that." — Ed Arnold People and Resources Mentioned: Tom Nagle: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thomas-tom-nagle LeveragePoint: https://www.leveragepoint.com/ Reed Holden: https://www.linkedin.com/in/reed-holden-913ab69/ Connect with Ed Arnold: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/edarnold1/ Newsletter: https://edarnold1.substack.com/ Connect with Mark Stiving: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stiving/ Email: mark@impactpricing.com

We're in the midst of an AI gold rush. Every corner of healthcare is racing to harness generative AI for productivity and cost savings. But here's the catch: healthcare isn't Silicon Valley. The mantra of “move fast and break things” doesn't work in a high-risk, complex environment. When it comes to AI in healthcare, safety and effectiveness must come before speed. This week on Radio Advisory, guest host and Advisory Board digital health expert Ty Aderhold sits down with David Woods, Mike Rayo, and Dane Morey from the Cognitive Systems Engineering Lab at The Ohio State University. Drawing on new research about how AI changes human decision-making, they unpack the risks and realities of AI in healthcare, challenge common misconceptions, and ask critical questions—like whether AI can recognize and communicate its own errors. Bottom line: There is no risk-free use of AI in healthcare. To truly evaluate safety and effectiveness, leaders must assess AI-human systems as a whole—not in isolation. Plus, stay tuned for an update on the end of the longest government shut down in U.S. history, and the healthcare programs (still) caught in the crosshairs. Hi friends! Today we're talking about the transition from conventional agriculture and livestock production to a regenerative or restorative system. I spent two days in the truck, listening to Will Harris' book, A Bold Return to Giving a Damn, and it gave me some great insights into the decades-long journey of White Oak Pastures, as well as a look into the future of our ranch. If you're considering a production system that is closer to nature's design or if you're in the messy middle like we are, this episode will help you see the possibilities, problems, and the beautiful potential. Over 50% of the population has Emotional Authority in Human Design—yet most of us were never taught how to use it. Instead, we've been conditioned to make quick decisions, push down our feelings, and power through. That conditioning often leads to buyer's remorse, misaligned programs, and business moves that drain us.In this episode of Unjaded, Vickie sits down with Barb Orozco, a 3/5 Emotional Projector, to talk about what it really looks like to wait for clarity, to sit with a decision, and to know when it's finally time to jump in. Barb shares openly about her conditioning around mistakes (“I am the mistake”), the pain of not being seen, and how Human Design has been the ultimate permission slip. She also takes us behind her decision-making process in joining Content by Design (CBD)—why she initially held back, how she “did her emotional homework” by immersing in Vickie's world, and the exact moment when her clarity came. If you've ever wondered whether you're “doing emotional authority right,” this conversation is a must-listen.Barb's unique work with photos and stories is unprecedented and she shares with us how her work is changing lives and how ready she is to expand her business by deconditioning her wounded voice. This episode is about trusting your design, deconditioning old patterns, and making business decisions that feel good long after you click ‘buy.'In this episode:Why Emotional Authorities aren't meant to make quick decisionsWhat it actually feels like in the body when clarity arrivesHow Barb moved from “I am the mistake” to embracing her third-line roleThe process of saying yes to CBD—and why emotional homework mattersThe power of immersing in someone's world before you investWhy sales pressure tactics don't work for emotional authorities (and what does)The relief of realizing “I'm not wrong—I'm designed this way”Join the event of the season - the one that changes EVERYTHING in your business because you'll finally understand exactly how to speak so that your soul fit clients can hear you - and hire you! This only happens twice a year. It's FREE!It's 3 Days Live in the room with me showing you how to leverage your Human Design to bring your message to live so that you bring paying clients in with ease - and joy!Register here.https://www.vickiedickson.com/live-masterclass-registerGuestBarb Orozco — 3/5 Emotional Projector, story-keeper, and disruptor of the “scrapbook” photo industry. We make thousands of decisions every day, but under pressure, those choices become harder, and more important. When I first came across Dr. Sabrina Cohen-Hatton's story, what struck me wasn't just what she's achieved, it's how she thinks under pressure. In this episode, I unpack a habit I took from her years on the frontline of the fire service, one that has helped her make life-or-death decisions and one we can all use in our everyday lives. It's a habit built not on instinct or speed, but on clarity.Sabrina taught me that when we freeze under pressure, it's rarely because we don't care, it's because we care so much, we don't want to get it wrong. Whether you're managing a team, making a personal change, or just trying to feel less overwhelmed in high-stakes situations, this conversation will help you understand how to make better choices under pressure, and why the smartest leaders aren't the fastest, they're the most prepared. We explore:How fear disrupts our thinkingWhy we freeze in critical momentsThe power of the pauseA decision-making tool you can use todayWhat it means to lead with clarity, not just speedThis one's for anyone facing the hard calls, and wanting to meet them with confidence. Here is more information on the studies referenced: Stress and cognitive flexibility: The role of the prefrontal cortex, (Arnsten, A.F.T 2009)Decision Fatigue Exhausts Self-Regulatory Resources, (Baumeister, R.F., Vohs, K.D., et al 1998) Stress Promotes Habit-Based Behavior (Schwabe, L., Wolf, O.T, 2009)The Timing of Stress and Decision-Making (Pabst, S., Brand, M., Wolf, O.T, 2013)Listen to the full episode with Sabrina Cohen-Hatton: https://pod.fo/e/18cd7c
