The Lizzie Ens Show In this empowering and insightful episode of The Lizzie Ens Show, your host, Lizzie Ens, a Functional Nutrition Practitioner with a passion for holistic wellness, sits down with Dr. Jamie Gilliam, a distinguished Integrative Practitioner, to delve deep into the pervasive impact of conditioning on every facet of our lives. Together, they unravel the intricate ways in which conditioning—rooted in societal norms, familial expectations, and personal experiences—shapes not only our mental and emotional states but also leaves a profound imprint on our physical health and spiritual well-being. Dr. Gilliam brings her extensive expertise in integrative health to the conversation, offering a unique perspective that combines mind-body practices with a deep understanding of how conditioning can manifest in chronic stress, anxiety, and even physical ailments. Through this discussion, Lizzie and Dr. Gilliam aim to uncover the hidden influences that conditioning exerts on our daily lives, often dictating our choices, limiting our potential, and keeping us from living authentically. Jamie Gilliam is a board certified holistic and integrative medicine practitioner specializing in healing the body from the inside out. Jamie is the founder of JG Wellness Clinic, and she is an expert in thyroid function, hormone health, autoimmune disease and weight management. Jamie transitioned from the fitness industry to healthcare after her own experience with thyroid cancer, cervical cancer, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's, Lupus and menopause. Her struggles were ignored by multiple doctors, and the response every visit was, “Your labs are normal; you are fine.” Jamie chose to take control of her own health to be able to live again, and she now helps people around the world with proper treatment protocols for their individual health needs. She believes treating the body as a whole and understanding root cause of symptoms is the key to healing and being symptom free. https://www.jgwellnessclinic.com ~ More About The Lizzie Ens Show ~  Board Certified Functional Nutrition Practitioner, Holistic Health Coach, Personal Trainer, Author, Speaker, Podcast and Radio Host and Global Social Media celebrity. I'm Not Fine with Lizzie Ens Ever feel like you are just not made out for hard challenges in life? What if I told you the answer is already within you and you do have what it takes. In this episode, we're tackling the concept of mental fitness, drawing parallels to physical fitness. Just as we train our bodies to lift weights, mental fitness equips us to handle life's challenges, or as I like to call it, "life weight." Imagine your mind as a muscle—how much weight can it handle? From tight work deadlines to conflicts with colleagues, and personal responsibilities like finances and family matters, life throws a lot at us. But by strengthening our mental muscles, we boost our emotional resilience, making it easier to navigate these challenges and reducing the impact of stress and anxiety on both our professional and personal lives. Join me, Lizzie Ens, a Functional Nutrition Practitioner, along with my guest DJ Logory, as we delve into the realm of mental fitness. We'll explore practical ways to apply this concept to your life right now, paving the way for a clearer, stronger mental life. These insights will translate into your day-to-day experiences, empowering you to manage hard times and stress more effectively. Tune in for a journey towards a healthier mind and a more balanced life! DJ Logory is the Co-Founder of Acres of Diamonds mental fitness and leadership company and host of the Libraries and Weight Rooms Podcast. DJ has been coaching young men and business professionals since the age of 24 by helping them become more mentally fit, a way of training our thinking in a similar fashion to how we train a physical muscle. DJ is a certified Heroic coach that focuses on eating, moving, and sleeping and helps young men in their 20's stop being confused men in their 20's. Hello and welcome to the Becoming Ageless podcast where we talk about all things related to increasing healthspan and flourishing in mid-life & beyond ! I can't express how excited I am to get this party started and grow a thriving community! And, on this very first show, I want to take an opportunity to tell you more about me, my story and to share my mission for this show, WHICH is to help YOU uncover strategies of staying healthy, vibrant, full of energy, to increase healthspan and make this second stage of life, the VERY BEST STAGE OF LIFE! I am Robynn Lin Fredericks, your host and creator/producer of the Becoming Ageless podcast and I am a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner and Integrative and Functional Nutrition Practitioner, based in Northern California and I believe in being ageless and living AGELESSLY! Being AGELESS is not “just” about a wrinkle, although the skin is an important organ of the body and the immune system and needs to be taking care of it, it's also not about being 20 again... Been there, done that...I have no intention of going back! It IS about living life to its fullest and to its healthiest without a number dictating what our life or our health should look like. According to the World Health Organization, the average life expectancy in the US is 79 years old and the average “healthy life expectancy” is 63 years old. So according to these numbers, the average American will live up to 20% of their lives in an unhealthy and diseased state. As you'll learn, on this podcast, HEALTHSPAN is the foundation of our conversations! I talk with the very people who study various pieces of health, longevity, mindset, fitness and even skin, as well as a few inspirational people that are living it out, sharing their secrets! We'll be breaking down the complicated science and uncovering the strategies for healthier living! And in every episode, we're going to give you at least 3 actions that you can take immediately to make positive changes in your and your family's health! So sit back and tune in! Be ready to write down some inspirational nuggets you may hear and let's all grow ageless, together! If you have permission to explore again, what would you do? what do you want? what does your body need? Accepting support, and giving yourself permission to feel pleasure, are important steps to satisfying our individual wants and needs. At times, however, we may feel disconnected from these internal cues and forget how to reconnect with our feelings of lust and pleasure. Robyn Spens — Hypnotherapist, Coach, Functional Nutrition Practitioner, and Member National Council Psychotherapist — joins us on today's episode to talk about how she explores feelings of intimacy and teaches women how to reconnect with their sexual selves. Through both hypnotherapy and coaching, Robyn works with high-achieving women to teach them how to practice sexual self-care, including realigning with their sexual wellbeing. She highlights the need to understand how the power of the brain and the words we tell ourselves to have an immense impact on our behaviour. Moreover, how addictions can inhibit our ability to reconnect with our feelings of pleasure. In her work, Robyn emphasizes the need to begin opening ourselves up to the potential for possibility and sexual desire, rather than shutting our bodies down. Listen in to learn more about how to focus on your body's wants and needs, how to incorporate breath work, finding ways to reconnect with yourself and reconnect with your sexual wellness. Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform. Topics Covered:Aging and its effects on experiencing pleasureLearning how to focus on your body's wants and needsMoving away from alcohol as a lubricant to experience pleasureFinding ways to reconnect with yourself and reconnect with your sexual wellnessResources Mentioned:Wired for Pleasure | tonyrobbins.comJaiya Ma on Desire, Seduction, and Embracing Your Erotic BlueprintRobyn Spens's WebsiteWoman by Kaz Riley, “How to understand and embrace your sexual pleasure”Come as You Are by Emily Nagoski Ph.D,  “The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life”Kim Amani, Sex and Relationship CoachForia WellnessWe're on a mission to support lifelong sexual wellness and pleasure, rooted in the proven wisdom of plants. Toxic Beauty Standards to Avoid — Diane Kazer

Key Takeaways: Our bodies are designed to heal. We need to stay away from toxic beauty products and foods. Choose natural products; choose nature in all aspects of your life and do not buy into the information of what's being fed in the news. Toxic Beauty is birth control, breast implants, botox. Transformation changes so fast these days and there are so many things you can change in your body before it starts to die. You learn things from your suffering. Diane explains that 96% of women do not consider themselves beautiful. No wonder we have a toxic beauty epidemic. We are giving our power away to the false narrative that says we have to pay for all these artificial procedures. Diane's definition of beauty is looking at all the good things. Not only our body, face, and our breasts, but what is good in the world. What did God give us versus the things that need to be fixed? We just need to turn to nature to embrace all the imbalances and deformities. One size being bigger than the others does not mean it's not perfect. The depth of real beauty, and where it comes from, is in a person's heart and everything that they are experiencing. People don't think about or ask the question about what's blocking their beauty. Toxins and trauma are two of the biggest beauty blocks that prevent women from leaving a life of optimal health. We can't control everything but we can mitigate and protect our bodies from as much as possible. Fear could be a toxin or trauma category. Our bodies are sacred. It is the temple of God. All of us have genetically been carrying the shame and sadness from our ancestors. Different women have different challenges. Build what you're looking forward to and set intentions for the life you wanna build and what you want to offer the world. Me showing my face is my dedication to showing the world that I love my body. What makes me so different and how can I channel that? When you have the courage to stand up for yourself, your fears and frustrations start to fall away because you wake up with energy. Detoxing is one step in a whole system. The body can't just heal from one detox. Botox is the number one most toxic substance known to man. Choose a practitioner to support you in this journey. Choose someone who has experience, education, and most of all, empathy.   Episode Summary: Diane Kazer wants you to break out of the toxic beauty paradigm and shift into your authentic self that radiates inner beauty. Our society constantly reminds us why we're not enough, but don't let yourself stray from what God gives you: a beautiful body and soul. Find out more on this week's episode on how you can avoid toxic beauty norms and live a younger life!   Guest Bio: Diane Kazer is an X-Pro Soccer Player turned Coach to Health Coaches, Ego Slayer, and Functional Nutrition Practitioner with a background in yoga, personal training, and financial planning. Devon Baeza joins us today as we're digging self-sabotage and why this matters for fertility. By January 19th most of us have already given up our New Years' resolution. I know…my chip habit is back (gluten-free and organic but still…lol). And even if you are still pushing through you may be dealing with self-sabotage. We set the goal to eat better, get more sleep, exercise more, and work on our stress, and then life gets in the way…. and next thing we know we’re yelling at our partner, eating the processed foods, and up at 3 am scouring the internet looking for answers. And it all just feels exhausting. This quote by Jim Rohn sums it up “your life does not get better by chance, but by change”. That’s why our Fab Fertile Method includes a Functional Nutrition Practitioner (who develops a customized protocol) and a Fertility Coach (that helps you to implement the changes) so that you can fast track your chances of a successful pregnancy. What can you do to recognize and eliminate self-sabotage so that you can prepare for pregnancy success without wasting time? I'm excited to welcome Devon Baeza back to the podcast. Devon is the Fertility Finance Coach. She combines her degree in finance, years of fertility treatments, and master life coach training to help women make, save, and manifest money to fund their future family FAST.   In this episode you'll learn: 1) How to recognize self-sabotage and how to prevent it. 2) How do limiting beliefs impact us when we are trying to reach a goal and why does this matter if you are TTC. 3) What to do when our self worth has been attached to achievements. Dr Vaishnavi Sarathy is a Functional Nutrition Practitioner, a TedX speaker and Podcast Host. She is passionate about giving kids a fair chance at life through nutrition that sustains them, food that prevents autoimmunity, nutrients that boost brain function, and a digestive system that works with a thriving microbiome. That also means an equal education and assuming competence regardless of appearance.  Vaish is a Functional Nutrition Educator, with two Masters and a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry! Her life changed when her son was born with Down Syndrome and was later diagnosed as being Autistic. She explored conventional options for the first 4 years of his life including occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, communication therapy, horseback riding and doctors. Every practitioner she met told her that genetics could not be helped, and that she must resign to having a child who would experience extreme intellectual delay with minimal chances at life! She decided to train herself in nutrition. She knew how every kid could learn and that labels were mostly for the convenience of the system. Her son is 13, he does algebra, he writes poetry, and yes, he is still non-speaking! She believes that an equal accessible education and sound nutrition are the birthright of every child! In this episode, we dive into:  “Sleep & Children with Special Needs” Vaish's journey with her son who has Down's, Autism & Cerebral Palsy. The impact of disability and denial and the resultant loss of time to acceptance of his ability to thrive. Is sleep poor for children with disability? What is seen typically? Is it that they cannot fall asleep at all, or struggle to stay sleeping or do they have an unnatural rhythm? What are the four primary reasons why children with disabilities struggle with sleep? What are some of the practices that have not worked?  What is the popular sleep nutrient that may actually make sleep challenges worse in children with disabilities? When it comes to sleep supplements, can method of usage actually make sleep worse? You cannot even diagnose a child with learning disabilities if the child is not sleeping well. Sleep is critical. Is it the other way around as well, where poor sleep increases symptoms and behaviour challenges and learning? Where do you try and break that vicious cycle?  What are some of the practices that have worked more often than not? Does Dr Vaish see some sort of a pattern? Does she find herself intuitively knowing what will work at a specific time? How can other parents tune into that intuition? What can parents actually do to support their child's digestion?  How does Dr Vaish see sleep playing a big role in managing special needs in terms of symptom challenges, behaviour patterns, learning and more? What is the best sleep food plate for children with special needs that is sleep supportive? What is on that plate? Is there a difference between animal based and plant based diets for children with disabilities? What are some speciality diets for children with disabilities? What is the idea behind low carb diets for children with disability? What is the best tool to use for better sleep for children with disability? Dr Vaish's mantra is assume competence. What does it mean for a parent to assume competence? If sleep is the new medicine, then ………… Here are the links mentioned on the show: 1)Rhythmic Movement: https://www.moveplaythrive.com 2)Qigong: http://www.qsti.org For more on Dr Vaish Sarathy, you can follow her: Website: https://projectswasthya.com Podcast: https://projectswasthya.com/podcast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/functionalnutritionforkids Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drvaishsarathy/ -For more on Deepa, The Sleep Whisperer, be sure to follow her on Instagram @mysleepwhisperer and @phytothrive_yogini, on Facebook Deepa Kannan. Episode 091. "So, that work all the time productivity approach, it is very much embedded in our culture and our society. But it's not really how our nervous system is going to operate and be healthy. So, what can we do about that?" ~Brooke Seiz OK. I'm asking you to take a leap of faith with me in this episode. Don't worry, it's more an easy skip rather than a broad jump over shark-infested waters.  Creative imposter syndrome begins in the gut. Wut? The gut?? Yes. I've got back-up on this one. Brooke Seiz, a board-certified functional nutrition practitioner, believes that an unhealthy gut not only affects our physical health but also taxes our mental well-being. Symptoms of a gut imbalance manifest in complex ailments – think leaky gut, chronic fatigue, adrenal dysfunction, IBS. Even low-grade instances of these diseases have the power to curtail our natural affinity toward play and exploration, self-expression and (managed) risk. The result is a diminished ability to work and create to our fullest potential and truest nature, the happy, healthy opposite of an imposter.  Whew. That's a lot to digest (I couldn't resist!) Like, what even IS functional nutrition? Brooke's expertise and background in the arts come in handy when we're defining functional nutrition and discussing big concepts like the parasympathetic nervous system or the microbiome.  But Brooke isn't advocating for nutritional change only. Play is a natural component of healing, that child-like desire to engage in an activity with no structured outcome other than to have fun.  When was the last time you played at something? There's a lot to learn from Brooke's personal story of thwarted play, crippling stomach issues, and the realization that her authentic self was physically and emotionally impacted by her gut health.  The biggest take-away from our discussion is this: there really is something to our gut feelings and butterflies in the stomach and queasy tummies. When and how we choose to listen to these warnings could mean the difference between the impostor and our happy, healthy authentic selves.  Get the full show notes including all things Brooke Seiz at http://www.thecreativeimpostor.com/091 Join me at Podfest! So many of us get stuck in the Groundhog Day that is early motherhood. Isolation, depression, stress. Constant arguing over meals, sleep, and spilled non-dairy milk. Our guest today has done an amazing job of arming expecting mamas and, well ALL mamas really, with the ACTUAL tools it takes to be a mom. Sunit Suchdev is a living goddess guru mama! Sunit is a business and mindset coach with a passion for all things health and wellness. After receiving an undergraduate degree in health sciences, she spent the next 20 years of life dabbling in all sorts of industries but has always maintained a training and coaching component to everything she does. She is a certified life coach and meditation teacher and is finishing up her Functional Nutrition Practitioner certification. Sunit is fellow podcaster and host of "The High Vibe Life". She is the founder of the 40&Such movement which inspires women to enter their 40s the healthiest they've ever been. She wears many hats but her favorite is her mom hat. She is a mom to twin boys and loves being able to shape the future through her own parenting. Sunit takes us through how her business has morphed from its inception. As an “older” Mom of to twin boys at the age of thirty-seven, she watched women around her deal with motherhood. What she soon came to realize was that preparing for motherhood wasn't simply painting the nursery and having all the baby clothes ready. She really figured out the mindset and the true planning it takes to thrive in motherhood. She wasn't perfect but she felt that she had success considering she had twins so she wanted to pay it forward and help other moms. This is where Modern Mommy Prep School and her podcast was born from. In the beginning, it was all about new moms, as her audience grew up in motherhood so did the topics she would coach on. This summer her podcast rebranded to “The High Vibe Life”, as she now is passionate about all women living in their highest vibration regardless of whether they are a mom or not. At the end of the day, her heart lies with inspiring women to live their best life and create change in the future by raising good little humans and adjusting mindset. Sunit strongly feels that this cannot happen unless moms are coming from the best place possible. This is why she firmly believes that women should care for themselves first so they can show up for their kids. Sunit shares some of her tips in how to promote mindfulness and meditation in kids. She says that the secret is that kids more than anyone else are naturally mindful. The only thing that is going on in their brain is just being focussed on the moment and what they are doing. She claims that it is quite easy to get kids to meditate because they are already there in their brains most of the day and mindfulness is just one step away from meditation. She recommends starting as early as possible, with a picture or inanimate object. Here is an example: Show your kids a picture of a snowman, and say to them: “See this snowman. I want you to look at the snowman then I'm going to take it away and you're going to close your eyes and for one minute you're going to think everything you can about that snowman. Try to remember everything. What colour was his nose? Was he wearing a hat? Was he hot? Was he cold? Did he have a sweater on?” Then as their age progresses you can ask them to imagine a snowman or a snowflake. You can ask them to pick something that they want to think about. All you are doing is guiding their mindfulness and meditation. When that minute is up then you get them to talk about it. Ask them questions. What did your snowman look like? How many buttons were on his coat? The idea is to just guide what they are focussing on. This is the first step to meditation. Sunit also recommends a few other tools to guide mindfulness like the raisin exercise or the stuffy exercise.
