There wasn't a better way for the Green Bay Packers to break one of their longest-running customs Thursday night. With Green Bay, Wisconsin at the center of the NFL world by hosting the 2025 NFL Draft, the Packers seized on the moment when Packers president Mark Murphy announced that the team selected wide receiver Matthew Golden out of the University of Texas. The last time the Packers took a wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft was Javon Walker out of Florida State back in 2002.
